So much to learn , so great to do it all . with help from family. it is yer boat , so much blood sweat tears leathermans , it will be perfect for you. Grand Job
19:25 God that's gorgeous cinematography. I'm re-wrapping lithium batteries while I watch and only look up every so often so who even knows what I'm missing.. I'll be back though as I start my wood sailboat restoration :-)
I really enjoyed this vid, you are really paying attention to detail! That feeling of accomplishment must keep you smiling especially when you are away from it for any length of time! I know your family must be proud too!
Nice project, it will teach you alot and im sure you know the work will never end on a boat with that much wood. But she will be around quite a while now. Save your $ because those fords will be thirsty. Check water pumps and strainers often. Good job and good luck.
Me and a buddy of mine bought a 1935 German wooden sailboat with a Saab engine back in the day,..now that I look back on those times it was pretty special ,...we really got in the zone working together restoring her,...good times.
wow! they're a beautiful boat best of luck with it. Yeah the aluminium primer does a nice job of sealing the wood from the elements, moisture etc. I even use it on the underside or a face of timber that is not seen, just to guarantee if water finds a way behind it, it'll protect that bit more.
Enjoying this series immensely! But, have I somehow missed where you explained what the make of boat you’re working on? It’s 40 foot and that’s about all I know of it. Just curious.
I'll include more details in future episodes. It's a Seaplane tender built in 1940 by Brooke Marine and used by the Royal Air Force. The boat was designed for air-sea rescue as other boats from the time were too heavy and slow. Given the way the hull was designed using diagonal mahogany allowed for the boat to slice through the rough open sea. T. E. Lawrence played a big part in the design and development of these boats. from 1931 till 1935 he worked with a small team to develop and perfect new types of RAF boats. Thanks a million for watching! Glad you're enjoying the episodes. I'll be back on track creating new episodes as soon as the weather improves. Hopefully end of April start of May.
Looking forward to more vids ,,, Great job on the vids and the boat .,,, Have you drained the fuel tank and cleaned it out ? and cleaned out the carbs on the engines , oil and ALL filters swap out , and sand the points before the fire up to test ?
You are working hard and it is even harder to work while the boat is on the water. Why dont you take the boat out of the water? to finish your work in dry land.
You're right, it certainly would be easier to work on her out of the water. The boat has been sitting in the water for over 20 years so I assume the wood would start contracting and possibly cause issues. Later on down the road in the future the plan would be to take her out and get her anti-fouled and protected. Obviously I can only go as far as the water level. I could get her rotated a little with weights on the sides to reach bellow the water line. I'll worry about that when I get there :) Thanks for watching! I should be back on track once the weather gets better around end of April start of May.
Your lighting is truly excellent, super nice filters and effects. Your film making isn't - but it could be. Here is why: You seem to just shove all of your footage in a time lapse and a lot of great shots are wasted that way. Also there is no explanation on what you're doing, why, what you've learned and so on. If you would give yourself some time, give people's eyes some rest and show those beautiful shots you will get better results. Now I will just keep skipping and lose interest in this huge project you're taking on. The obnoxious music is making me watch your videos muted. Hey, these are your videos and you can do whatever you want with them but I thought you might appreciate some honest and personal feedback. Great stuff mate!
Sorry but I didn't like this video, speeding up the film is of no interest to me, I prefer to see how things are being done whether they are the boring majority of the work or not but all power to your elbow young man and good luck with your endeavours.

Would love to know her wartime history, nice to see you have preserved her for the future.

Well done! Impressive work....nice to see a young man work so hard on something he obviously loves doing. Great work...congratulations so far!
Thanks George! I'm certainly learning a lot as I go along also. More episodes in the future.

Hey I'm really enjoying your videos. The aluminum primer has a good look. Is it any thicker than other paints?
Did you epoxy the edges of the deck planking?

Was that originally an out drive boat? Being 1940 I wouldn't think so. Maybe i'm wrong....
Upon what body of water is this boat floating?
waiting on new episodes
Dude, I’m gonna need an update...

Latest update is online guys
Twin V8s wow thats gunna suck for economy lol.
Twin Volvo Penta v6s
U are incredibale
Use your drill as a power screw driver , bit quicker
What's the candle wax trick?
Does the trick getting the screw through some hard wood. Works if you're stuck without a drill
Why do not you give priority to that hole in the side? What is your plan?
The hole is the next thing on the list. Getting back into the swing of things shortly. Update coming soon!
thank, I enjoy and admire your work.
Great videos but , the songs on are a little sad.

It may be a problem with the wood if you get it out of the water, but you will have to do it anyway. Good luck and thank you for keeping us updated.
Joseph couldn't have done better carpentry.

What the hell is it with the crappy music over everything makes these videos un watchable would be good otherwise.

Waste of time.
