A wonderful actress, she was loveable and a joy to watch. Thankfully she did not listen to the criticism but kept true to her passion. The film and theater arts are richer today for her incredible contributions, joviality, and serious devotion to become the wonderful actress that she was. Bless her may she rest in heavenly peace.
I liked everything except for the title! Why is her ending sad? It seems to me she did her best work in her last years, won all the awards and acclaim she always deserved. Proved her dad and so many others wrong! She really was Maude! She has been the best role model. Love her so much!
I'm struggling to discover what's "strange and sad" about a brilliant woman whose body of work is lauded by generations and who lived to a wonderfully fulfilled old age. "L-I-V-E, get out there and take a chance", and that's what she did. 🥰
I knew Ruth! I lived on Elmwood Ave so did Ruth. I met here in NYC while there in the 80's I met her again here in Quincy, MA when we dedicated an amphitheatre to her. I have many of her items from her estate. So much of this is wrong. She did not have a sad ending. You show photos of her then focus in on photos that are not her. You disrespect her legacy and memory! Shame on you!

Whoever made this (American Legends Tribute??) MUST get rid of the horrible robo-voice that narrates this video!! Shame on you for pretending there was some "strange and sad ending" to her life, which ISN'T TRUE, and even this video says she died quietly at home at age 88. Please take the time to narrate this wonderful woman's accomplishements with a real voice from a real person! Ruth Gordon was a strong woman WAY before her time, doing what she wanted and needed to do long before women in America were allowed to be feminists and leaders of their own life. I had the privilege of seeing Ruth Gordon in her late 70's in An Evening With Ruth Gordon, where she just stood on stage and talked about whatever she felt like discussing. It was magical, and she was magical. She's always been a hero of mine, and her books should be required reading for the young people today.
