Im literally going insane, there is NO ONE for me to share this happiness and addiction I feel for this album. Soooo happy you loved it! This is defenetly my AOTY!❤️❤️❤️
Poppy has for me the best album of 2024 by far and there isn't a bad song anywhere on it. Negative Spaces deserves recognition and mainstream radio play as it is to good to hide. Poppy's 6th album is a total bop! Poppy rocks!!! Tatiana Shmayluk of Jinjer does amazing vocals as does Floor Jansen of Nightwish so Poppy is in good company as a wonderful vocalist. Poppy for the second time has been nominated for a best metal performance Grammy with Knocked Loose,I hope they win! A good reaction to the incomparable Poppy .
Great reaction! Shoegaze Poppy is never far away- but it was pretty much anarchic genius to end an album that brought us "the centre's falling out" and all that other mayhem on a piece of sweet but doleful shoegaze like Halo. It is a real slow burner too, and the mix is really complicated (see what is hiding in the mix if you can work out how to play it backwards!!). I think people are sleeping on that song, but it doesn't matter as this is the kind of album that will take folks a fair while to process fully and that's why Poppy's albums are such growers. Songs like Halo are often the icing on the cake that people overlook at first and then fall in love with last.....
agree with all of this! i think halo was the perfect end to this album for the reasons you mentioned, and i do think people who didn’t love it upon first listen will come around to it, it’s just too good to sleep on forever. i think the same will be true for the other less heavy tracks like vital and surviving on defiance because those are also absolute bangers. i just keep finding more to love about this album every time i listen to it
@@rowanfox There is a hell of a lot to deep dive into! At the moment, I am having a closer look at "have you had enough?"- the way it builds, and builds and keeps surpassing its own heaviness is awesome (fairly meta given the title of the song!)- the rhythmically uneven intro- the polyrhythms. Poppy has a habit of putting odd things in the mix that you might miss. In the middle of the really heavy breakdown of "had enough", there is a weird high trill thing with reverb- happens twice forward at 2.46 and again more clearly at 2.54. It also happens backwards at 2.27ish, but you can only spot it if you reverse the track. Everyone's ears will be focused on the breakdown mayhem in the lower frequencies. Actually, listening again, it sounds a bit like the birdsong at the end of Knocked Loose's Suffocate, but heavily processed and at a lower pitch. A few more- we have a song called "the centre's fallen out". What is at the centre of this album? "Nothing". Exactly halfway through "Nothing" (i.e. the exact centre of the album) is a weird and completely unnecessary electronic disruption that makes no particular sense.
Poppy’s screams have gotten killer! Female screamers are actually taking over heavy music, you need to check out Otep, Dying Wish, Novelists, Lake Malice, Terminal Sleep, Volatile Ways, .bHP, Not Enough Space, & Reba from Code Orange kills it on every track she’s on too
Great album, it has a little bit of everything that I personally grew up on and it’s very refreshing to hear so many styles and genres that she flows through on this record
Girl idk about you, but i get a real kick out of a stellar title track, a last track on an album, or a title track that is also the last track on an album. Halo is truly an amazing way to close the album and no other song couldve done it 😭✨️
Great reaction!! You’ve gained a new subscriber ❤😊 it always cracks me up that within one car ride I can have a shuffle and hear Poppy sing “girls in bikinis”, to “her”, “spit” and then “suffocate” with knocked loose. She is versatile, unabashedly herself, and a true entertainer (which is so rare these days)
I discovered this little girl the same say her album was out and went straight up to my AOTY podium 2024 along with the new Blood Incantation and Thy Catafalque. ❤
As a counterpoint to you saying you love Poppy's voice... actually, your voice is very satisfying to listen to hahah It was a joy to watch this! I'm with you on "halo" being a fantastic song, and what I like the most about Poppy is how she just... does whatever the hell she wants. 80s synthwave song in the middle of a metal album? Why not? p.s. if you want some raw screams from Poppy, check out the Deezer Sessions performance of "Hard" from her last album

Poppy has always been so so talented. Like her creativity??? Unmatched. I love her so much I can’t even explain it AJAKJWNEE
Awesome album, loved watching!
'Halo' is absolutely beautiful, no argument here. So yeah, there's at least 2 'Halo' fans! 😅
What a fantastic album.
I'm so excited for this review!!!
41:19 you can watch her read the Bible on her TH-cam page lol
Great album, it has a little bit of everything that I personally grew up on and it’s very refreshing to hear so many styles and genres that she flows through on this record
The album is on repeat since it dropped 🦾🥰 she is amazing!
Hell yeah. I burned myself out on spiritbox. This is filling the void left.
Poppy is just really good at making you feel her lyrics through the way the music sounds, if that makes sense
I wouldn’t call myself a metal head, but I find Poppy’s screams the best. They are so satisfying, and I don’t know why!
I saw Poppy 5 times (so far) Can I just make your day and say...SHE'S EVEN BETTER LIVE 🥲

Check out butcher babies, jinjer, arch enemy, infected rain, otep for more good female screamers besides spiritbox.

I had the same grip on my heart when listening to halo 💙
Yesterday and crystallized are meant to be treated as one song they flow into each other. Love this album so much possibly AOTY
45:07 this song also became my favorite idk what it did to me
