Came back to comment on this. Been coaching rec league few years following my son. Now coaching a more established 7th/8th grade AAU team. This is one of the best drill series we’ve done and the kids actually love it. We full press ALOT like every possession so we really like to get after it and run. Thank you so much coach excellent job.

I ended up getting the 8th grade girls position due to lack of experience which was understandable. Season has not gone great that's for sure

Fastbreak is a problem for our team. Maybe they are too young (10-11y olds), but I find it hard to get them to sprint ahead. They too often stall in offence. I was wondering, the 'roles' (rim-runner, trailer, ...), is that something that is predetermined and always the same players, or are these players capable of deciding their roles on the spot?

Fourth gear is an acceleration gear though. Fifth is for cruising. Point taken though.

Also, there's no way I'm letting the other group just stand there. They're doing ball handling or even just jogging around the court. I love the 5 v 4 with variables. I like the amount that you incorporate it here. Your coach speak is excellent.

Personally believe you should do half finishes (w/ coach contact in the paint) and half new fast breaks down the court. A lot of this is not game-like, in my opinion. Also call in secondary breaks with a high screen from your big man.

For me this is fast-break not transition
