    2 thoughts...
    1) use as a new launch control method.
    2) add nylon bushings so the electromagnetics can pivot slightly for better contact on non-flat surfaces.

    LeDrib, no worries about breaking the magnet. There aren’t any.. it’s an electromagnet😆. The thinner the material you’re sticking it to, the less ferromagnetic saturation there will be, and vice versa. If you reverse the polarization on the electromagnet when you want to release, it’ll reverse the saturation and allow you to become unstuck easier. Only necessary if it’s not releasing though😎 awesome idea!

  • @natec7398
    @natec7398 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    You guys should've throttled up hard to get momentum and then do an inverted yaw spin then stick the magnet to the bottom part of that water tower, than release the magnet and dive the pole. Style points baby 😉

      I scrolled down just to see if anyone else had the same feelings as me. This kind of stuff I find neat for what it is, but people against use will say "they just attached a drone to the drinking water supply of a city" or some other crap. This was stupid, just because you can do something, should you?

    • @thengine7
      @thengine7 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@freiermann7 I had the same thought. You could attach a satellite gps tracker to a magnet. Then covertly attach it to the hulls of any number of ships. @licensetodrive9930 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@conorstewart2214 I did think about how to use neodymium magnets so you wouldn't have to rely on the motors providing enough thrust to free itself from a metal surface, use servos to push itself free, but that adds unnecessary complication into the setup and still has the issue of being stuck if it loses power.

    • @conorstewart2214
      @conorstewart2214 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@licensetodrive9930 yeah and also the potential weight and size of the servos required for the amount of force the magnets would need to have. Servos could be better if you needed it to stay up for a long time so it's not constantly drawing a lot of power like the electromagnets do
