    "what's reality? don't know. when my bird was looking at my computer monitor, i thought, "that bird has no idea what he's looking at." and yet, what does the bird do? does he panic? no, he can't really panic; he just does the best he can. is he able to live in a world where he's so ignorant? well, he doesn't really have a choice. the bird is ok, even though he doesn't understand the world. you're that bird looking at the monitor, and you're thinking to yourself, "i can figure this out." maybe you have some bird ideas. maybe that's the best you can do." - terry a davis

      Have you heard the saying "God works in mysterious ways" I hear Christians say it, I'm not a Christian I'm a Hindu. But if you think about it who is not stuck, everyone is stuck in something. At least he understands it, he is a genius programmer and he made us temple OS. At least he knows himself even though he was crazy. How is he worst than these people walking around with zero ability to reflect on themselves and living just as a reaction to what's happening around them
      I mean does anyone want to live in a world without Terry Davis as he is, however he is!

      Hey how are you doing these days? I have schizoaffective disorder and I just want you to know I had those same fears you did all my life until I realized it had been happening all along with my reality being nothing I knew. That's when I knew I wasn't some stranger. Those tendencies in you, whatever they are and wherever they hide from you, will grow into a monster that stares at you from behind. You know who you are and you know you're not a stranger, and that feeling that you are one is the beast that whispers to you while you're not listening. It's scary, but it's not all bad. It's mostly the Sehnsucht, wistful longing, you get looking in at the world through the looking glass of apparitions that mist the Apennines. This life is larger than others and you float through the air, levitating while others only see you convulsing and foaming at the mouth. If you know you are one who walks in the clouds, feel the dew drops misting your face and face the absurdity of it. It doesn't get real, just like he said. The more you try to make it real the more it eats you, the more it was always never happening. Take care of yourself, even if it gets worse and seems hopeless. Look into autism and schizotypal personality disorder and discern whether you are in the prodromal phase of schizophrenia or whether you have a cluster A personality disorder or if you're autistic or something. But if you know you're a hair trigger away from this life, do something. Make as much progress as you can before it progresses beyond you. I'm a savant pianist and excellent writer and I know I add value to the world despite being schizophrenic, you can too. You look at Terry and think "I don't want this to happen to me" but you surely don't think he was worthless or even worth less than all the people who mocked and bullied him into this death. Don't let yourself think you're worth less for being different either. If you find yourself in this life Terry and I share, find yourself instead of trying to escape.
      "Think you're escaping and run into yourself. Longest way round is the shortest way home." - James Joyce

    Very interesting conceptualization of schizophrenia, he is intelligent enough to put it into words: "it's the inability to come to terms with the unverifiable nature of reality", where the emerging fear of said uncertainty overwhelms the individual causing them to distort the shared reality by the neurotypical. I had also thought a lot about this topic: so what if one is a bubble and whoever blows the bubbles doesn't like one of them and pops said bubble? The schizophrenic can't stand to dwell on this concept where the neurotypical will realize that even if this absurdity is THE case, there's nothing they can do about it, and if there's nothing that can be done about it, then it makes no sense to worry about it. So there's no reason for fear, therefore the mind doesn't have to create a new individual reality where they can feel safe. (then of course the created reality cannot be kept under control so it instills even greater terror than the original thoughts that kicked off the process in the first place.)

    • @SiebteFassung
      @SiebteFassung ปีที่แล้ว

      The cause of schizophrenia is more than this said fear. I don't have schizophrenia, but there was a time in my past I was very negative, under a lot os tress, and became a nihilist. After asking too many whys, I became a kind of solipsist, and that fucked me up. I got out of that wiser, of course, and what made me abandon it is that fear you talk about, but my mind didn't create a new reality (although I had some weird experiences). Everything that you experience is created by your brain, but normally, your brain restricts its creation to a representation of external reality, unless you're dreaming. When the brain starts creating its own reality and mixing it with a dream reality, things can get really messed up

    As I understand it, a big part of what we would traditionally consider intelligence (IQ) to be is pattern recognition. Terry had this to a high level obviously, but I think maybe just lacked the focus to separate the wheat from the chaff. When you have the intelligence to recognize or project even the subtlest patterns (to perceive "code" in the radio), if you don't have a strong focus, it's understandable how you could get very very lost. Very tragic when I consider the Logos to be the pattern of patterns to orient around. RIP Terry.

    One of my immediate family members suffers from extreme schizophrenia. She changed from being a vegan, lean teenager who had no religion, to a god-fearing overweight Catholic meat eater. Schizophrenia sufferers latch onto religion I assume to explain and make sense of their view of reality, to change their negative sights, feelings, and sounds, into something explainable and positive. The worst part, for example Terry and my family member in question, is that they know they aren't healthy, but they refuse to change or get help. She's still around, but is she? As dark as it is to say, the person I once knew is dead forever, and from the sufferer's perspective, they're constantly battling day to day... maybe it's better if they find eternal rest?
    And the worst part of it all is that the world refuses to recognize schizophrenia and mental health in general as a problem. We're so busy fighting each other, fabricating lies, exaggerating minuscule problems, and hoarding money, that mental health takes a backseat, either intentionally or unintentionally.

      @@trashyraccoon2615 These sorts of behavioral manifestations often tend to be an aspect of ones own self delusions, they dont neatly fit into the mind's preconstructed narrative (which is never *fully* accurate) and to consider them causes cognitive dissonance (which is not fun) so the ideas arent fully contemplated. Essentially every single human on earth has some some form of internalized dissonance that often causes fundamentally irrational and often self destructive behavior, racist/prejudiced behavior being a very commonplace example. I think terry is a good guy who was never fully able to find his way out of the delusion (and I dont just mean in the schiziophrenic sense) nobody holds "rationally acquired" prejudiced beliefs because the very act of prejudice comes about from some form of self delusion. Mainly I just feel sorry for the guy, but I do think that fundamentally he was a good man.

He obviously was into that, and obsessed with this notion of “purity” which is a super bigoted thing that Christianity talks a lot about. That stuff is the worst and brings out the worst in people, mentally ill or not.

      @@trashyraccoon2615 Too much lovecraft has permanantly altered my writing style lmao. Long response on its way.
      Whilst I cant deny that religion has played a major role in various acts of cruelty and foolishness throughout history, blaming this entirely upon religion is a bit of a misnomer. The thing about these sorts of behaviors is they are fundamentally engrained into human psyche, whether or not religion is present. Look at the nazis, the rawandan genocide, the cambodian killing fields, or the holodomor. These circumstances come about without the involvment of religion, these cirumstances are simply the product of humans being humans, and humans are intrinsically capable of great cruelty and hatred, an aspect of ourselves fueled by internal conflict and self delusion. Religion is a commonplace example eople use because like any system that offers an agenda that has been assigned by a "higher authority", it is easily misinterpreted and abused. In the case of the nazi regime for example, the "higher authority" is '*the great furher*', hitler himself, and undoubtably a similar phenomenon is present in most similar instances. The difficulty with religion too is that there are a lot of subtle contextual aspects to it that have been lost to history, many of which being a product of the writer's whims as opposed to being necessary for said religious framework to function. Take for example the negative outlook many religions hold towards homosexuality, why was that included? was it because one recieved a vision from "God"? was it because the writer had a personal opposition to it? or, perhaps, was it because, knowing the timeplace, even if the writer had not been opposed to the orientation, that had such statements not be included, that the religious framwork would be condemed by a king or some other force and the ideas posed by the framework lost? The way I see it, religion is a framework to be used to understand the world, it is an approximation of wisdom, but not every individual is the same and sometimes, one must use more than one framework to adequately explain the world (most are in-fact, compatible, the notion that hindu beliefs for example oppose christian ones are not really accurate). So when large groups of people begin to follow one doctrine zealously, there is no wisdom gained by these groups, they are merely following guidelines that have been preordained, guidelines that they, for the most part do not remotely understand the context of.

He's genuinely happy, he's eager to tell you about his "aliens", and "clouds", and radio talking to him in "code", even the tiniest details. And you just look at him with sorrow, pretending to believe, asking idle questions, smiling like to a child who's telling you about vanquishing a big bad dragon in that old toolshed, and saving an imaginary princess.

    I used to have this same issue until people at a company could simply not understand the work I did. Then it was like I was in a regular reality, but shoved into a liminal space. My theory is that there are secret societies watching, but they think they are smarter than they actually are. However, to see the light, they have to leave their society and accept the raw truth from nature which is that their group will reject them at the same time they learn the real truth. I came to realize, by observing the same thing happen amongst people of supposed different types of belief systems, religious vs. technical that there is a cognitive bias which already conquered both. If you want to present truth to the world, you have to be like Ramanujan or God's face on Sinai and accept the position of a magician because people will hate the real truth as ugly, misunderstand it and crucify it. The Joker makes more sense to me than batman at this period in my life. Erie.

    It is perfectly understandable that he was truly too intelligent.
    No jokes, straight facts: he talks about the radio speaking in a code. His brain may be so advanced at interpreting patterns in reality that he starts seeing patterns where there are none. Additionaly because of Terry's immense knowledge he could constantly recognize all and every innuendo and word as a reference to something and this is what caused him to belive that the radio is "speaking to him".
    It could obvously all be due to overly high self esteem, but it seems that Terry was too humble to begin with, constantly trying to copy his speaker with his manners.
    How do I know? Ehh, thats quite obvious isn't it?

      Hehe Radio does speak in codes. Commercial breaks, news programs, same tracks rotating over and over. To an alien it must be some cult propaganda device, but for us it's normalized. Basically in medieval times Radio would be considered a demon in a box, shajtan. Yet again, medieval people would not tolatrate goverment tax of 6% (10% for church was ok for them), yet people in EU tolerate 50% gov tax and 0% church tax. Haha Radio has done its job!!!

    • @jacksonbloftis
      @jacksonbloftis ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that it comes as a cost of higher intelligence, but to call a pattern nonsensical requires an external reference point. That's the only escape from absurdism as I see it. Being as Terry had that external referent (the Logos, God), I can only characterize him as having a lack of focus on the higher order pattern of reality in his faith, if we assume his belief to be consistent. I think of schizophrenia as an advanced form of ADHD, and I think Terry is maybe a perfect case study for this. Though, I think all so-called mental health definitions are innately flawed as to state what is average for the typical person is not to state what is good for an individual (Is =/= Ought), so I would simply say he has an extreme lack of focus and direction. This naturally does not take outside manipulation of one's intelligence into account.

    • @secretname2670

      @@jacksonbloftis yeah, you've got to be pretty distracted to not recognize a proper course of action even occasionaly. It is statistically harder to be so consistently distracted than to occasionaly behave in a more concise manner, so I reckon Terry could've been as you said. I wish I was born a little earlier, so maybe I could try to help him in some way, hell be damned I would try.
      On a lighter note, Terry was the one who forged the word Glowie, commonly used to refer to federal or now any sort of undercover agents who are so inept at culture they are infiltrating that they are literally "glowing" in the dark.

    Western philosophical dogma has been reduced to Materialism vs Idealism for the past thousand years or so. Either everything comes down to atoms and chemical reactions, or everything is an interpretation of the mind.
    Then along come Terry - Materials and Idealism now seem so naive when the obvious truth is neither materialism or idealism; it's Symbolism. The universe consists of solid things representing ethereal things, and ethereal things representing the physical world. Everything is, essentially, code. Terry wasn't making the third temple, he was inside it
