In typical Flanagan fashion, this series is pretty flawless. For more of Father Paul, he has a storyline in the show Newsroom. That's where I saw him first. It's a great show, I would recommend it. I love that Lenore calls him "Grampus," it's really charming and it's a Poe reference. It's the name of a ship in his unfinished work about the adventures of Arthur Gordon Pym.
You should definitely watch Flanagan's films too, perhaps especially Gerald's Game which stars old Roderick here, and the wonderful Carla Gugino. And is an adaptation of a Stephen King novel.
There are also several cast members from Midnight Club in this one! Did you realize the male half of the pair of assistants working for Camille (the daughter with the platinum blonde, bob haircut) played Riley's younger brother in Midnight Mass? Also, the actress that played young Shirley in THOHH plays Madeline at the age when their mom died. I think her name's Lulu Wilson. She's in several Flanagan's shows. And Roderick's granddaughter, Lenore, is played by the child actress who played Abra in Dr. Sleep.. another Flanagan show. This one's a wild ride! Enjoy! 😊
FOTHOU is my absolute favorite series in the Flanaverse with Hill House being a close second. So excited we are finally here, I've been watching all your reactions waiting to get to this series ❤ I haven't noticed anyone who has reacted to this show or any comments I've ever read that realizes Verna is an anagram for Raven 🖤 I love little touches like that in writing.
Some of the characters that you haven't recognized are in Midnight Club or in Flanagan's movies. Lenore is in Dr. Sleep and Bruce Greenwood is in Gerald's Game. I say finish out Midnight Club to complete the TV side of the Flanaverse. It's much lighter. Based on a series of YA novels by Christopher Pike. Dark is SO GOOD though.
Yeah, the girl that's playing teenage Madeline also starred in Mike Flanagan's 2016 film "Ouija: Origin of Evil." The Ouija board planchette that Corey spotted at 11:21 is 100% a nod to that film and an easter egg for fans of Flanagan's work.

I think yall are REALLY gonna like this one. This is a RIDE, honestly feels like a great culmination of a lot of shat Flanagan has built with the other shows. Its fantasticccc, tnx for the reaction 🥰
The first episode features elements of 'The premature burial' and the first half of the 'Fall of the House of Usher' story, where a narrator is invited to the old and creaky house of an old friend named Roderick Usher, who is living there with his sister Madeline. They spend a lot of time simply talking or reading next to the fireplace. The narrator is switched around with Dupin, who is the main character from another story (Murders in the Rue Morgue, which is also the story where Camille is from).
This really is a banger from beginning to end. I'm glad you guys are excited about it and it's cool a couple of you are familiar enough with Poe's work to at least catch a few names or details that harken back to what is arguably some of the best written word produced on American soil. Makes it even more fun watching the reactions. As for Midnight Club, I think you guys would like it. It's completely different from his other work and you'll recognize a few of people from House of Usher. Some of the younger faces get to show off their acting chops. It's worth a watch. Dark will still be there after lol.

I actually loved Mark Hamill's performance here. I know he's very well known for playing Luke Skywalker, but I'm not a huge Star Wars fan so that doesn't mean much to me (plus those movies and therefore acting techniques in them are so outdated that it's painful to watch for me), but this is the show where I was like "whoa, Mark Hamill's a great actor!" For me it was kind of like seeing Robert Pattinson in Tenet after not knowing any of his work aside from Twilight where you think he's kind of silly as an actor and then realizing that he's actually really good if he has material to work with.
