Well done. I like your format. Good angles with the camera and explanations. My project is a 1970 Corvette, which has been taken apart, so this is helpful for me to see how it is suppose to go back together
I think that distributor shield maybe to shield against noise coming thru the radio (electromagnetic noise maybe)? Mine came without it lol. But I’m still chasing down some electric issues so no radio yet so can’t check if I need it yet. Also heard of “cheap insurance” emergency cable release kit you can install I n case the main cable snaps.
Thank you so much for hanging out with the old man. I think you are right about the static noise. I don't have an antenna, so all I get is static through the radio. :(
Thanks for the video. I have a 79 Vette and just ordered another cable. Mine worked, but the wires were starting to fray so I didn't want to take the chance of one day not being able to open the hood. I do have the distributor cover that has two clips mounted along the top where the release cable runs through. It also has a wing nut on the right (PS) that a ground wire runs to from the intake manifold. My guess is that it prevents any radio static that may occur from the distributor.
Thanks for the comment. That would make sense to prevent radio static. On fiberglass, the antenna is mounted on the rear of car to help prevent radio static so I can see the same for the distributer.
I had the same problem happen on my '79. I used pliers to pull the cable though. LOL! Mine did have that cover and now I see how that cable is supposed to secure to it.
Pretty sure the distributor cover was part of the routing of the spark plug wires. The wires ran from the plugs, through a metal sleeve below the exhaust manifold, to back of engine, and up the cover to distributor. Having said that, since you have an ACCELL coil and not OEM design, not sure the cover will fit.
Thank you for watching the video. Do not cut the wire. Watch the video all the way to see how to wire it through. Thank you for your comment and thank you for hanging out with the old man.

Thank you for your comments Vette Greaser and thanks for hanging out with the old man. Good luck with your 70 vette. I'm glad the videos are helping.

@@geekindastreets1030 Cool. I'm hoping for January to have everything road ready on mine.
My cable seems a bit long, what would you suggest to make it shorter or can you show me how to snake it through so it’s just the right length ?
