I’ve had 7 of the W168 A Class and loved each one. The A170 CDI has great torque, and the long wheelbase versions have enormous interior space. They’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but I enjoyed each one.
Makes me so happy to know these cars are actually being driven. It’s what they were made for and what’s best for them. You make yourself happy and everyone around you that gets to see it

Hey Doug, long time viewer, first time poster here. KWs are amazing. Obviously not the same kinda car; but I replaced the 4C suspension in my Volvo V70R with some KWs. Absolutely bonkers change in performance. If there's one mod you do, that's certainly the one!
Big respect for Doug actually driving the CGT and investing into making it more drivable. That may come at a cost in value, but the last, great analog hypercar deserves to be enjoyed. Personally, as a former owner of an OG NSX, I like the integrated spoiler in the down position, but I do see how the raised position makes it look more dramatic.

Btw, the fact that you are proactively prevents issues rather than wait for problems to happen is why I certainly respect you as a car enthusiast, I imagine most others feel the same way too and because you are a public figure who has a lot of other car enthusiasts that also like cars and many unlike me might actually be able to afford your high-end cars, you have established that your cars are taken care of and will need nothing if you decided to sell them. In other words, if you decide to sell any of your cars, the meticulous way you take care of your cars and your public reach will guarantee your cars will command significantly higher prices than other comparable cars.

Dude, Doug already went to a lot of detail in a previous video when he first purchased the car. He actually explained it much better in that video than this one. Sure, there was some quality-of-life mods, but the wing and suspension work were definitely a service visit.

Huge difference in the realiability of the car.

I'm remembering a video made by Doug waaay back when he had his first Ferrari where he said "just because you can afford to purchase a car doesn't mean you can afford to own it". Hey I live in Columbus, Ohio and Evan’s Automotive it’s not too far from me! Over the years when I drive past his shop, I have seen countless of beautiful exotics over there sitting outside. A few years ago he did some work on my uncle’s 1991 Jaguar XJ6 and George has always done great work. Your Countach is in great hands!
A wealthy business man went to Zagato and had them create a new rear end for the car to solve the issue. Google the Carrera GTZ, looks amazing! Doug’s route is much cheaper!

@@prasad530 I know I got mines from Spencer gifts in the mall. It was probably 25ish years ago, 1998-99. The original image has a red 360 coupe, yellow 996 Turbo, silver SL55, white w/ blue stripes Viper coupe, and a red Z8.
It's all about the driving experience, how it makes you feel. Acceleration, top speed, lap times, handling - don't matter. There will always be a car that has a higher top speed or a lower lap time. But, there are few cars that can make you feel so good.
The best of all possible 'spoiler' alerts. Were I in your position, I'd have made the same decisions you did and for the same reasons. Now let's have some _extended_ driving videos of that CGT with a fully-mic'ed exhaust!
Ugh… now I want a carbon fiber NSX-R wing and KW coilovers for my 92 NSX… I also did the same maintenance thing to my NSX last summer. Sent it to “THE” guy and took care of everything on a 32yr old car. Now it runs perfect and I’m confident in taking it anywhere.

If you have a high end 1911, there are a small number of gunsmiths that will actually add value and provenance to your gun with their work. You always mention that one of those guys built, or worked on your gun It sounds like your 2 "mechanics" add that type of value in the exotic car world

Making your fun car more usable (and reliable) is key to more fun, in your fun car. Adding cheap Bluetooth ($20) and remote top-down ($200) to my 2006 Jaguar XKR has turned my weekend fun car to my daily fun car (when not stored for Chicago winters). Updating the suspension is for next year. I’m still looking for “that guy”. Also, I love someone who’s daily is a Ford GT!
Grinding going into second is most definitely a synchro. You can double-clutch it to get more time out of it. Clutch in-neutral-clutch out-clutch in-2nd. I used to have to double-clutch my old 88 Mustang LX 5.0 SSP with a T-5 when upshifting from 1st to 2nd. I got really quick with it with practice.
My 997 Turbo had a hydraulic failure on the spoiler left side. I bought the Renkit electric replacement lifts and it took me about 6 hours to do the install. It think it cost me about $700 for the kit with the required spanner wrench. What I noticed right away was how much faster it deployed. And like you I want my spoiler up all the time. The heated seats are definitely a plus, I don’t listen to music when I have a NA V10.
When Doug brought up his experience with his Countach, this just made me look forward to whenever he's able to get his hands on the Aston Martin Valkyrie since that car is in many ways like the Countach in the sense that they're both absolutely ridiculous cars. I know Manny Khoshbin has a Valkyrie Spider on order so hopefully Doug will be able to review it once it arrives.
I don't like that comparison at all... Valkyrie is meant to be driven hard with track engineering meanwhile Countach has worst visibility on the planet and isn't even that good to drive hard They're both exotics. Along with dozens of other cars.
It sparks much joy that doug really just bought this insanely expensive car and is doing everything he can to drive it and make it do what it was meant to do. Rescued it from its last owners.
I've always said the Carrera GT looked like a pickup truck lol. It's definitely not a classically beautiful car. The 918 Spyder is the Carrera GT done right, in terms of design.
I used to live right next to that Evans automotive shop and I never knew they were the people for Countach's. I would always dream over some of the other fancy cars in their lot though.

Funny thing is that "spoiler kit" is just a modified retrofit mod from the electric spoiler used first on the RS5, A7, 1st gen Panamera.

I've always said the Carrera GT looked like a pickup truck lol. It's definitely not a classically beautiful car. The 918 Spyder is the Carrera GT done right, in terms of design.
I used to live right next to that Evans automotive shop and I never knew they were the people for Countach's. I would always dream over some of the other fancy cars in their lot though.

I can honestly say, that as my yearly salary is just north of 50k….that I am NOT a guy who spends, 50k on servicing my Carrara GT…And it’s all voluntary! So, while we enjoy your content, we sit and watch rich guys spend crazy money on their crazy cars, while we drive used carrollas and such. So thanks but no thanks…

Feel your pain when it comes to having a steep driveway. I have about a 12 degree slope. I have my car raised as high as it will go and scrapes everytime.
There's a really good mechanic in Sausalito you may want to use for exotic services. That means road trip, and rental back, rather than shipping.

ofc i’ve never driven a cgt, but doesn’t it seem a little weird to change the suspension? you absolutely praised the driving experience in every review and said you loved that it had the analog suspension and steering. i personally wouldn’t want my 2006 car to drive like a 765lt
