I agree 💯% what you have said im gunna move over to MTH and Atlas Hell with Lionel and their prices also look at RMT they make pretty darn looking train car for only 35.00$ if they can do that so can Lionel if they wanted to
I actually have a pair of RMT 36’ woodside reefers. I think they are an excellent item of the price. I personally don’t like the roller bearing type trucks on them but that’s solely a nitpick of mine. I think they are great cars. I want to check out one of their scale boxcars at some point
@TJsModelTrains yeah I personally dont own any RMT actually didn't hear of them till recently but will be buying some in the near future wonder if they make any passenger car sets? Do you know? But yeah with RMT I won't be buying Lionel cars again unless I'm at a train show at those places used cars for 20 to 35$ yeah and only than thanx 4 responding my comment
@@daivdwalker2374I know they just got into the “Scale” rolling stock. Far as I know they have Ore cars, Boxcars, tank cars and reefers in their scale level at this point.
Nice take! I'll stick with my post-war through LTI Lionel. Lionel just isn't the company that it once was. Kind of shoddy, at times. All of the new stuff is pretty cool, but it comes at a price and I doubt that the durability is there. I have no Command Control engines, at this time, so the new stuff really doesn't interest me, from a purchasing standpoint. Considering what I run and the fact that it is all conventional, I'm always looking at the secondary market. I'll buy newer rolling stock, because of the trucks, but I just like traditional locomotives. Either way, I take Lionel for what it is worth, now-a-days. Too bad. An excellent video, as always.
Funny enough I bet the MPC era stuff even has “low quality” as people have called them in the past will still be working long past the modern stuff. Sometimes I do think all this is way to complicated but I grew up with it, it’s what I know and I love making the models look more like prototype! Do appreciate ya watching and enjoying the video!
@ Yup, MPC made some good trains. Their reputation is undeserved. I have a number of MPC locomotives and cars that are just fine. When you look at what the inherited, they basically saved Lionel.
Am I the only one that’s happy with the 2025 catalog? Yeah I’ll admit they could’ve probably done more for their 125th anniversary. But as a Star Wars fan I’m excited to get my hands on that storm trooper gondola car. I’m also excited to see the Heisler being brought back. I always wanted that engine since I was a kid and now I have the opportunity to get a brand new one with whistle steam.
It for most people was a let down, considering how hyped up they made it going into the catalog. I’m sure their are people who are excited for certain thing. For most of us we just see a lot of the same things for a price than it was 2 years ago, with no new features or anything to justify the % increase they chose. The Heisler is cool to see but it’s sad how they made such a small little 15” engine that expensive, it’s more than the set cost when it was released last. You now also have no cars to buy with it. Lord knows what a log car would even cost now. The price increases and the decrease in quality is the main issue.
@@TJsModelTrainsOkay those are fair points. Well maybe part 2 of the catalog will be better. They always release 2 catalogs a year right? Do we know when part 2 drops?
@@JSRFModCentralthey usually have a Vol 2 around fall York. I sure hope for the guys who like Lionel they do a better job for volume 2. Atleast give them something new and unique!
Who can afford this? Not many. Too bad Lionel still isn’t in Hillside/Irvington like Atlas is. Atlas could say, we are now the big boys on the block! Lionel prices are exorbitant.
Yeah, what’s sad is how many people just defend the pricing. The other two manufacturers can make a profit with a lower MSRP so I don’t see why Lionel can’t.
I definitely think they leave a lot of things left out. As of late especially for diesel locomotives it’s a wash rinse repeat cycle of the same 4 models. I do understand there are more paint schemes and such but how many ES44s need to be made haha
Just stumbled on to your channel You are very polite Lionel does not care about you or I I want NS heritage unit 8099 I wonder what shade of green it will be Lionel rolling stock is terrible Atlas all the way
Thank you I appreciate you watching and being here! I try to keep things as honest and authentic as possible with my channel. I do have a MTH southern 8099 and glad to have it in the collection.
@TJsModelTrains Yeah that's just my idea like what if I made a Lionel train simulator that you can built your own railroad layout, railroad tracks and selected any locomotives and cars from the classic to 2025. Right now my channel has not grown yet and yet I'm still in school but almost to my graduation.
Lionel's full scale engines and rolling stock are overpriced. I have a small layout (4x8) . Lionel doesn't make good-value steam locomotives for 0-31. I have an MTH Railking Imperial Santa Fe 4-8-4. The Lionchief seems to be to cheaply made and has less value for the money than MTH Railking. I am buying used Lionel TMCC diesel locomotives and standard O rolling stock. Atlas steam era classics are very good. For traditional sized transformer controlled engines and rolling I will stick with the used Lionel Postwar.
They have a big gap in their lineup of trains. They have cheap plastic battery operated trains then they have the $500 plus o gauge sets but they are very low end and not reliable and then you get into the legacy which is very expensive. I remember getting a Railking starter set and it had the same capabilities and features as the Premier stuff. It was definitely a much better way to get people in the hobby and allow them to expand and grow!

Yes, they saved Lionel.
The old stuff take it and run the heck out of it and it still continues to run. Great stuff,no gimmicks built to last. Simple maintenance.
"We are gonna have an 'awesome' price increase!"🤣
About the only consistent things from Lionel these days. Price increases each catalog 🤣
