I was born in 2002 and played the Shenmue Remaster in 2018. I always wanted to play it because it was enchanting to the people who played it. And a certain creepy beard man hyped me up even more. ;) When I got to play it I realised that Shenmue was very different from other games. This makes Shenmue timeless. It's just as unique now as it was back in 1999. Call it an Open World Action Adventure, a Virtua Fighter RPG or F.R.E.E game, but for me Shenmue is a Slice of epic life game. It immerses you in a free World where you do generic day to day life things, to find out where the man who killed your father is. When I played through the first game, got used to this type of gameplay and started Shenmue II... It was astonishing. I have never been blown away so much by the sheer vastness of Shenmue II Hong Kong. It's of course not as open as any modern open world, but it is (or maybe just feels) more alive and detailed. It truly brings home the feeling of entering a huge city after coming from the small Dobuita district. And the game has three moments like that. It was so good that I forced myself from playing it to have more Shenmue before 3 came out. But I ended up playing the game at the beginning of the pandemic. And I loved every second of it and playing Shenmue during lockdown made it shine even more. And yes for me Shenmue is an easy 10/10. Shenmue is not for everyone and patience is a key word here. Either be patient or be ready to be tought patience. One thing is certain: This video truly prepares you for the Shenmue experience. Thank you Sega, Corey Marshall and Adam Koralik for letting people figure Shenmue out. ;)
Like the Sega Dreamcast, Shenmue is very special to me. It was groundbreaking when it was released and i was so immersed in it’s detailed world, story and characters. It’s not going to be to everyone’s taste, but i love this game to bits and im so glad to have the trilogy on ps4.
"It’s not going to be to everyone’s taste" I think it is, but the problem is some people just don't have the patience to discover it. If there is a game out there I believe everyone should play it would be Shenmue and then Resident Evil 4 a close second.
Shenmue is probably a very hard game to love in 2021 (for young and new players at least). I was 14 Years old when I played the remaster of Shenmue I & II, and I didn't expect this, but Shenmue changed my Life forever. I really wasn't impressed by the graphics given the simple fact that this was a 1998 Dreamcast Game, but I got used to it pretty quickly. Weirdly enough, the atmosphere and aesthetics (mostly created by the music and graphics) of this 1998 Dreamcast game flashed me away... The Story was also a point that drove me crazy, especially the transition from Shenmue to Shenmue II. I can't describe how excited I was for the trip to Hong Kong. Well, the gameplay was familiar, yet very different from what I was used to from Open world games. But I must say I adore Yu Suzuki's take on an open world game (even though the term "Open World" didn't exist back then). All in all, I am very very grateful for everybody that has worked on this game. I will never forget how amazing AM2 was and it's also a huge pleasure to see that Corey Marshall is still to this day supporting Shenmue 😃 Thank you SEGA, AM2 and Yu Suzuki for making me a different person.
Sega, this is by far your best game ever!!! Such an awesome experience. There's no game i played more than Shenmue!!! Give the game more content (and credit). We, the fans, will love it.
Great to see SEGA promoting Shenmue, my all -time favourite game. Now I’d like them to give some attention to Skies of Arcadia, my 2nd favourite. Remaster please!
I've replayed Shenmue 1 & 2 almost every single year for the past 20 years and now i've added Shenmue 3 to that tradition and I've no intention of stoping now; so bring on Shenmue 4 to join the party.
I just found my old Dreamcast, which I thought was lost in a flood years ago, and bought a copy of the original Shenmue. Can't wait to start playing it!
Step 1 - Buy a console/PC Step 2 - Buy Shenmue (for the console you bought, this is important) Step 3 - Play Shenmue How could Sega miss these important tips?
Greatest promotional video ever made for Shenmue. All aspects of the games are super well summarized. I like how you introduce the action phase. Great job!
My main tips would be to set demon drop as your R move and to realize that the game becomes much less FREE after getting the forklift job so do everything you want in Yokosuka before starting it
⚠️ A helpful tip for fellow new players: hold [L2] while facing name plates to zoom in and see the names translated. This will save you a lot of time and grief. This is the kind of tip I was hoping to find in this video, I swear I was about to give up after knocking on every door in Sakuragaoka about three times each.
Been playing the digital release and it's pretty good so far. I think the main thing I like is shorter load times lol. But also, being able to experience the first game, since I missed out on the Dreamcast version.
So nice to see SEGA giving Shenmue some attention. The games have cult status for a reason. SEGA have been listening to their customers much better these days, so when is the next instalment, Shenmue 4 coming out?
They go to the trouble of putting this together two years after the game came out but yet they will have nothing to do with Shenmue III or any further sequels.
For shenmue 4 maybe better the combat sistem make it like a real virtua fighter or a dead or alive style, imagine ryo fighting multiple opponents like a pure combat game where fight will be more simulation and strategic. also more rpg aspect, skills, and leveling technique energie and health of ryo like the game control. add a sistem to chose action and decision like mass effect game i think a franchise is great and can be even greater so to speak Make it possible to port your seved progression from shenmue 1 through the rest of the franchise.
It's a shame Shenmue 3 was nowhere near as good as the First 2, and this isn't rose coloured glasses tinting it or nostalgia, I played the first two back to back before I even started the third.
@@Zicetec2000 what I mean is these two games are so different we shouldn't compare them. Shenmue is love. Shenmue is life. No other franchise touched my soul as deeply as this.
Always enjoy seeing Sega give more attention to Shenmue--thank you guys.
Thanks for letting me write and be in this!
Really well done Adam, you and Corey really did well on this!
@@Flagwaver49
Thanks to you :-)
You did really well! I enjoyed it. ⭐ I still need to play the second part.
How come SegaAmerica didn't share this?
Dont make us wait another 18 years for Shenmue 4...
I think a Shenmue spin-off game is what we need now, and then release Shenmue 4. Like a Shenmue karate game, or a Shenmue racing game.
@@LeadMe2TheBlissShenmue vs Yakuza fighting game

I really didn’t see this coming.
All open world games owe their existence to Yu Suzuki, and Shenmue.
Thank you Sega and especially Yu Suzuki for giving us Shenmue

When I hear people meme this game without even playing it, I feel bad for the experience they’re missing. Truly unique and now often misunderstood.
I love you Sega, and Shenmue is the number 1 reason.
Let's get Shenmue 4
Shenmue 1 & 2 are absolute masterpieces, don't let it go so many years without proper attention, Sega !
Some part of Sega hasn't forgotten about Shenmue. Hope to see more!

Sadly, it most likely didn't but I feel like it could've been much more successful if Shenmue 3 would have been a hit!
Amazing video well done 👏
I've started with shenmue since 2001

Sure this is all very interesting, but do you have any idea where I can find some sailors?
Shenmue 3 was published by deep silver. Why wasn't it by Sega?
Can we have Shenmue 3 for the Xbox One now please?
Okay, okay, I am going to buy all the Shenmue Games, but what about Shenmue 4, SEGA?
This is awesome, very nice.
Really enjoyed that. Good job everyone!
Years ago I was Chinese.
Shenmue 4 confirmed!
Hope so
I'd love to believe this, but maybe in 26 years. What I think would be much greater is a Shenmue I & II Remake in dragon engine.

here is another- pretend Shenmue 3 ever existed and move on after Shenmue 2!
No i don't think i will
