Dudes React Part 10: EXO Wolf | Nonkpopper Reaction Marathon

- We made the dudes choose sides and declare themselves either ARMY or EXOLs. Watch to see what they pick! (We know you can be both, but we were just having fun with them and making them choose!)
PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING:
We, The Kpop Konverters, have noticed that some of our viewers have gotten a bit worked up over the choice of this particular EXO song that we used during our latest nonkpopper marathon. This in turn, has caused us to get a bit worked up and we now have the desire to defend this choice! And so, please read our comments and thoughts below for a better understanding of this choice:
What Megs says:
"For those who haven't watched this entire Non Kpopper Dudes React Marathon: Knowing my friends the way I do, I had picked MVs that were a little on the weird side or outrageous or shocking. That was the motif for this marathon. Neither BTS nor EXO were originally on the playlist for this night. However, Fire was requested since they had heard me play it many times in the car.... and I mean come on FIRE is my very favorite song, so like I'm gonna pass that up as a kpopper being asked by nonkpopper friends... I mean come on people!!!! Then they asked about rivalries and I said the bands don't really have rivalries, but the fans do... which led me into ARMY vs EXO-Ls, so then they requested to see some EXO... Guys... I like EXO's songs... this is me (Megs, Hi how are ya!) an ARMY stating very plainly... I like EXO songs, I just don't know their MVs as well. So I text the other Kpop Konverters, "What EXO song should I do?" and Toto being awesome and knowing I was doing "weird" videos recommended Wolf because it is a on the "weird" side but still loves it, and we hadn't done a reaction to it yet. So I was like "Cool, I like that song." And thus, why I selected to show Wolf to my nonkpopper friends. So at the end since we had talked about a rivalry between EXO-Ls and ARMY, for fun I asked if they had to choose, which would they be. As I am sure you can tell, it was a highly educated decision based on one video each. And I am sure it is a decision they will live by FOREVER since it was mostly based on the fan clubs' names rather than the groups themselves. SO please can we all take this as seriously as they did, and respect their choices...
And so to be clear, because we don't want to start a fan war here on this channel, we really truly love all of kpop (yes even the girl groups), the only people saying negative things about EXO or their music are EXO-L themselves and not the people in this video nor the creators of this channel... Megs out!
What Toto says:
For everyone wondering WHY IN THE WORLD MEGS SHOWED THEM WOLF, I'm the one (Toto) that suggested showing them Wolf. You're all saying Wolf is 'cringey' and EXO's worst song (which if you're real EXOLS...how could you say that tbh) but in my case this song and video is what made me fall in love with EXO. You can't assume what other people will think of a song, and if you actually watched this reaction video you'd see that these guys actually liked it. Seriously though I LOVE THIS SONG. CHOGIWA.
What Ryn says:
EXO has TONS of really good songs to offer, but Megs was looking for something uniquely Kpop, something that you wouldn't find here in American music. Wolf definitely is different and a bit strange, but isn't that the fun of it?

We know this is a very passionate community of kpop fans and we LOVE THAT! But sometimes the passion takes a turn that makes us crazy because in the end, we just want to have fun with this most amazing genre of music that stirs up such passion. Sometimes I feel fans take things so seriously when we don’t intend to be quite so serious. This song was actually perfect for these nonkpoppers which, if you watch the video, you’ll understand that they quite enjoyed it and the fact that Megs asked them to chose a fandom was simply in fun because we know about the fanwars between these two groups. We find it funny (or maybe sad) that the fanwar even exists because we, the creators of this channel, tend to love all the groups and we don’t understand AT ALL the need to chose one over the other. It’s crazy. And we refuse to actually do it. So, we hope you understand now why we find some of the comments and reactions we’re getting to be quite silly.
Final words:
Despite the fact that we’ve stirred up emotions in both our viewers and ourselves, we want you all to know that we LOVE the discussion and interaction and we love and enjoy all our viewers and what they have to say no matter which band they stan! The Kpop Konverters I Don't have anything against Wolf I actually really like the song but I Don't think it fair to ask them to choose a fandom base on a song from "Baby" Exo who didn't even find their style of music and a more mature and dope BTS
that's just my opinion but I Don't hate or anything I just think it wasn't a wise decision

I love this song too! Literally my lock screen is of a wolf and the word chogiwa a bunch of times. Their vocal talent is also displayed. So there's no reason to dislike this song. Maybe it's just me but some of my favorite EXO songs are their older stuff. (Even though I like their newer stuff as well.)

It's fine to choose WOLF to react, but many exols concerned this song maybe not easy for non kpoppers get into EXO. You can choose GROWL(song makes them famous) and Monster(recent album title song) for them next time. It's fun for reaction but not fun for comparison.

The fan war just happening because of stupid or new fans. The normal fans don't fight for this stupid things. Btw, exo and bts are really friends. The fans that you see in twitter are just stupid people who do not represent their fandons, so don't get the wrong ideia. Kpop fans hate when people do comparison between groups or idols. Especially when they don't debut in the same year and have different concepts. So, you don't need to chose a group... Does not make sense.

Exo is really good with harmonies. They did a cover of "Open arms" by Journey (?). When they sang the chorus, it gave me goosebumps.. D.O, Chen, Baekhyun and Luhan did it.

if you wanna be a fair kpop converter, you should show them Growl since it was really great hit on Korea and everyone in SKorea knows this song and Growl was voted for the song that Kpop idols sing the most when they go Karaoke in 2017. (voted by more than 100 kpop idols and they are all popular) it was 2017 vote!!!!!!! 2017!!!! but wolf? seriously???
Don't know why people hate Wolf. I really like it. Have to admit the first time I listened to it I didn't . It is an acquired taste, but you learn to appreciate it

Most people (even Exo-Ls) dislike Wolf or at least the video for it because it is cringey. Some have accused it of being a bit racist because of how they are dressed. (personally I don't think style can belong to a racial group but w/e)

Everyone's angry and hating the video.. I can understand.. I too can feel it.! all songs and mvs of EXO are amazing and I love them all.. the Wolf is an old mv so it's not that of a high leveled performance and all and that also against BTS Fire.. Maybe they should have chosen Overdose, Growl or Monster.. if that would've happened then maybe their opinion would have changed but whatever it is, BTS & EXO are friends and they have good relationship and they are both good in their own way! I don't think Wolf is a bad or embarrassing song to show non-kpopers. It was an AMAZING song! *memories However, IN MY OPINION, everyone is trying to say that how EXO dressed in the mv was 4 years ago(a bit old?) and the style will be a little bit too much for westerners who haven't seen them before to understand and accept.(I LOVE MY BOY KAI'S HAIR IT WAS EPIC) Meanwhile, Fire by BTS is obviously newer(how they dressed, the mv setting, and the music style)and it might be easier to be accepted by these non-kpopers.

I LOVE WOLF!! Wolf is what got me into EXO. I'm a fan of many KPop groups especially BTS and EXO. SuperJunior got me into KPop as well. Lol. I love all of your react videos. I'm an army and BBC, and this was the first time hearing and watching exo wolf ,to be honest I don't think this song and video is cringey, I was expecting a very weird sound and concept that's like super cringey, but I actually think the beat is catchy and their vocals are on point. I don't get why you'll would feel embarrassed, it kinda doesn't make sense to me.
I guess I'm use to the crazy videos and catchy music of block b, but never will I feel embarrassed of their unique way of being.

Let's remember they said they were using the more out there songs for all the reactions. This is likely why Wolf was chosen. Besides the group of people reacting did seem to like it. I don't understand why people are complaining so much. And it's just for fun one cannot really choose which group on the premise of a single song. I thought this reaction was wonderful, a lot of fun.

You guys are awesome. I think there is a take home message here. Whether it was the goal or not, your point about the fan wars was kind of proven in the comments. It probably has to do with the ages of the fans. I am definitely not saying it is true in all cases but I do think a lot of younger fans are susceptible to adopting an us vs them mentality. It's upsetting given how much each group has to offer both in talents and personality. Why limit yourself to one group?

Yall "fansies" (not all fans, just the overly sensitive ones) need to chill. They can pick whatever videos they want (no, you don't get a say) for whatever reasons they have. In fact, the fairest way is picking from a hat, which all but guarantees winners and losers will get picked at some point. If you want to call yourself a true fan, you need to "fan up" and stay positive. What would your bias think if they read your comment?

Everyone's here commenting about the fanwars, and I understand them because you're just asking these dudes whether BTS or EXO, but do you know that you can like both?? Lol, anyways, I wanted to comment about Block B's lack of dancing. It is NOT because of Zico. Zico actually was really ill when he was small and had lots of heart surgeries... But he's fine now!! If they don't dance much, it's because they're lazy af and some of the members aren't that good at it (only U-Kwon and B-Bomb who are the main and lead dancers). Moreover, right now they "kind of have" their own company, so they do everything according to their liking. Block B's a group with A LOT of personality. They're the type of group that when they have a concert they're crazy af and they do whatever they want, making it an unforgettable experience for the fans.
We are actually fans of stanning ALL the groups. :) And thanks for the info about Zico though I hate to think of Block B as lazy... anyway... seeing them live would be amazing! I can't even imagine how much fun that would be! -- Suey
I think you misunderstood me! I said that they're lazy, yes, but that's not true! It's just that some members (cough Taeil, P.O, Jaehyo cough) don't dance very well so they dance "clumsily", and Block B just focus more on giving a fun and enjoyable performance than just to follow some hardcore steps. Block B's really hard-working, specially Zico and Park Kyung, who are involved in producing, and are always working hard to produce their own tracks and Block B's. I have never seen them live, but I have seen fancams and wow, I would love to see them live!
Hey thanks for the Block B info... I am a new BBC and I haven't done a ton of looking into the band personally, I just know I freaking love their songs! So that is about all I know of them, that I love their music and their videos are pretty fun too.
And yes we know you can like both! Actually all of us Kpop Konverters like/love both groups. I only consider myself ARMY because I stan BTS way more. I made them choose for kicks and giggles based on one song of each... Ok I understand why you picked wolf....kind of. But I think we Exols are trying to say that fire compared to wolf isn't really a far choice. If you wanted something different why not Monster or Lotto? Baekies piercing can be a little cringy and Lotto has way to much Autotune at first. Wolf is a very old song that doesn't show case exos dancing ability and really singing abilities. Fire is kind of new so why not a new song from Exo too? I'm not trying to say Wolf is a horrible song because it isn't, however most people have to listen to it more than once to actually enjoy it. I hope next time you pick a better song to showcase their abilities. I'm not trying to be mean or hate on a Army because I love bts but I feel that its unfair to pick wolf out of allllll the songs exo has. You might like it but I think it would have been better to show them a video that was a little better first and then show them this one. And if you didn't want a recent one then why not Mama? most people hate the screamo part or the supernatural part but the song showcases more of their abilities then Wolf...

I mean I liked your other reactions but this one just outta nowhere annoyed me. I love the main vocals but what pisses me of is how it feels like people time it so they talk during the whole vocals duration, and suddenly theyre back to paying attention during rap or repetitive parts. its literally so annoying, I cant stand it. this channel isn't the only ones. I just get so offended when vocals are passed by or ignored.
Like they're the "boring" parts so everyone starts talking then? Yeah, that is annoying, I agree. I love love love the vocal sections of all the kpop songs. I do think that these reactors of ours were especially talkative (which is good for reacting otherwise...boring) and they tended to talk through the whole songs it seemed! Armys are passionate too even more than exols and exo are not the biggest group currently it's bts
All fandoms are passionate. It's really quite hard to measure whether one is more passionate than another. BTS is very popular right now, that's for sure. But it doesn't take away from how awesome EXO is too. They are both great groups with great fandoms. And I wish both fandoms of BTS and EXO would once and for all understand this. As for us and our channel, we feel a part of both fandoms and love both groups. We will cheer on BTS while they have their awesome success, but we will also cheer on EX0 (and many other groups) at the same time. It is possible. It's not really about who's the biggest group, it's about loving kpop and spreading that love to the world. :)-- Suey

We can never hate an EXO song. The fact is that Wolf video is a bit weird and we would never recommend it to be shown to a non-kpop fan for the first time reacting to EXO. Cause that video takes away attention from the amazing song and vocals. I guess from my previous comment it might sound like that but it wasn't my intention. Personally,i think u should have mentioned that you guys were reacting to a music video that is a bit on the "weird" side. (that would have stopped a lot of the backlash).I would have not commented on the choice of the song if u just have let them reacted to it, instead of asking them "which one they prefered?". Cause EXO has dozens of amazing songs and it felt like you were using "Wolf" to represent EXO. Honestly i'm not too sure what it is but there's just something about it that just makes me cringe. I know for a fact I hate that "nasally" high pitched "saranghaeyo" in the chorus it's just so cheesy :l I admit I do like parts of the song but as whole it's not really something I would listen to on my own will or add it to a playlist. I can't say much about how cringy the hair and outfits are since I love BTS and still watch No More Dream and We Are Bulletproof Pt.2 even though the style in those...yikes xD I wasn't trying to attack you guys for showing them this like all the other salty Exo-L's in the comments haha I just personally really dislike this song compared to all their others but that's just personally taste and opinion c:
I really love wolf, this was the song that made me love and appreciate exo. Everytime i hear that line "nan nukdaego neon minyeo" (I'm a wolf and you're a beauty) it puts a smile on my face 😊😊😊
