How to install this energy-saving shower? - Blue installation
A step by step installation of the Blue - energysaving shower.
The Blue is a sustainable, energy-saving shower system. The system uses WWHR (Wastewater Heat Recovery) pipes which recycle the residual heat contained in the shower wastewater in order to preheat the cold tap water. This way, you will need less hot water to maintain the desired shower temperature. Learn more about how the system works by clicking the button below.

Why you should use the Blue in your building projects
มุมมอง 9584 ปีที่แล้ว
How the Blue works Traditionally, your shower water goes directly into the drain. This water is still warm and a lot of energy is wasted this way. The Blue collects the hot water in the drain and pumps it to the Waste Water Heat Recovery (WWHR) module. The module uses the heat of the wastewater to preheat the cold water. This results in a lower demand for hot water. The WWHR efficiency can reac...

How much ?
Hi! Loopz is available in our shop, starting from €576,99.
You need a better filtration system then it may be worth the high price for it
This system is very good for van life, especially as an extra for a multifilter system. The first quick shower would go to a wastewater reservoir, and then after rinsing, you switch to this system and shower until the water gets cold. You'll already be clean, so the filters won't get clogged. Then you drain the water to a gray water reservoir with extra filters. This will probably reduce water consumption by more than 70%.
Can I ask the height of the tent please? Great product.
Thank you! Unfortunately the Loopz tent isn't available anymore, we do still offer the Loopz though.
Странное изобретение) А если написаешь в поддон или высморкаешься, или потный грязный войдёшь после разгрузки вагона с кирпичами? 🤣 Сомнительое удовольствие🤢
No heat? I just looked up the price on your website. You're asking $600 for a sink pump, a plastic tray, and a $30 shower head. You must think the whole world is stupid! "Just put a 'z' on the end of the name and the Gen-Y's will eat it up". I'll bet your marketing people are behind this nonsense.
This is absolutely garbage. First you made it without a soap filter which makes it worthless. Second you made no walls of any kind for it, so even if you use it your entire van will be drenched with water, and finally you made a hose with nothing to hold it but your hand. What kind of idiot thought this was a good idea?
this is great, but can it heat the water? I don't enjoy cold showers...
Hi! The Loopz itself can't heat the water, though we are developing an add-on to heat the water.
wow, so you're showering in muck soup after 30 seconds, the filters wont remove bacteria or viruses and a uv led is better than nothing but how long is the exposure time? What about body sweat is that filtered out? or other semi solid fluid 'run off'... as I said, muck off the body round the loop and on your head.... Maybe I'm wrong and you can explain how
In a cold winter?
We're busy developing a heating element, so our customers can enjoy a hot shower too!
Does it warm the water?
The Loopz itself doesn't have this feature, but we are developing an add-on so our customers can also enjoy a hot shower. Stay tuned for updates!
1. That screen is supposed to filter soap, oil, poop, bacteria, and dirt? Please explain. 2. No mention of heating the water, is it supposed to?
1. The microfilter isn't the only filter the Loopz uses. First in line is a sediment filter which filters out the larger particles. Following that we have the microfilter. An exceptionally fine filter capable of trapping particles as small as 38 microns. Last but certainly not least, we integrated UV-C LED technology, which effectively breaks down 99.99% of the molecular bonds in bacteria and viruses. 2. The Loopz itself doesn't heat the water, but we are developing an add-on so our customers can enjoy a hot shower too.
So no hot water, and no shampoo/soap/gel. So basically, it's not a shower to get clean, just a water rinse.
not even a water rinse when you think that any sweat/muck/detritus off your body is going round and back on your head and in your hair...
But is the water hot?
This is silly. Use a shower head with an on/off feature. Wet yourself. Turn the showerhead off and wash. Turn the showerhead back on and rinse yourself. That's the best way to save water. You shouldn't even be trying to take long showers. It's not the best for your skin. Change your attitude about showers.
Some people including myself like to stand in the shower finding it therapeutic and relaxing
That’s a lot of money for a cold, “rinse with your own butt water” shower. Even with a micro dingleberry filter. Hard pass.
😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why isn’t your butt clean…? 🤢
Is this still being manufactured
Yes, it is! Loopz models are available in our webshop: hamwells.com/en/shop/
Honesly, you could achieve this with a small shower pump system from amz and a kiddy pool, and if you want hot water add a propane camp shower heater, put it all in big tote or kiddy pool and recirculate. Add an inline filter before it hits the heater. And you would have the same setup only better because it heats...but not as fancy looking, for a fraction of the cost.
Something like this was my thinking. Hurray for DIY! 😄
Yes. But do a quick 3 minute shower first - then dump THAT dirty, soapy water into the grey water tank. Then recirculate clean, hot water for as long as you like. Of course that water should be filtered, as it potentially could be swallowed or inhaled as steam.
I’d love to do a review. Looks cool.
Is there any chance to filter the soap off the the water, maybe with a additional filter in the system. I would like to integrate the loopz in a new build shower in my selfbuild campervan. There is space for cooperation ;-)
What is the weight capacity of this?
Hi! We advise a maximum weight of 100kg.
Qual consumo elétrico em Watts?????
In standby modus the Blue consumes less than 0.5W. When in use, this will be approximately 27W. However, the WWHR pipes recover up to 73%. So, at a total of 13,5kW you will save around 10kW!
Isso precisa vir para o Brasil!!! E simplesmente espetacular!! Genial
Thank you! The Blue is available worldwide, if you're interested please send an email to info@hamwells.com.
Wait so you can shower but not with soap?? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of showering????
You can use soap, but try to limit it to prevent the water from getting too "soapy"😉
Awesome setup, where are you located?
Thanks! We're located in the Netherlands, but we do ship worldwide: hamwells.com/en/shop/
Awesome setup, where are you located?
According to their website, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Would this be good for an apartment without a shower or tub?
It is possible, though we can not advise you to use Loopz in your bathroom. In a lot of countries you have to deal with legislation for your apartment's bathroom, for example the water quality needs to be like drinking water. Please be aware, if you do install Loopz inside your apartment, it is your own responsibility.
Hello! Where this product can be bought actually?
Unfortunately, our HomeSpa is no longer in production. We do have a new circulation system for life off-grid called the Loopz. More info at hamwells.com
Take a wateritight box, fill it with water, drop a submersible pump into it, connect pump to hose and garden sprinkler, join the pump in the water, have a shower.
That's right! Though big advantage of Loopz is the water gets filtered, this means your water is as good as new after each loop :)
Yep you definitely want some kind of filter. I have the endless shower from Australia and the water gets nasty pretty quickly.
@@BWT599 oh really? shoot! just bought this can you double up on filters
The hose looks like its maybe 36 inches long. Must be a shower for very short people..
Thanks for mentioning this! The hose is actually around 200cm / 78 inch :)
Just got mine last week, securely packed and shipped, hassle - free! I already tried it out, everything works exactly as they say. It is going into my campervan. Thanks Hamwells! Greetings from South Africa
Thank you so much! Please send us some pics when your build is done, we would love to see them :) Good luck and enjoy your Loopz!
I would like to put this in my electric camping van.
I am actually doing this, installing a Loopz shower in my van!
@@rockspyder3970 hello. How did you do this? I want to install one as well…
@@Blakmagic88 Hey, yes I did, and it works perfectly. It is absolutely luxurious! I will need to somehow send you pics and video clips.
@@rockspyder3970are you happy with it? Did you build a box or use it as a stand alone?
@@HOPE.TheresNoPlaceLikeHomeClub I built it into the floor of my van, boxed around. I put a removable mat over the shower floor when not in use, then it forms part of the washroom cubicle. I have a swing panel which converts the cubicle from toilet/basin to shower, keeping the toilet dry. The swing panel washroom layout is inspired by the design of the Hymer Vision Venture concept van, see the videos elsewhere on YT. I can use the shower in two modes, either regular water supply from the van’s plumbing, hot and cold, or on recirculate with the Loopz. I start by filling the Loopz reservoir with warm water, then shower for as long as I want to, and then finally rinse off with clean water from the tank. Most vans have too little water available for nice long showers, with this system, it is luxurious!
The filter doesn’t change the fact that the water ran down your dirty ass crack and back over your face.
Clean it before hand rinse yourself before allowing the water to recycle
Does it heat the water
Currently Loopz does not heat the water, though this is definitely something we are working on!
Just think, what happens when you pee ???
For you bring a catheter.
Just don't pee under the shower.. if you do, you'll have a bacteria-free golden shower 😅
Very nice! How much power does this take?
Thank you! Loopz requires only 12V, included is an universal adapter (100-240V to 12V) or a car lighter adapter.
If I open the drain before rinsing soap off will some of the soap still end up in the filters or would it all drain out first? Can the shower still run with the drain plug removed?
Loopz does not work when removing the drain because in that case there is no water to recycle. An option is to buy one of our overflow kits. This way you are able to add fresh water, the excess water flows down the drain. Though there will still remain some soap in the water, but the concentration decreases. Our advice still remains to limit the amount of soap being used.
@@hamwellsbv very cool, thank you!
$1,000 for a shower? no thanks.
Is there a heater in loopz too keep the water warm
Currently not.. you could combine it with a second showerhead connected to a heater, so you can switch between an open or closed cycle. If you like to receive more info please mail us at loopz@hamwells.com 🙂
If water is VERY scarce yes... Otherwise NO
So you shower yourself with the dirty water that just came off of your body? What am I missing here?
You shower with the filtered water that just came off your body 😉 Loopz uses a sediment filter, microfilter and an (optional) UV-C Led.
So these units start at around $780 USD, before shipping? Dayummm! Looks nice from here.
Yeah I'll use a different method!
You were the 1st comment I saw when I clicked the link....and the last lol!
@@JoyinFlorida 😁
@@TheCriticalChris 😉
@Rachel Ross, you never have to replace the filters though. With the other systems I've seen, you have to change the filters fairly often. As you may have guessed it adds up quickly. Best of luck
Who do we get it in United States
Please visit our webshop www.hamwells.com/en/shop/ , we ship worldwide :)
Nice , very good concept as it saves water n its good for environment too but i got a doubt that the filtration module area is good enough for a person to standon but obviously while bathing there is possibility of water getting sprinkle over sides other than that area so that water wont b recirculated n will get waste company can resign n think to utilize sprinkled water on sides too
The tray has a slight slope towards the water reservoir to save as much water as possible 💙. If you don't want to lose water at all, we recommend to combine it with a shower tent or install Loopz in your camper van/tiny house and create a shower cabin.
Where can I purchase this?
Please visit hamwells.com/en/shop , we ship worldwide! 🙂🌍
I've looked at a number of recirculating shower units for campers, and they seem pretty convoluted to assemble. Not to mention you've got to change out the filters once a month. I can easily see spending 500+ dollars on the parts. I believe this unit from Loops is around the thousand dollars US shipped, and also includes the shower base which is typically another $150.00. The question I have is how often do the filters need to be changed? The systems I've seen typically have a 20 µm filter followed by a 5 µm sediment filter and then finally a 5 µm carbon filter, and then there is the final UV filter. And most of the systems usually have a prefilter as well that need to get changed. If the filters can be rinsed as opposed to changed, I can quickly see where the savings would be substantial. I'm not seeing anything on the website that talks about replacement filters other than the big stainless steel one, which I gather is more of a prefilter. And if a heating pad could be developed that would be awesome, I would imagine the energy demands would be pretty high though to heat water. Pumping the water through a heat exchanger might be a cheaper option, but would be interesting to see what the company develops here. I just like to know about the filters. Could Hamwells respond please.
Hi Troy, Thanks for your comment! We think we distinguish ourselves by offering a complete system. Loopz consist of the shower tray, the water reservoir, the filtration system, the electronics and of course the shower head. All together in one compact design👌 The filtration system has three stages: The deck and its supports serve as the first filter to filter out the biggest particles, next up is the microfilter to collect hair, sand, skin flakes. All the smaller particles up to 38 micron. Last but not least is the UV-C LED to kill most of the bacteria and viruses. Those filters do not need to be replaced. We designed the Loopz by keeping sustainability in mind and therefore choose to use high quality materials/components to extend its lifespan. About the microfilter, it could be nice to have a spare one. In case you like to clean the other one or something like that. We do advise to rinse this microfilter after each shower to prevent it from getting clogged. A heating element will definitely be an improvement so this is something we are working on. 🙂 Cheers, Team Hamwells
Thank you, btw what is the flow rate (Gallons or liters per min)? And what is the power requirement for the UV-C filter? Typically these are not 12 volt due to power consumption. I'm guess your flow rate is fairly low to compensate.
@@Deltro61 The UV-C LED is included in the system, so it also runs on 12V. The flow rate is around 3,5 liters per minute, we think that makes it a very comfortable shower 🙂
Thank you. That is .92 gallons per minute, which for a shower is pretty low. May I ask the total amperage required to run your entire set up?
@@Deltro61 According to their website the max power draw is 24W so 2 amps at 12V.
TOO EXPENSIVE. I CAN MAKE MY OWN FOR 60 BUCKS.
If so, please let us know where you find such a cheap UVC-LED 😉
