  • We couldn't resist a food tour at Riga Central Market, the largest food market in all of Europe! The market is built in 5 zeppelin hangars, and is included with Riga Old Town as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After arriving in the food court hangar (Centrālais Gastro Tirgus), we were overwhelmed with the sheer amount of food to choose from. We ended up trying some really delicious foods and having an awesome day at Riga Central Market. This is by far one of the top things to do in Riga!
Thanks so much for watching! Don’t forget to like and subscribe :)

Hey guys! A great vlog :) If you are still in Latvia, please do try to visit some medieval German crusaders castles outside Riga, for example Sigulda-Turaida, Cesis (the capital of the Livonian Order), castle of Bauska. Or a beautiful 18th century baroque palace of Rundale, it is staining, like Versailles in France, it was build for a Duke of Kurland - Ernst Johann von Biron ( a lover of a Russian empress Anna and regent of the Russian Empire 1740), for example HBO series Catherine The Grate (which is now on) was filmed there and resent BBC series War an Pace as well.
Also a little town of Kuldiga is like a frozen history, it barely changed since the 18th century and looks like something from a fairy-tale, also in Kuldiga you can find the widest waterfall in Europe. And of course, everywhere you go you can try some local food and beer, even some local vine (the most northern in the world) :)
Latvia is a relatively small country, so you can get anywhere in the morning by bus or a train and get back to Riga in the evening.
    Enjoy Latvia :)

We love to make fries from fresh potato which is much more flavourful and not so dry as store bought frozen ones. Using dried herbs in the oil adds to the flavour along with the fresh ones on top.
With two weeks in Latvia you'll get so fat not being able to resist all the food and you'll love it! :D

Riga Central Market pavilions have never been zeppelins. They are built using metal structures that were intended for zeppelin hangar construction. Which he was abandoned leaving German troops in 1919.

From a fellow American here - I actually visited and enjoyed Riga back in November 2018 to celebrate my birthday, which falls on the same day as Latvia's national day, effectively a double birthday celebration - and both were milestones (different milestones, though) - I did visit the Central Market on one of the afternoons there and had lunch (a seafood soup) and bought some nuts at one of the stalls trying to speak in somewhat poor, but passable Latvian.

These millenials should have tried real Latvian food-piragi, all kinds of excellent breads and cheeses and many varieties of great beer. Latvia has great and inexpensive dairy products.I was there at the same time this was filmed. They should have gone to the Maxima supermarket right next to the doors that they entered and saved big bucks on better food. A 1/2 litre can or bottle of 5.2% beer is about one euro. Valmiermuiza cost about 1.75 and is as good as any I have ever tried Some are between .59-.79. Last year I bought marijuana seed bread and marijuana butter. The EU limits the THC content so you can't get high. The bread was extremely high fiber and cost 3 euros for a small loaf and a small tub of the butter(tastes like peanut butter) was 2 euros. Great place.

@Danius Von Gailis Typical Americans. They travel 5000 miles to eat french fries. Why didn't they eat at McDonalds instead? I have been back in the USA for one month and already I miss Latvian Rudzu Maize.
