I have a 870 and Ken I'm not not a fan of the new series, because of where the new fan setup is.
I do demo and I can only imagine my guys backing into something a tearing up the fan shround and I like foot petals its more precise in my opinion

We have a been a devoted case company for years. Had to venture to other brands over the last several years. After a couple John Deere’s and cat we have been very happy with the T740 and T770 we have purchased in the last year.

ren97 we had two 333g’s at the same time with the John Deere diesels. They were great at first, but became junk after 2000 hours, drive motor and engines became problematic.

So a few things on the T740. The T740 is a large frame Track loader equipped with a 74 hp NON- dpf and NON def fluid Doosan engine. The trade off is the horsepower to weight ratio is a tad on the low side but you have no def fluid or dpf regeneration to contend with. A lot of guys like that idea. As a matter of fact, 100% of Bobcats track and skidsteer model offerings do Not use a dpf filter. There are a lot of applications that need the 133" lift height of the T740 but not necessarily the huge pushing power. Keep in mind, you were filling up a 27 cubic foot bucket rather well. For the true excavator guys out there, you may want to consider the T770. It is real powerful, equipped with a 92 hp Non dpf but has def Doosan Engine. Also of note, Bobcat uses direct drive motors that give you a higher travel speed and longer life vs planetaries that are slower but give a bit more torque or push when digging. Bobcat is going to be much faster 10.5 vs 8 mph....more productive. The cat is a nice machine, they build great equipment, pros and cons to all of them....great vid by the way!

I have made my living with Bobcat for 49 years. I started before anyone knew what a Bobcat was.
    I'm located on Cape Cod.
All my big equipment is CAT. All my compact equipment is Bobcat
I do not own anything newer than 2010.
I don't like to new machines, any of them.
Also I don't own a CTL. I cannot justify the cost per hour for the short life cycle of the rubber track
My S-220 is amazing. For Sandy soil run my tires at about 22 lbs. psi From the looks of this job your soil condition is similar to here on the Cape.
Lastly I don't like the radial lift configuration. To many wear points and it changes the point of ground contact and in
my opinion affects they overall performance of the machine. Yes it will lift an elephant but digging out of the ground is another story.
Sorry for this being long, I could go on but enough for now.

Ive used every tracked skid steer under the sun for the last 20 years and i will tell u the best most powerful machine to me was the bobcat t300 with the kubota non emissions engine .Perfect weight to horsepower machine The new bobcat doosan engines can't compare to the kubota engines bobcat used to have.

  • @matttom94
    @matttom94 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

This may solve the “it has no power comment” the T740 is an in the middle machine...
It has the engine capacity of the smaller T650 in a loader the size of the T770... so if you want the bigger frame try it with it’s real motor or if that’s your horsepower choice try the smaller loader
Just my thoughts standing on the outside looking in 👍

I enjoyed running the t740 but we used a landscape rake on it. At the time we were doing a football field and the top soil had a lot of stone in it so the rake got up a good majority of the stone and fluffed the top soil. The only thing I didn’t like was from all the dust I had to stop every hour or so to clean out the a.c filters. I think bobcat could’ve made them bigger and put them in a better spot but over all I’d recommend the t740.

JCB Teleskid has kinda been my favorite but in the end, I'm not the owner of it I'm just the operator and I take every opportunity to operate a skid steer because to me they're fun and enjoyable to operate especially if youre shuttling material from one area to another. Haven't used a T740 Bobcat though. I'm interested.

We own a 2020 T-870. Have a Diamond brush cutter. The bucket is 84”inches wide. I’d recommend putting the backup camera inside the machine before it ever leaves the dealership. Idk how we got by so long without having a backup camera tbh. Btw,the T-870 is the biggest skid-steer in the Bobcat skid-steer lineup. In my opinion your demoing a T-770 why wouldn’t you wanna checkout the difference with that T-870.
Yes CATERPILLAR is without a shadow of a doubt, the better machine. As a matter of fact everything else of ours only carries the Caterpillar Logo, our dozer lineup...
    D3K2 next-gen dozer also have the D5K2 , D6N & a D6R-XWII dozer. Trackhoe lineup
320DL,329EL,316FL,Next-Gen 309CR also have the E-50 Bobcat mini-x. A 928G front-end wheel loader along with 5 Tandems 4 of which being Mack’s 4CH Pinnacles,my RD6 & 1 Volvo VHD. Along with another Mack 2013 CH trailer & you know there’s a Peterbuilt somewhere in the miss right. Yup,
379EXD trailer truck. I’m several thousands of miles away from you fella’s but love seeing the passion you guys have got for the industry. I also love the Mining Industry as well (TBH,I’d rather be in a mine) up until this past June was a year I sold outta my Sand&Gravel operations. One was a dredge operation, the other was a Mill operation (Dry-Wash) operation. Anyway best of luck to all of you guys stay safe out there. From Mississippi

There are so many more options on a cat machine as far as operator comfort. Have a 299d 2 . It's a force to be reckoned with lol love it . Have been on deer bobcat and several more . Cat has the best service best parts availability and cat stores seem to out number most all other dealerso nation wide. So for me it is cat unless they screw it up .

    • @technicalitems731

Bj Watson u r so right. Most of all of my equip is cat. The dealer, parts, choice of aftermarket parts, loan value, resell value, filter at Napa, mechanic familiarity is what makes it. They generally have the best machine. I have a cat 268 b with a bolt on loegering vts system that I’ve owner operator ran and that thing is tough as nails. I still think it’s new!!! But it’s not. I’ve never had a breakdown except for 1 hose. If I didn’t have cat I’d prefer Takeuchi (and mustang/gehl versions), ihi, and Kubota. If you can wait on parts and don’t need features....tak, Kubota and turn ihi. Otherwise, cat is premium even if a new other brand model comes out with more power or bling.

Ok as you probably figured I'm a babcat girl. That said I have and still do operate a cat skid. My pros and cons. Cat I like the piolet controls but I'm more comfortable with hand and foot controls. Next I'm not a fan of the cat self leveling. I also feel bucket lift is a drop slower than bobcat. Ground speed seems equal. I have been using a bc rubber track 590 like ur guys say it does loose power when dig speed and working bucket, can't explain that. My bc 763 doesn't do that, so that's what I like about a rubber tire with removable metal tracks. I can run them both I make the best of whatever the boss puts me in, but luv my 91 bc 763. Thanks for the comparison. Keep that young lady interested and trying new things. Cheers guys rock on!!!

I'd like to see a review on Kubota as well. They're one of the few CTL makers still using hydraulic-over-hydraulic pilot controls ... so I'm curious to see if you guys notice a difference in the responsiveness of the machine. That said, I did notice that you were able to shake the bucket well enough to empty it at 8:09 ... and a quick lookup of the specs for the T740 shows that the controls are not ACS, so maybe they are hydraulic-over-hydraulic too?

Kubota is a great dirt machine. Lots of room, you can keep the door open and it has much less electronics than the others. Hydraulic over hydraulic pilot controls are much more responsive than electric pilot. The price is better than the others. The only bad I have to say about mine is the dealer support and service is horrible. I run a SVL 90-2C.

I work in public works and in our county it is mostly Cat that we run, though at the shop I'm at we are prefer John Deere. We just took delivery of a John Deere 940 loader and a John Deer 410 backhoe this year. The County also bought a Cat 350 mini excavator but we don't see it much at our shop. I prefer the John Deeres over the Cats. It's been a long time since I ran a Bobcat but I'm a huge Bobcat fan. I don't think your guys gave it a fair shake. Spending 5 minutes in it and using it to do one thing really isn't a fair test. When we demo equipment we usually have it for a month and it makes it's way through all of our district shops (we have 4 district shops in our county).

It has no power because you have a 740 which has 74 HP. I was told it is purposely under powered so you dont have to add DEF fluid. What they should have brought you was a T770 with 92hp, Same machine with the right motor. Your running a large frame machine with the same hp as your 257.

Sounds like you guys had your minds set on cat before demo on bobcat t740. 10 minutes run time. Bobcat is much faster for grading in low speed. I own 2 bobcat t595. 74 hp . Roller suspension, ride control sjc , air heated seat . Rides like a caddy. Great power. Not sure that 74 hp would be enough power for 289. Or. T740
