I have been using these for a year or so now. The batteries last quite a while, but I wanted to add that it does not give you a reminder when the battery level is low. Instead, once it gets to one bar of power, it begins giving off a terrible constant sound until you remove the batteries. They are great, but it is definitely annoying to find that out in the middle of the night. Now I proactively replace them when the power level is showing at 2 bars. Just an fyi.
Oooooh, that's pretty brutal. It's adding the fear factor of smoke alarms that always seem to go off at night...except it's not on the ceiling. I expected it would be in the app like other WiFi enabled water sensors. That's disappointing. Thanks for the heads up!
Good video. I appreciate the clear and concise instructions. 👍👍
For under a sink, and perhaps other locations if practical, I highly recommend getting an under sink mat with lipped edges. That will contain a small leak until you can get it repaired. I just had a home remodel and the drain in the new kitchen sink has leaked twice from the pipe popping loose. 😡😠🤬 The sink mat saved the day both times, completely containing any water.
I had bought the Govee water sensors during the remodel but misplaced them beforeit was completed. I didnt sweat it since I figured what could possibly go wrong with new plumbing? Surprise! I finally found them right where I had put them 6 months ago. Go figure... 😜
Whew! Good thing you were ahead of it by having the sink mats already. That's the perfect intro to my sink mat video where I compared three different sink mats on the market: th-cam.com/video/wGpcGULa71Q/w-d-xo.html. They really can save the day. Which mat did you end up choosing?
Hopefully everything is buttoned up--no more leaks and you never hear the crazy loud Govee sensors going off (due to no leaks).
Fantastic review and explanation 👏👍
Thank you. Glad to hear it helped!
Does the hub sound an alarm also, or just the sensors?
Just the sensors.
How far was gateways from router?
About 30 feet, down a hallway with a few walls in between.
My Govee keep failing, won’t connect to internet.
Is it all of them or just one sensor?
Awesome review....TY♡
The only downside you can’t stop the alarm when you are not home
True, so if the battery goes out before you come home there is no audio alarm. At least there is the app and email reminders.
Total waste sending an email. My hot water tank leaked today and luckily I was in the basement and heard the alarm. This EVENING I checked my emails and saw the alert. What good would that have done. Basement would be flooded. Needs to send a text.
Wow, that was lucky. I have to agree there and I was planning on adding that to my review video. However, I am surprised that you couldn't hear the alarm from the main level. Of all the different alarms I'm testing, at 100 Db this one is the loudest and I'm not aware of another one on the market that is any louder. Did you get a push notification? I know my phone tried to turn the app into deep sleep (that and Phyn and Flo and other alert systems) and I've had to disable that from happening in the application settings. Maybe that would help? But I 100% agree: a text is much harder to ignore and will evade all deep sleep or get lost in the constant barrage of emails.
The email is very useful for those who carry a cell phone and can therefore respond to the message as soon as possible
You see the new v2 of these? I just ordered it today. I'm hoping for no whammy.🤞
No I hadn't--thanks for reaching out! I've been looking at the Black Friday deals and today was a really nice price drop on the now "old" version (the one in this video)--cheaper than when I bought mine. I hope you got a good deal!
Aaaand I couldn't resist. That quarter mile range looked like a fun experiment to try out. My v2 set arrived today. What do you think of yours?
Functionality is more or less the same, but v2 can support ALOT more sensors, wider range, and claims to have longer battery life which is the more important spec for me. I'm not sure how much better it is since my v1 batteries have lasted for over 7 months now and I just got the v2.
