When you apply to jobs for software dev. I would recommend 1.) Give an overview of how you are going to solve their problem. Don't ask(often) for more details to start out with. Don't even say what you've done in the past. Breakdown their problem and give a highlevel overview of your solution. 2.) Quote above budget. You should find a lot of work in the $75-100 range doing this.

the way i look at freelancing website is that you don't need to focus on the high level programming stuff but instead focus on the basic one like coding on shopify or wordpress. They have a lot of hiring on that niche rather than from scratch app development. but yeah of-course, you need to have "a champion profile :)" to show of your skills. btw very entertaining video bro. thanks sharing

@@leoofgl Eat poop sandwiches and take low paying projects, develop a few example projects toward a niche you are trying to fill. Something like that. I'd say take a look at some freelancer profiles and look back to their earlier projects you'll see some of them taking $5-$10 hr projects or $20 projects for things that will probably take a few hours of research or implementation time to do.

If you want to make money freelancing, sites like upwork, freelancer etc, from my experience was impossible to get jobs from, more direct approaches have higher success of working out, directly hitting up a local buisness, or hitting up new projects might work better for ya

    • @looyd

I think Freelancing experience really changes based on the quality of portfolio of the freelancer, as I know many for whom it went really really well, but they usually were very really really good at the thing they did.
Doing work for a Local business is one of the top ways to get your foot in the door but its also not as easy to just go up to a business and say "Hey... need a website? "

And yeah i get that for some it might be real uncomfortable to just hit up a business locally, but looking at more local job postings and applying to them is still a good idea, or maybe going to forums or a Discord server filled with pepole who have buisnesses that could use a website or other programming services and advertise there
