- Subscribe 👈 Links 👇 The Zoom H6 MS mic tested on voice for podcasting, TH-cam videos, narration, voice-over, etc... The MS mic is a condenser microphone. The sides of the Mid-Side mic are turned off for this test.
The Zoom H6 is a self-contained recorder, but you can also use it as a USB microphone and an audio interface. We will hear several samples from different distances, both raw and processed. The processed samples use iZotope Nectar 2.
The Zoom H6 also includes an XY mic capsule and hard case. You can also plug other microphones into the XLR ports of the Zoom H6. This unit is a creators dream. Perfect for podcasting, TH-cam videos, voice-over, and so much more. Plus, it's very portable. I highly recommend this unit, it has infinite creative possibilities.

Thanks for your review
Yes bro bro getting straight to the point
This mic is great for room audio or for drums(secret hack). You should definitely use the stereo mic that comes with the H6 for voiceover.
Incredible overview.. thank you!!!
thanks for the view
Amazing video im planning to do some asmr food video which settings i need to use to get a nice sounds like the 3 dio?? If u have any tips or advices it would be great
You scared me with your lower third sound effect I did crank up my head phones ))
Excellent for recording. I got mine 4 yrs ago. Is there a way i can put a downloaded mp3s or wav files in one of the tracks so that I can play guitar and mp3 backing tracks at the same time?
Thank you
what is difference between side raw and side off?
What are you going to do next, test a stereo mic in mono? Or how about a camera where you turn off the picture?
I have that Micro and i love it.... i have 2 questions to ask.... 1 - I have a group of music (3 acouistic guitars and 1 voice).... may i use it as a studio voice micro? Question 2 - Is there any adapter to connect the microfone without the H6? Thanks.
What does it mean "the sides are off"??
wish you turned the sides on..
Why would you test a mid-side recoding unit with the side mic turned off?
Right?! What a waste of time
Over processed and sounds very unnatural when the gate kicks in
agree
Is there a windscreen that would fit this like a glove?
How do you turn the side levels down though,? that’s how I came across this video thank you
You basically toggle the movable button on the right (just above the menu button) to either increase/decrease/switch off the side mics.
This sounds pretty great. I've been debating on getting the H6 and whether or not I want to get something like the Shure SM58 mic as well or just use the capsules that come with the H6.
It depends. The included capsules will work great. But, it's always nice to have a mic that you can mount in more places too. I have demos of a bunch of mics on this channel as well. Also I have some videos on how to mount the Zoom H6. Just search my channel for Zoom H6.
@@BenoniStudio I think I might get the SM58 to start. I do like what I've seen from this other Shure mic as well. The SM7B I think it was? But that would be later down the road seeing as it is like $400 by itself. But the H6 will be great for my on the go needs and I can use the venerable SM58 until I feel the need to upgrade. Do you have videos particularly on how you clean up your audio? And will the general tips work with most applications? I'm probably going to give Adobe Audition CC a try, seeing as I have a student discount.
Yes, the SM7B is a very popular mic for podcasts and radio and can work well for vocals (singing) too. It does require A LOT of gain, so make sure your interface can support it or get a pre-amp. A cheaper option for a broadcast mic is the RODE Procaster (or Podcaster which is the USB version) I review it here th-cam.com/video/YHoSFIH2L8g/w-d-xo.html
If you want a cheap option for a condenser mic the MXL 2008 is pretty awesome for the money
th-cam.com/video/pq6lEV1aXiw/w-d-xo.html
I have an SM58 review here th-cam.com/video/gMgUyVT1Bu0/w-d-xo.html
Over the next couple months there will be several Mic Wars videos that compare several different mics.
Another popular option for a broadcast mic is the RE20, but it is more expensive.
As far as "cleaning audio", you should strive to record clean audio. But you can use iZotope RX to clean stuff pretty quickly. I have some videos on Vocal De-noise somewhere on here.
Also, to produce a voice track, I use iZotope Nectar 2 (Nectar 3 coming out soon). I do have old videos on this, but I don't have the links handy.
@@BenoniStudio if I can expand my budget slightly, between the Rode Procaster and the Shure SM7B, which would you ultimately recommend?
Either one really. The SM7B has a slightly larger frequency range. The Procaster is tuned well for voice (as is the SM7B)... They BOTH require A LOT of gain, the Zoom H6 can drive them well though. If you are just starting, the SM58 will get you a great sound for a lot less money and you'll learn more about what you really need. If you're buying from Amazon I have these in a collection for easy access www.amazon.com/shop/benonistudio (i make money from that link)
You could also consider the RE 320 which is about $289
