The good old days! Back when every team had a star or emerging one and was competitive. Great to see penny and grant in their prime. It was a damn tragedy what happened to them getting injured with their best years in front of them. Still future hall of famers though.

Early 2000s NBA was when I was a little kid. Back then it was more about competition than becoming each others friend & joining each other on a team. It was more physical than todays game. Back then it wasn't all about athleticism

my fave era of the nba- 95-98. bulls last run, amazing vets of the 80s closing out, and new amazing stars coming in and emerging. was a great time to be a fan of the nba- it was wild then- it seemed Everyone was playing ball then, every ad was a ball ad, movies had basketball stars. was great. best of all- every team- every city seemed to have two stars- or at least two young stars comng up. there were no dead teams like there are now. even teams with no wins had a couple young studs to look to

A transcendent generation no doubt. I give you 2 names: Grant Hill & Penny Hardaway.
I truly believe these 2 special phenoms would have accomplished even more than LeBron & Kobe by the end of their careers..what could have been.
Unfortunately career long term injuries derailed their full potential.
One of the saddest sporting traverstys was the rise and fall of Hill & Hardaway😢

1995 NBA Draft: Only player from that draft to become a HOFer as a player will be Kevin Garnett. Fifth overall selection. The Timberwolves drafted him. So for the only time, Minnesota actually outwitted and "out-lucked" all of the other teams in the NBA.

    • @SmoothCriminal12

Also remember at the time people thought the Bucks got ripped off with the Stephon Marbury/ Ray Allen draft trade. I remember Slam magazine trashing the Bucks for it. While short term the trade looked good for the T'Wolves. In the long term Allen has become the better player.

Shaq era. I’ve never seen a player dominate Duncan/Robinson at the same time... reason being?? Nobody else could!! Shaq took a 17 win basically expansive Orlando team by himself as a rookie and made them a 40+ win team. The fact is, when he was at the top of the game wherever he went they went to the NBA Finals (Orlando/L.A/Miami). And he never needed multiple All Star players on a team to go to the NBA Finals (Penny/Kobe/Wade). He didn’t need Gasol/Bynum or Bosh/Wade or Magic/Worthy... I think you get the point. The dude was just scary. 1. Jordan 2. Shaq 3. The Dream best 3 players that I ever watched.

Agreed. The Trailblazers had Rasheed Wallace, Brian Grant, Scottie Pippen, Bonzi Wells, Sabonis, Stephen Smith, and Jim Jackson and simply there was nothing left for Damon except dribble the ball up and pass off. Like Kenny Anderson he got to play for a contender, but never amounted to the star he was predicted. I heard rumblings that he was not happy that Isiah Thomas was leaving as Raptors G.M. But he mainly just left because he wanted to win, but sacrificed he's full potential in process.

  • @dcc1980

Kobe should of been a New Jersey Net. John Calapari was the only one apart from Jerry West who could see the talent. 76ers wanted Bryant as well, but were committed to Iverson as their first pick. But Bryant's agent threaten Calapari that if he was drafted by the Nets, Bryant would go to Europe. Something that Bryant admitted would never of happened. Nets GM John Nash urged Calapari not blink. But he blinked and instead chose Kerry Kittles with his 8th pick.
