  • Loopz is a portable shower system which recirculates and filters the water. So.. think about those van trips, off grid cabins or surf sessions where you are in need of a shower?
No worries about the water or power supply, Loopz runs on 12V and requires only 6L (1,5 gallons) of water to enjoy a comfortable and endless shower ;)

This system is very good for van life, especially as an extra for a multifilter system.
The first quick shower would go to a wastewater reservoir, and then after rinsing, you switch to this system and shower until the water gets cold. You'll already be clean, so the filters won't get clogged. Then you drain the water to a gray water reservoir with extra filters.
This will probably reduce water consumption by more than 70%.

Honesly, you could achieve this with a small shower pump system from amz and a kiddy pool, and if you want hot water add a propane camp shower heater, put it all in big tote or kiddy pool and recirculate. Add an inline filter before it hits the heater. And you would have the same setup only better because it heats...but not as fancy looking, for a fraction of the cost.

Yes. But do a quick 3 minute shower first - then dump THAT dirty, soapy water into the grey water tank. Then recirculate clean, hot water for as long as you like.
Of course that water should be filtered, as it potentially could be swallowed or inhaled as steam.

I've looked at a number of recirculating shower units for campers, and they seem pretty convoluted to assemble. Not to mention you've got to change out the filters once a month. I can easily see spending 500+ dollars on the parts. I believe this unit from Loops is around the thousand dollars US shipped, and also includes the shower base which is typically another $150.00.
The question I have is how often do the filters need to be changed? The systems I've seen typically have a 20 µm filter followed by a 5 µm sediment filter and then finally a 5 µm carbon filter, and then there is the final UV filter.
And most of the systems usually have a prefilter as well that need to get changed. If the filters can be rinsed as opposed to changed, I can quickly see where the savings would be substantial. I'm not seeing anything on the website that talks about replacement filters other than the big stainless steel one, which I gather is more of a prefilter.
And if a heating pad could be developed that would be awesome, I would imagine the energy demands would be pretty high though to heat water. Pumping the water through a heat exchanger might be a cheaper option, but would be interesting to see what the company develops here.
I just like to know about the filters. Could Hamwells respond please.

      Hi Troy,
Thanks for your comment! We think we distinguish ourselves by offering a complete system. Loopz consist of the shower tray, the water reservoir, the filtration system, the electronics and of course the shower head. All together in one compact design👌
The filtration system has three stages: The deck and its supports serve as the first filter to filter out the biggest particles, next up is the microfilter to collect hair, sand, skin flakes. All the smaller particles up to 38 micron. Last but not least is the UV-C LED to kill most of the bacteria and viruses.
Those filters do not need to be replaced. We designed the Loopz by keeping sustainability in mind and therefore choose to use high quality materials/components to extend its lifespan. About the microfilter, it could be nice to have a spare one. In case you like to clean the other one or something like that. We do advise to rinse this microfilter after each shower to prevent it from getting clogged.
A heating element will definitely be an improvement so this is something we are working on. 🙂
      Cheers, Team Hamwells

Thank you, btw what is the flow rate (Gallons or liters per min)? And what is the power requirement for the UV-C filter? Typically these are not 12 volt due to power consumption. I'm guess your flow rate is fairly low to compensate.

    • @hamwellsbv
      @hamwellsbv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@Deltro61 The UV-C LED is included in the system, so it also runs on 12V. The flow rate is around 3,5 liters per minute, we think that makes it a very comfortable shower 🙂

An exceptionally fine filter capable of trapping particles as small as 38 microns. Last but certainly not least, we integrated UV-C LED technology, which effectively breaks down 99.99% of the molecular bonds in bacteria and viruses.
