Excellent discussion. Heidegger helps us to understand two facets of this analysis: 1. he identified our age as dominated by the Enlightenment's technological understanding of being in which 'everything is seen as a resource that has to be 'efficiently and flexibly used up'. 2. Heidegger sees this understanding of being as inevitably leading to nihilism, the end-point of which would be eliminating all 'meaningful differences'.
Thank you for pointing that out! I have always found the American habit of keeping animals and their droppings in the house weird and gross. Animals belong outside!
i keep dogs and cats. dogs can be trained and do well. cats don’t need training and do better than dogs! (both are carnivores so if you don’t feed them anything but meat they do very well)
I just knew you guys were reincarnist in disguise. Now I can prove it. Glenn just admitted to having a "previous life". 🤣🤣. Good to see and hear y'all. Blessings.
First time to the channel and I'm puzzled by Tom's decision to drink beer at the beginning of the episode. Maybe it wasn't beer, but as a beer-drinker around beer-drinkers, it looked like it to me, so even if it wasn't, the effect was the same. I get our freedom in Christ and understand Colossians 2, but I also understand Romans 14, that we're not to put an obstacle or stumbling block in a brother's way. Just saying it was an unnecessary distraction.
I know. I can't believe that Jesus guy turned water into wine when he could've made 1st Century Welch grape juice. What a stumbling block and unnecessary distraction!
Great episode!
Really enjoyed this discussion!
Great that you guys are back together!
This conversation was awesome!

Unherd have been a big help to me since 2020.
i appreciate the mention of historicism; which may be an apt description of the ‘church’ (which is obviously not the ekklesia).
Love the reference To reincarnation in the beginning. That’s all I needed to hear.
the critique in the essay echoes Plato's critique of democracy.

They literally: " worship the creature over the Creator."
