When I visited Jerusalem a few years ago, for a few shekels, you could walk on the rampart around the old city. You could look down into the city, yards, schools shops. A highlight of the day
WOW...the old city looks amazing .Great place with great history. Thanks for sharing with us the great place in the world .Well done 👏and enjoy your time in the sunny Greece 🏖👍😁
Another great video - on a roll this summer; great to see! I wonder if you have any videos addressing tips regarding travel fatigue - relaxation techniques, routines, etc. Obviously, your travel stamina is through the roof, but it would be interesting to know if you have any tips for folks way less conditioned/experienced with long-term world travel yet inspired by your vlogs.
The artwork at 27:15 - 27:59 could be interpreted as Abraham taking his son to the mountain to offer him as a burnt offering. There on the mountain God provided himself the sacrifice, a ram caught in the thicket. The correlating scripture is Gen 22
Just caught up on your superb Israel videos , i spent 7 days in Jerusalem in 1994 and seeing the sights and old streets once again brings back some great memories. It certainly wasn't cheap even all those years ago ! Hope those sandles didn't rub too much !
Thanks for the detailed tour of Jerusalem. Fascinated with Jewish history. Will have to get around to watching the video again. Enjoy your trip to Greece!!
Hi Gabriel last time I saw one of your videos you were talking to Teal Swan some years back. Today you just appeared on my feed. Great to see what you've been up to. Keep up the great work
I believe the mosaic you were describing was depicting Abraham about to sacrifice his son Isaac but in the end sacrifices a ram instead (as per the Old Testament).
If you can pick up some oil, like coconut, I advise you smother your sandals in it, let it sit over night then wash off in the morning. It might speed up the softening of the leather. I leave it for longer, but 8-12 hours might still help. Another great video!
The Mosaics at 26:00 represents some of the major story's of the Torah and also depictions of the Twelve Tribes Of Israel! It was a depiction of the Akeida, where God tested Abraham for the 10th and final time, asking him to sacrifice his Son Isaac something that Abraham felt very strongly against as it was something that the Idolatrous people of the land were fully immersed in; The Sacrificial Cult Of Moloch! Abraham went along with it because God told him, Isaac was 38 years old at the time and in the end of the story, Isaac was switched for a Ram that had been caught in a thicket of brush.
The Old City is my favorite part of Jerusalem. That said, other things that you should do are: 1) have coffee or breakfast on the terrace of the King David hotel and 2) wander the narrow alleys of Yemin Moshe, a neighborhood across the ravine from the Christian quarter. I was there once during Rosh Hashana and managed to hear a shofar from the Western Wall, the Muslim call to prayer and church bells all at the same time. Incredible.
Hi Gabriel, get your sandals wet when you go on a beach and they wear in quicker and not so painful when you are wearing in. Football players put new boots on in the bath then wear them in.
My first video of this channel was the video at the damascus gate 4 years ago. I think this is your first video in 4 years where you visit a location twice.
The mural with the guy holding a sword is Abraham about to sacrifice his only son but the angel intervened and provided a ram, see it stuck in the bush, to sacrifice as a burnt offering.

Great video from Jerusalem!🙂👍 I stayed in a hostel run by a Palestinian family on Ladakh street. The name caught my attantion too because of Ladakh in India. Ladakh is actually the name of the hospital, that was once there and it literally means "refuge for the suffering" derives from Psalms 9:10.

I am German, and I deplore deeply the pain (the word being much to weak to describe the reality) the generation of my grandparents and the nationalsocialist regime have caused first to the Jews of Europe and thereafter to the Palestinians. I fully understand the need of the Jews/Israelis for a safe homeland and I also understand the grief of the Palestinians to be driven of the land they inhabited for centuries. The Shoa and the Nakba are fruits of the same horrible tree of sadness. I think Germany got off way to easy after the second world war and I still think we should be called to responsibility to solve the problems we after all have caused. It is not fair that we do live as one of the wealthiest nations in the world and Palestinians are being pushed to live in those conditions.
It's not only the Germans who are "responsible" for Israel and the Zionist movement. It's the pogroms in Russia and Ukraine, the massacres and persecutions of Jews for 2000 years throughout Europe or the non violent yet crushing antisemitism and discrimination against Jews like in the Dreyfus affair in France, which put the Idea in Herzl's head that the only solution for the Jews is a homeland of their own. There should be a distinction though between the Nakba and the state of the Palestinians today which in my opinion is 100% their own doing. It's their own doing because the Palestinians are not willing to reach a peaceful compromise over the land. They started the wars and continue to fight Israel and their suffering is the direct result of that. The roadblocks, the security wall, checkpoints etc., all of these could have been avoided had they agreed to live peacefully alongside Israel instead of trying to destroy it. Also the gap between the standard of living of the Israelis compared to that of the Palestinians is a result of the Israelis' focus on life, creation, development and care for their fellow citizens. That's why there's a democracy in Israel and there isn't in the Palestinian territories. There's also a gap between the Israeli economy an all other Arab countries. It's because the populations are different and not because the Israelis oppress the Palestinians and prevent them from building a more decent lives for themselves.
@@abcxyz8787 All this hatred makes me so sad and hopeless. The transgenerational trauma we inherit from our parents and grandparents which causes new trauma that is being passed on and on and on. Why can´t humanity pull the brakes and concentrate on healing and repairing the damage that was done instead of just reproducing the violence we suffered. Violence and hatred are so toxic. Maybe they feel like a quick relief but on a deeper level they keep on poisoning our own lifes, our future and our families. But I am afraid those things accompany mankind since we were living in caves or since Cain slaughtered Abel.
@@kaes7041 I agree with you that the situation is bad. I sympathize with the Palestinians and I think that we Jews have made mistakes but I think that many times the Palestinians just lie about what happened and what's happening. Hatred and violence towards the Arabs was never a part of Zionism. No one hated the Arabs and no one advocated to take their lands by force or kill them. The Zionist project was all about buying lands and settling and developing the land. The violence started from the Arabs' side who felt that the Jews take over the land. Not by force, but with money and numbers and development. So the Arabs chose war. They thought at the time (in 1948 and before that) that they had a chance of getting rid of the Jews by force because they outnumbered the Jews and had help from Arabs around the middle east, but they lost. The Nakba was a result of that war and a result of the Jews fear that by leaving many hostile Arabs in the territory of the Jewish state, they will create a security threat. Many Arabs also fled out of fear without being forced out. The Palestinians were no saints. They murdered or chased out every single Jew in the territories they conquered. Israel actually let many Palestinians stay in its territory and they are now equal citizens of Israel and have a better standard of living than Arabs who live under Palestinian rule or under any other Arab rule actually. I sympathize with the Palestinians because if the Zionist movement hadn't been founded, the Brits would have probably given the land to the Arabs. I don't know if there would have been a Palestinians state, probably not. probably the land would have been split between Jordan, Egypt and Syria. But it would have been part of an Arab country. But on the other hand there are the Jews who no one cared about and no one treated fairly and equally and it's the non Jewish world who is responsible for pushing the Jews to a corner where they saw no other solution to their problems other than trying to establish a Jewish state in the land of their forefathers.
@@abcxyz8787 The Jewish people is special.Whether it is that they are really chosen by god or whether it is their emphasis on education and study or the historic circumstances they experienced or any combination of the above no one will ever know for sure. But they produced so many men and women of such extraordinary intellectual capacity from Albert Einstein to all the great philosophers to Erich Mühsam to name just a few, that I am confident they will find a way in the end. I just sometimes have the feeling they project some of the pain and humiliation they had to experience in the holocaust on the Palestinians instead of blaming the real predators because it is less painful maybe? But I admit I am not in the position to give advice on this delicate subject. Anyway, I am glad the Jewish people is thriving despite all its historic enemies and you can be so proud of what you achieved by the strength and resilience of the Jewish nation all by themselves. Our loss that we don´t have you among us in Europe anymore.
@@kaes7041 My last comment was censored and I don't feel like writing it again. I'll just write that Israelis have suffered a lot of violence at the hand of the Palestinians and that's the main reason why some Israelis don't trust the Palestinians and don't like them very much. Germany seems to be to doing quite well without having many Jews in it, so I guess you don't lose a lot for not having a lot of Jews in Germany today.
27:56 Ram in the bush. When Isaac was going to sacrifice his son God sent a Ram in the bush. Gen 22:13-14. When you said it did not look good with someone about to get head chopped.

Yes, I have a pair of Tevas with me. But I also like to have a pair of more casual sandals. You can see my Tevas in this video: th-cam.com/video/sZ-3jMPYI90/w-d-xo.html
That mosaic you were referring to of the man with the sword holding the boy over the fire is surely a depiction of Abraham who was asked by God to sacrifice his son Isaac (as a test). When God saw that Abraham was willing to offer his son as a sacrifice, he blessed him and also sent a ram to be sacrificed in Isaac's stead. The story can be found in Genesis 22: Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together. When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. "Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.” The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”
A Brief History of the name Palestine and its derivative Adjective Palestinian: 1. Palestine is Judea, the Roman name for ‘Land of the Jews’ when the Roman Emperor Hadrian re-named this land as Palestina in 135 CE. Since then, it was never an Islamic State. [‘In the 2nd century CE, the Romans crushed the Jewish revolt and Judea was renamed Syria Palestina’ - Jewish Virtual Libr.] 2. The Pre-Islamic Arabs were in the Roman armies and witnessed both Jerusalem’s destruction and the name change of Judea. [Flavius Josephus Wars, Book V, Ch 13, 4]. As well, the Quran mentions Israel as the land of the Jews. Thereby, the Muslim people would be fully aware Palestine referred to the Jews for 2,000 years. 3. The historical archives of the Persians, Greeks, Romans, British, French and Americans refer to Palestine as the ‘historical homeland of the Jews’, not of the Muslim peoples. America’s early Presidents initiated Israel’s return prior to Britain and Herzl: “Restoring the Jews to their national home in Palestine is a noble dream. My emancipated hope is the restoring of the Jews to their nation home in Palestine” - President Abraham Lincoln to Canadian Zionist Wentworth Monk; 1863. 4. The term Palestine was introduced in the Hebrew Bible from the term Plishtim [‘Invaders’]. The Muslims disdained the name Palestine, as they do the term ‘Zionists’ today. In 1947, the Arabs virtually begged of Britain not to use this name for the land. Thereby, the usurping of this name in the 1960’s is not credible as a mark of land ownership, because it was not one of historical usage by the Arabs. 5. A host of Islamic scholars and historians decried and rejected Muslims as Palestinians.: “Allah Gave the Land of Israel to the Jews. The al-Aqsa Mosque was built on top of Solomon’s Temple.” - Eleventh century historian Muhammad Ibn Ahmad al-Maqdisi and fourteenth century Iranian religious scholar Hamdallah al-Mustawfi // “There is no such thing as ‘Palestine’ in history, absolutely not.” - Arab-American historian and Princeton University Professor, Philip Hitti, testifying before the Anglo-American Committee in 1946] 6. A host of Jewish organizations and Institutions were called by the prefix of Palestine or Palestinian in the 20th century, including ‘The Jewish Palestine Brigade’ in Britain’s WW2 Military Forces; The [Jewish] Palestine Symphony Orchestra; Today’s Jerusalem Post media was called “The Palestine Post”. 7. There are no Arab Muslim Palestinians on record prior to the 20th century; the land was referred only as the homeland of the Jews. It is validated by a host of archives by many nations, and some one million Archaeological relics. Thereby, the nativity claim can only apply to Jews. In fact, there was never a time of no Jews in Palestine the past 2,000 years, as evidenced by the Crusaders, Islamic invasions and the previous Ottomans. 8. Generally, real natives do not usurp the name of other natives, especially one they disdained. [“There is a propaganda war going on now with regard to the term ‘Palestine.’ It is specifically employed to avoid the use of the name Israel, and must be considered an anti-Israel term.” - Dr. Thomas McCall, the Senior Theologian of Levitt Ministry, quoting Zola Levitt.] 9. The previous Islamic Ottoman rulers of Arabia declared Palestine as the homeland of the Jews. - “Who can challenge the rights of the Jews in Palestine? Good Lord, historically it is really your country” - Ottoman Mayor and scholar Yusuf Diya al-Khalidi; Jerusalem, 1899. 10. Judea’s original, previous name was Israel in 1002 BCE, established under King David; and again in 1947 when this country was re-established by the UN. ‘Israel’ is mentioned in the Quran as one belonging to the Jews. [Joshua J. Mark , Ancient History Encyl.) 11. All Religious Scriptures acknowledge Palestine as the ‘Land of Israel’; ‘Land of Judea’; and ‘Land of the Jews’ - including the Hebrew Bible [1 Samuel 13:19]; The New Testaments [ ‘And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.’ - Matt. 2:21]; The Quran - [Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:20-21.]; and the Dead Sea Scrolls. 12. The Original Philistines converted to the Hebrew Belief and became Israelites. The term Palestine is derived from the Philistines, a Greek Island people who invaded Canaan some 4,000 years ago. The Philistines converted to the Hebrew belief under a peace offer by King David, and held prominent positions in David’s army. [“They (the Philistines) met with a severe defeat, however, early in the reign of David (2 Samuel 5:20), he succeeded in reducing them to a state of vassalage (2 Samuel 8:1). In the year of the fall of Samaria (721 B.C.) they became vassals of Sargon. After the time of the Assyrians the Philistines cease to be mentioned by this name. In the ebb and flow of warring nations
Very good info. I just want to add that the picture many that "Palestinians" regard as a sort of proof that Palestinian existed and was theirs (because they call themselves Palestinians) - the picture "visit Palestine" was actually drown by a Jew who wanted to encourage more Jews to visit their ancestors homeland and the Palestinians have turned it into part of their national heritage 🙂

If you have time you would enjoy visiting the ruins at Beit She'an, Megiddo, Zippori and Caesarea. Also Masada on the dead sea. Love your videos.

The story can be found in Genesis 22:
Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham,
"Father?”
“Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.
“The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.”
And the two of them went on together. Abraham!”
“Here I am,” he replied.
"Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”
Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”
The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”
"The city of Zion will be filled, and there we will sing a new song, and we will ascend with joy".💙🙏🕎🇮🇱✡️
A Brief History of the name Palestine and its derivative Adjective Palestinian:
1. Palestine is Judea, the Roman name for ‘Land of the Jews’ when the Roman Emperor Hadrian re-named this land as Palestina in 135 CE. Since then, it was never an Islamic State. [‘In the 2nd century CE, the Romans crushed the Jewish revolt and Judea was renamed Syria Palestina’ - Jewish Virtual Libr.]
The al-Aqsa Mosque was built on top of Solomon’s Temple.” - Eleventh century historian Muhammad Ibn Ahmad al-Maqdisi and fourteenth century Iranian religious scholar Hamdallah al-Mustawfi // “There is no such thing as ‘Palestine’ in history, absolutely not.” - Arab-American historian and Princeton University Professor, Philip Hitti, testifying before the Anglo-American Committee in 1946]
Thomas McCall, the Senior Theologian of Levitt Ministry, quoting Zola Levitt.]
[Joshua J. Mark , Ancient History Encyl.)
Yeah for 50%..
