Even if you're beginner, you probably know the trick called Oil and Water.
This trick is known very well and in most variations uses Elmsley count.
Elmsley count is not that difficult technique but when you're a beginner, you might feel not so confident to show the trick in public if you're afraid of failing in Elmsley count.
This version is Oil and Water trick provides very similar effect but does not use Elmsley count so its easier and more accessible to beginners.
    Step by Step
    - Prepare six cards - four red and two black
    - Divide cards into two piles. One pile will contain three red cards, second pile will contain one red card in the middle of two black cards
    - Show the cards to spectator using method described in the video
    - Mix cards from both piles together - alternate card by card from both piles, starting with pile with black cards
    - Take first three cards and show to the spectator that there are only red cards, then take the remaining three cards and show that there are only black cards. Always use method that is described in the video
    - Do exactly the same once again - mix cards from both piles and show the result again
    - Now you will mix both piles for the last time - you will do exactly the same but this time you will start mixing cards from pile where you have red cards
    - Take the top three cards, transfer the first card to bottom and show to spectator that there are only red cards in the packet
    - Spectator will assume that there are black cards in second packet as well but you will prove him wrong - show that there are another red cards in the packet!

Great variation, and well executed, however, as noticed by the comment section, the trick was quite obvious. Looking closer, I noticed that the problem was not with your card handling, but the choice of black cards.
From the get-go, you showed your two black values: the 6 of spades, and the 6 of clubs. Since the audience looks for landmarks (numbers and colours being a major one) seeing a third black 6 raised alertness to the values and suits of your red cards, losing the rest.
With that in mind, if I may, could I suggest a slight tweak to your trick? Try using the groups of 5-8-10 and 6-7-9. I've noticed that 8-10 and 7-9 look very similar and could be mistaken for each other at performance speed, especially with a change of suit. This might, if done fluid enough, trick the brain into thinking you have either a combo of 8-10-8 or 10-8-10, and 7-9-7 or 9-7-9. Yet, since the audience is only focused on colour, the reveal of the 5 and 6 would trigger the response "I must be mistaken." Since they are close enough, yet have a definite difference.
Try it out and see if that works for you. :)

What are people complaining "anyone will see the middle card"? If you want to do it properly learn the Elmsley count. This is actually really good for a version that requires very practice.

you are a very good magician. and you can also teach very well. thank you for posting this trick. it is a good trick, but i personally do not like it. with practice i could do it, because it isn't to difficult for someone like me to learn, practice and perform it. i am not longer a semi pro magician, but i still love watching and learning these amazing tricks.i no longer can perform magic like i used to 30 yrs ago.
thank you again for your time and help to teach us this trick. . i will not be practicing this anytime soon. i dont want to perform this card trick for any one [ friends, family, etc.]
there are to many mistakes that can happen, and that i can and will make.
but as others have mentioned, it is way to obvious that we are not showing the middle card every time. it is only 6 cards. 3 in one pile, and 3 in the other.. too many people are ignorant, and rude, and will catch me not showing the middle cards every time.
i am usually pretty good at bullshitting people, but as i sit here and watch you, i am thinking of ways to bull shit my spectators, and i am worried about pulling this trick off, because i can not think of any bull shit excuses that i can use. lol. thanks for showing me this version of the 'oil and water', but i need to learn the proper routine elsewhere. keep up the great work that you do.
best wishes to you buddy. G.

      @crispinmcsticks 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If you do it live there’s plenty misdirection, the second card being motioned for instance, distance etc so that people aren’t too quick to spot it. Same goes for the old-fashioned flustration count.

imo - anyone who has seen this trick ever performed will spot not showing the middle card. The effect may work, but I think (often) the crowd would feel uneasy after watching ..as (maybe only on the subconscious level) people will know something is amiss. Possibly detracting from the overall 'wow/reveal' moment.
Still, as you say it makes this accessible to novices :) Thanks for sharing.
