Personally, I completely disagree with the Brita thing, especially if you're replacing it with water bottles. That's so bad for the environment, and if you're using "it was annoying" as a way to justify that? Even worse.
Oh hell no. Bring a Brita filter and use it. My college's water supply is nasty and you will catch things.

you don't need plastic ones. there are plenty of really cute ones at Target or Walmart that are washable and non-breakable! I got some pretty cute ones there...cups too! :)
I find reusable dishes easier, just wash and use over and over

Let me tell you. The printer that I bought was worth those three or four times because all the computer places are closed and I needed to print my papers so I could pass. So for me personally. I loved my printer
I hated the Brita too but constantly buying water bottles gets expensive after a while and a waste of plastic. I had the same issue but I stuck with the Brita and using water from the water fountain instead of plastic water bottles
I got brita water bottles instead of the big annoying pitcher lol
your tips about using plastic utensils and water bottles aren't very eco friendly :/
You can always recycle them if you choose to go that route! I know my university has both a recycling bin and trash bin for every dorm and apartment :)

Definitely do not use plastic silverware and paper plates. Stop being lazy and buy 2 plates, 2 bowls and a set of silverware. It doesn't take that long to wash dishes. 😒 also use a water bottle like a brita one or camelbak and don't buy bottled water. Let's not kill the ecosystem any faster than we already are
Or at least some cardboard recycled disposable plates (or some made from plants).
Not everyone wants to use a sink that like 12 people use after they use the toilet
Pouring water from a plastic bottle to a camel back is such a waste and so bad for the environment. Same with disposable dishes and silverware. Just stop being lazy and fill up the Brita and wash the dishes.

Brita makes water bottles and they have a filter in the straw, I love it and it's sooo easy!
too many water bottles are bad for the environment, try getting a water bottle with a filter instead some of them are super compact!

same with plastic dishes :/ depending on how often yu actually need them of course, but it's a lot of waste if you do use plastic knives and forks regularly

I play board games all the time with my college friends 😂 and a TV was so necessary for me. I needed my shows to relax. If I wanted to watch something at 11 or midnight, I wasn't gonna go bother a friend at that time or sit out in the lobby either.
I absolutely need a TV even if its smaller. I am a huge gamer and I cannot imagine parting with my ps4 during college that's an essential for me
I agree with most of this stuff. Of course, everyone is different, so here's my opinion on this that were completely different for me.
1. I brought real plates, bowls, cups, and silverware and it was really great. I really didn't mind washing them. Also I just thought it would be a waste of money and bad for the environment to have disposable stuff.
2. I basically used exclusively loose leaf paper and binders as school supplies. Every day my backpack would just have a clipboard with 6 pieces of paper and my laptop - super light-weight. At the end of the day, I would just put my notes into the corresponding binder. It was just easier than carrying around notebooks. And it's also easier when studying because you can spread out all the loose leaf notes instead of having to flip through a notebook, but that's just me.
3. I, and people on my floor, brought some board games. We had monthly board game nights that were really fun.
TOO MANY CLOTHES...YEAAASSSS. Really good point. Keep it in season, switch it out when you go home.
What course does she do that doesn't require binders???

all the comments are bashing her for not being "Eco-friendly" but really guys, how many of you have gone to college and how many of you actually have time in college to wash dishes, when you have studying, laundry, general other getting your life togetherness when you aren't in class?

Don’t buy plastic silverware or water bottles
You can bring LED candles, which are the battery operated ones. They can add a little ambience for stress relief.

You definitely need binders and note paper if your prof doesn't allow electronics. And honestly to some ppl writing down stuff help with studying way more than typing.
Another things is plastic utensils and water bottles can be quite expensive and wasteful. Please, switch to reusable ones if you can.

I wish I could just bring my seasonal clothes. I go to school 5 hours away, so I don't go home until Thanksgiving time. That would definitely save me some space!!
Britas take FOREVER to filter! My dorm has a filtered water and ice machine in their kitchen so I just fill up my camelbak on my way to class :) Loved this video!

About the printer, it really depends on your classes. I used my printer to print things like practice sheets and readings. But I had one class that had us printing every other day like it was insane how much we had to print. At some point we had to write a 10-15 pg story and print a copy for each person in class which (at minimum) would have been 70 pages double sided.
Also I think most buildings have water filters just like in the hall so if you have a water bottle you can just fill it up on the way out, our campus had them in all buildings and around everywhere and in all the dorms too so most people just used reusable bottles.

just after using the cups or plates just wash them right away and then dry them and the filter idea is not that hard to do either
I especially agree on the tv - many halls have communal tv's and it is often not in use, use your laptop for netflix. Also the printer, many schools offer free printing in general or up to a certain point or very cheap (about $0.02 - $0.08 a page) Great advice :)
Daniela Romeo lol at my college I have to pay $0.10 for black and white and for colored paper I have to pay $0.25, so I brought my own printer and print for "free" (I use free loosely because I still have to buy the paper, but it's worth it.)

Tip: if you bring duplicates sell the duplicate item and buy something else you need XD

While it may be a little extra work to clean dishes, it is so worth it to bring real ones. I cook most of my own food even as a freshman and it would be such a waste to use all plastic. Plus it is extremely wasteful and harmful for the environment. With the Britta, they are slow. However, Camelback filters are so much cheaper, and fill up at the speed of the tap.

your college series has been super helpful to me! im going to be a freshman in college and i'm leaving in a week! i disagree with you on the dishes and brita though :( i am bringing dishes and a brita because disposable items are SO bad for the environment. i think you should buy a water bottle with a filter rather than wasting the plastic to fill up your bottle. it honestly defeats the purpose of having a reusable water bottle! no hate, just sayin.

the only thing I dis agree on is the fridge and microwave cause I didn't bring a fridge or microwave cause my roommate said she was bringing one but I always felt like I was invading on her space after a while so if your like me you might want to just so that you have your own space

She made this video to tell people how to make things easier for themselves, not a video on how to be more environmentally friendly. She would have called the video something different if that was the purpose of it. Clearly she was just giving her advice, shes not out trying to ruin the environment and waste money. Though I want to keep the environment healthy, I also understand convenience. I personally do not like to have a lot of throw away items but it does not drive me to criticize her so rudely and harshly. Especially in college where it is hard to keep up with things all the time. This video is supposed to be her opinion, it is not about pleasing everyone. And people who watch it should understand that. Take a break, and you do you. If you want to do something differently then fine, just realize she did not make this video to fit everyone's needs.
And if you write a constructive comment that's awesome, but do not go and call people names and claim things you do not know about them just because one thing they say pisses you off.
We have the right to disagree, but doing it respectfully is more mature than just yelling shit because we don't agree with something.

Yes, But you can take weekend courses in some schools.

how do you know who your roommate is before you buy all of the stuff??
When you apply to a college, you can usually request a roommate! And if you choose to go random, most schools will have some time of like Facebook group or something with all of the incoming freshmen, or they will have you take a survey to match you up with someone and then you can get to know them before the year actually starts. From there you can text them and shop together and things like that (:
