Glad you had a good day buddy, i love a relaxing band and the atmosphere seemed really nice. Good to hear about the friendliness of the locals, not many places would go to the lengths they have to help you out.
You seem to be heading north, but the only way to leave Borneo by sea is the Indonesian part of the island from Kalimantan to either Java or Sulawesi I believe? Java is the obvious choice as there are regular ferries from Java to Sumatra then onto Port Dickson in Malaysia. I’ve done that trip myself!
I am confused by the traveller. He said he is not taking flights back to UK but rather via ferries or ships. Does he mean cruise ship? Ferries are for short distances. Does he mean hitch hiking on a trade ship/container ship?
I’m going to be doing a loop around and heading back south of Indonesian Borneo and heading on ferries via different islands towards the mainland. I haven’t looked at it properly but I will sometime in the next couple of weeks and once I get to Singapore, it’s land travel all the way :)
👍
Accommodation price threw a bit of a spanner into the daily budget.
A massive spanner!!
Beautiful temple indeed
I find small town people are nice people

Definitely the friendliest place I’ve been to :)

@@olderbackpacker I would advise to do some research on visas, they can sometimes take ages to get, depending on your route! Good luck 🤞
I’m hoping to get a visa on arrival at the border?
