    Finally someone who can show me which one sounds good because he can actually play. I liked both but I’d pick the triple. I watched three videos on comparing the duel and triple but they couldn’t actually play the guitar. I’m buying my friends triple rec for $400, once my tax returns come I’ll be a happy man. I’ve wanted a Mesa boogie or a peavey 5150 since 2001, since my first metal band. My little crate combo amp couldn’t play loud enough for my drummer. Lol

    Great playing! This is the kind of demo that leaves you as a viewer well-informed, so thank you for posting this! There was no talking over the sound examples and very clear on-screen indication of what it was we were listening to at the moment. Both amps sounded superb, especially with such precision playing. Although the differences in tone were subtle, it was clear that the dual has a bit more of a mid-focused tone than the triple.

    • @AxePalace
      @AxePalace  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      In real life when you A/B them its the same way. I assure you it wasn't the mix but rather the inherent differences. They both do sound great however. The Dual is noticeably warmer/punchier in an A/B test, whereas the Triple has a bit more sizzle and scoop.

    Would you take the Mesa amps over the Diezel Herbert and/or the Diezel VH4 or the Diezels as the end tier metal amp?

    • @AxePalace
      @AxePalace  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It sort of depends on the sound/feel you're after. The Mesas are much more "raw" and "organic", with a pronounced midrange bark and crunch that is unmistakably Recto. The Diezels are more of a polished, somewhat compressed, somewhat more scooped "wall of sound" kind of thing. I like them both a lot. The VH4 is fantastic. It's very tight and ballsy. The Mesa I think cuts more and is just really savage sounding, although it does kind of need an OD in front to be an "end tier metal amp".
      If I was forced to choose I would go with the Dual Rectifier, but I love the VH4 also. It's also worth considering the Mesa Badlander amp which is kind of like a more modern, tighter version of the Dual Rec.

      Rooster 7six Thanks for the feedback. We do, at times, post raw clips in our videos, but I feel the most important aspect of an amp is how it sounds in a mix (be it live or recording) - how it sounds alone in a room ultimately is not as important IMO. I like some bottom end on my 7strings. I usually split my signal with one going to my bass amp because it sounds wicked, Im guessing the triple is what I need. • @AxePalace
      @AxePalace  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mesas retain their value as good as just about any amp. It depends on the market conditions and other factors. But generally I suggest people just get the right amp rather than worry about future resale value. If you buy them new from a reputable dealer such as us, you will always get a trial period to ensure you like the amp before committing to it.

    Can I ask...so with the classic heavy rectifier sound most of the time you have it on the solid state rectifier setting for that tighter feel, so that being said why does the tone vary between dual and triple rec?

  • @SlingshotMustang
    @SlingshotMustang 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The dual is far, far superior according to my ear. Like not even close. The triple does sound good, but something about it makes it sound more subdued and/or generic, like it doesn't have any character, it's too distorted or something. The dual has a bright clean punchy sound to it that makes it sound unique and forceful and therefore heavier. Well, my decision has been made, it was a very quick decision too lol thanks to this video, it took my ears less than 2 minutes to decide which one to get. The dual sounded far heavier in literally every riff that was played. I'm gonna have to get a dual. Thanks for the vid

  • @TheGgreen100
    @TheGgreen100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Triple sounds more scooped than the Dual. That's not a bad thing, it makes the Triple sound bigger. The Dual sounds like it would be more forward in a mix though with all the extra mids in there... but I'm not sure that's the best thing. ALL MIDS ALL THE TIME kinda sucks and gives you a really flat, 2D kind of sound. The Triple sounds deeper. Not bassier, but rather like there's more "sonic depth" there. The Dual sounds like a drag car where the Triple sounds like more a thunder storm.

    Is there any difference between the triple recs that say solo head vs 150w head?

    Hey brotha does the triple have more gain overall?
    I used to have a vintage 2 channel dual rect and it always felt like it needed more distortion.

    • @AxePalace

      They have the same amount of gain, both amps benefit from a boost in front like a TS808 for modern metal applications.

    Both running 6L6's? And did you dial them in the same exactly, or how individually how each one sounded good?

    • @AxePalace
      @AxePalace  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They were both 6L6. I don't recall the exact settings. In general however I find the Dual Rec sounds better and is more fun to play than the Triple. One thing that can't come thru a video is feel, and the Dual feels more responsive and less "stiff", to me.

    Triple definitely sounds darker/thicker, which is what I prefer. Amazing amps either way.

    Dual Rec sounds like it has slightly more upper mids that sort of round it out. This stands out a little more to me in the leads and the harmonized strummed riffs. The Triple sounds like it has slightly less mids (not quite scooped, but more in that direction) and a little crisper high and low end. I prefer the Dual, but both sound good.

    • @AxePalace
      @AxePalace  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fair analysis. The thing that cant be captured in a video unfortunately is the FEEL. Playing both amps is just a completely different experience.

    Whats the difference between the two? Just the wattage? And what does "rectifier" even mean?

    • @AxePalace
      @AxePalace  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They just sound different, which is what we tried to convey with this video. Rectifier refers to the rectifier tubes these amps have. It's part of the poweramp and effects the feel and sound of the amp.

    Dual: mids
    Triple: not as much mids, punchier bottom
    I honestly think this has more to do with the EQ settings not being set in relation to eachother. I think they *can* sound more similar to eachother, but I'm not sure that's the way to go.
    The triple has an amazing low bottom end control, and letting that be a central part of the tone may be it's preferable setting, while the dual might benefit from a more mid rich tone.

    • @AxePalace
      @AxePalace  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      GurktheBrutal nah it's got nothing to do with the EQs. The amps just sound drastically different. And even more so FEEL different.

    Mesa amps need a boost/OD but Diezel amps do not.

    • @AxePalace
      @AxePalace  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is true, but nearly all high gain metal amps on the market that I would boost anyways, regardless of how much it needs it. The Diezel benefits greatly from a boost bc their low end can be over the top.
