    Great video, hail Eris!
    Thus it is said in Discordianism that one should not choose chaos over order, but creative chaos and creative order over destructive chaos and destructive order.
    Thus it is not usually done in this way, since people are either too ignorant, too lazy or too discordian to read and practice this.

    • @MantasticHams
      @MantasticHams 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      And thus concurrently, it is said in discordianism: "Order is just another form chaos, and no creation is less than destruction and no destruction is less than creation. A destruction of formlessness, a creation of rubble, the chaos of arrangement, the order of disarray. Smiling. Smiling. Smiling. Smiling. Not. Smiling. And then again. But not without a new sense of hopefulness, a naivete waiting to be squashed here-to-fore there-after misgivinglyness so and so and so and so and so and so" Came up with that just now, i think its really gonna catch on. Small, small, pope. This is some of the cheapest weed I've ever smoked.

    One of the reasons I think Petersonian thought is so boring is that he always frames chaos as something to be fought. Chaos is where the actual living in life is done. Anything you can bring back will already be a dead artifact.

      @GuyInnagorillasuit ปีที่แล้ว +4

      For sure, one of the strongest themes I've noticed from him (and why he's a huge conservative no matter how much he protests) is an attachment to the way things are or were, and an aversion to change or departure from tradition.

      @@GuyInnagorillasuit Ever heard of Julius Evola? Revolt Against the Modern World and Ride the Tiger are of particular interest to myself. Without chaos there is no passion, creation, spiciness to life! Chaos isn’t inherently bad, only the beliefs we have around it. Chaos can shake things up and trigger us so hard, but in reality that is a blessing as it helps to give us perspective and break down false beliefs and masks we wear that hold us back from our true self. I think when you take a non dualistic approach to chaos and order, and learn to flow with both, is when you truly step into your own power. Trying to constantly resist, believing chaos to be evil and to be fought, separates you from accepting your true self. When you fight your true self, view any part of yourself as bad, is when those parts of you manifest themselves in bad ways.

      I'd push back and say in his early lectures, he often sites Carl Jung and the idea that we must make friends with our Chaotic side, and that we can harness it to fulfill our potential. I'll agree on the other hand, though, as he's a clinical psychologist trying to help people (and now society) achieve a better tomorrow. Chaos isn't a reliable way to get there, as it does shake things up and it does make staying the same seem to be the foolish way. Since he's trying to be wholly positive, it wouldn't be responsible for him to be Discordian. I'll also agree that he demonizes trolls (literally calling them demon-trolls), and that I think he's confusing people who are being chaotic with the bots and the paid bad-faith actors.
      I'm saying this from a place of respect to both Comedians and Peterson alike. We need both to push forward in a balanced way. I'd say Dr. Peterson started a bit more balanced, and now he's fallen into a bit of a pander trap. He's still an excellent source of knowledge-accrual, but to be taken with a grain of salt, as with anyone. :)

      The truth is, we often react without thinking. It’s a gut reaction, often based on fear and insecurities, and it’s not the most rational or appropriate way to act. Responding, on the other hand, is taking the situation in, and deciding the best course of action based on values such as reason, compassion, cooperation, etc.

    • @HyperboreanUK
      @HyperboreanUK 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vampireLFD The writers of the Oxford Dictionary would disagree with you. The English words 'respond' and 'react' have exactly the same meaning. You've had to insert a highly personal, erroneous, and subjective definition of those two words as binary opposites, aligning them with reason vs. emotional reaction to support your easily disproved misuse of the English language.
      I fully understand what you're attempting to say by the way. It's just that you've used two identical synonyms instead of using clear definable English to say what you intended to mean.
      You are talking about a considered rational response vs. an emotional reaction. You applaud the former and decry the latter. Your motivational aim was to present yourself as rationally superior compared to my alleged emotional response. You attempted this via the utilisation of rhetorical language in order to criticise my original comment and support the ridiculous pseudo quantifible claim that "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.'.
      My response and disagreement to that erroneous statement is that it has no meaning and no attachment to the real world.
      Scientifically, can you explain to me why the world is not 15% what happens to you, 85% how you react to it." Where is the supposed quantifiable data that would demonstrate how one statement is correct, and the other is incorrect? There is none, it is mere conjecture at best. A meaningless statement with no attachment to the real world. If it wasn't, the likes of Pancini and his badly designed pseudo science profit driven apps, Swindoll, and yourself could prove me wrong by quantifiably demonstrating the 90% reaction based activities of the human brain.
      Additionally, I'll take you to task on your binary opposition between emotional and rational response. Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud, and Carl Jung would, as well as myself, all disagree with you. A rational response has as it's motivational foundation, an emotional unconscious reaction at source. Rationality is layered onto an underlying emotion to legitimise it. In Freudian terms, the reason is the ship that travels the emotional seas of the unconscious. Nietzsche would add that without those seas of the emotional unconscious the ship of rationality would make no travels. Jung would also strongly disagree with your attempt at denigrating emotion, and making rationality the only virtue. This, Jung would contend is the expression of your Western positivistic ideology, as opposed to an objective attachment to your mind and the world you live in. Your splitting of reason and emotion is your failure to healthily synthesise both.
      Ironically, as any reader can see. There was more reasoning in my response than your emotional erroneous rhetoric. We are both driven by emotion, and both use reason. But my proposition is more attached to the real world and the human mind, because I know you cannot demonstrate that 90% of human activity and thought is reaction. If you could, then I could be proven wrong. Can you?

They all go about things in their own distinctive ways.

    Consider the connection to the grand myth of the garden of Eden - the ideal monistic existence, until the snake shows up (the trickster) and seduces the female aspect first. Man falls into dualistic/dialectic existence and loses the prime state of perfect wholeness. As some myths tell, he was an androgynous being and thus he becomes severed into two separate sexes, and expelled from the garden, now guarded by heavenly forces. The reptile, positive aspects - arcane knowledge, the auroboros, cycles, spirals, magic, wisdom, rebirth, underworld. Negative - deceit, evil, black magic, cunning, survivalist egocentrism.
