Happy New Year Kenny! I really enjoy your Cumberland River posts as I don't get to go near as much as I'd like. Speaking of the fish having other plans, my son and I went sauger fishing on the Kentucky River near Versailles yesterday. Beautiful river conditions, great water color, 41.5 degree water temp, perfect water flow below the dam......and zero sauger, Only one nice smallmouth for the day. Still had a great time.
Yea.. We spoke with several people and all said “no luck” on that day, but hey that’s fishing! Hopefully next time will be better!! Thanks for watching!!
@@sherrykelley2038 To answer your question…No It might hold you in the eddys or just outside of main current, but that’s not where the fish are at. If you try to sit in one spot the current is so strong that you can’t present the bait properly. Not to mention safety. If you notice we rarely ever get up on the front desk until we are downstream away from the dam. The current can move or spin a 20ft like it’s is nothing. Thanks for watching
@@sherrykelley2038 I always leave it running when up near the dam. They sound sirens when turning on generators, but do not when they turn one off. If they turn a generator off while you’re inside wing wall the water drops about 1-2ft. This will suck you back upstream into the concrete wall, so there is no time to start the motor. Ive bounced off the walls a few times and it’s scary as hell!!

Would spot lock on a trolling motor work keeping you in one spot?

When you drift back do you turn off your motor or just put it in neutral and keep it running?
