It really does! I wonder what's the perception of non vegans about vegan food. I imagine if they have so many options it must but for everyone, not just vegans
I lived in Oxfordshire when I first went vegan in 1989 and moved to Bicester in 1991 so seeing the vegan options now in the Oxford area now are fabulous no more hunting out the whole food collectives and finding those certain supermarkets that sold tofu! BTW I had my first year lectures in the Natural History Museum lecture theatre where all the chemists and biochemists had organic chemistry lectures. The bit at the back of the museum is a separate museum called the Pitt Rivers Museum and is the anthropological museum for the University and is an Aladdin's cave of items. There are probably items from British Columbia there somewhere.
Glad you got to sample some of our vegan options! I don’t know if you already have this app, but whenever I travel I use Happy cow, as it tells you where all the vegan options are 😊. The Alpro yogurts are amazing! They are like cheesecake to me! We have high protein ones too with 15g protein in and they are lovely too! I agree on the chocolate, we haven’t quite got there yet with vegan chocolate 😅
@@edgbarra its a great app, it even gives you directions to the different restaurants and cafes. People are also able to rate the food and service, and theres also a community on there ☺️. It helped me and my partner out when we were in Rome and Prague 😊
Hey! Love how much you guys are enjoying Oxford! I’ve lived here for a few years now and if you have the time check out a restaurant called the Cambodian Cuisine in Witney - they serve hands down the best selection of Asian vegan meals I’ve ever tried.. phenomenal!! And if you do head that way make sure to head over to the Minster Lovell ruins nearby and walk along the old country roads and spot some super fancy ultra happy chickens with little slippers on, enjoy guys!
crystal, it’s so easy to make soy yogurt! i use edensoy brand because it has just soybeans and water. heat it up in a saucepan, pour into a jar and mix in a capsule of probiotic. cover lightly then leave overnight in a warm spot. i use my microwave with the door left open. so good!
Haha it was fun seeing you critique some of our vegan products here in the U.K! Wagamama is so good! And I always have plain Alpro yoghurt in the fridge to add fruit and muesli to and drizzle Sweet Freedom caramel syrup on top! So yummy!
I have a couple of those bromeliads that bloom the pink flower. It takes about 4 years for them to bloom that flower and once it blooms and the flower dies back, the plant does too but it produces baby plants off of it called pups before it dies! So cool☺️. Looks like u guys had an amazing time!!🤗
Did you know you those water lily leaves are so strong you can stand on top of them? I was just in the botanic garden of Leiden in the Netherlands, and they had them, too, plus old photos showing 3 guys standing on one leaf🫨
If you ever stop by Richmond (in England) you should visit The Royal Botanic Gardens (or kew gardens). It spans acres ans acres and has the most wonderful displays!
What a wonderful day. You guys are such a lovely couple. Even though we’ll never be part of each others “real” lives, I’m glad this platform allows us to share some parts. And that food looked ahhmazing!
So glad you guys enjoyed your time in Oxford. The hidden museum inside the Natural History Museum is called Pitts River Museum, and is my favourite place. I’m so happy you guys got to visit it along with the Botanical Gardens. Shame Delish was closed but glad you found a Wagas!! 🤗
this channel is good about mixing up the topics and taking the camera to different locations. i respect that they love their audience enough to keep changing formats, topics, and stuff to film.
I enjoy that. I feel like many vegan channels now are just debunking carnivore stuff and the comments get full of trolls. This channel is a beautiful oasis
Even though u and Crystal have only been gone a little while, I already miss your recipe videos😪!! This of course doesn't mean that I don't love ur vlog style videos as well. They are both one of my favourite things 2 watch🤩. Thank u guys sooo much!! Happy travelling 2 u both💛!!
I loved this video! If you come back, I would keep your whole Wagamama order the same, except I would switch the pad thai for my personal favourite which is the tofu raisukaree curry! It's fresh, fragrant, light, and delicious. I also love the wok fried greens but they are admittedly quite basic (green veg with soy sauce and fresh garlic)
Lovely that you visited us in England, next time come to Cornwall. We are very lucky to have such a wide range [ Tesco stores are very good ] of vegan products, I'm usually wishing I could try your products in Canada. Love from The Lizard Cornwall x
Wagamamas is the best!! Alpro have just launched their high protein yogurt which are also really good but I generally love the plain greek style. I would recommend trying ‘Hu’ vegan chocolate. They have different bars which are nut butter filled!! Soooo good!!! 🤤
It needs asking: I eat a 3rd of what you eat in a day, and I am still podgy. I do work out. (Female, 49). Do you eat this much every day or only when you are travelling somewhere new? Obviously your muscle mass burns more calories than my muscles. But the pretty lady eats her share as well. Lucky you. :) I will defo go to that vegan campout next time. I wasn't aware there was one!
Welcome! I live not too far from Oxford and have only recently visited the Botanical Gardens myself. They are indeed, amazing. Enjoy your time in the UK , we do have our problems at the moment, but do have some great bread!
Thank you so much for being us. I loved it and appreciate this to us so much. I do love botanical gardens. I have seen a few of them locations on virtual tours with some of my guides, but it is always a pleasure.❤❤❤
Just a tidbit for ya. HP sauce is brown sauce and it's from the UK and stands for "Houses of Parliament", as depicted on the bottle. P.S. Can't believe you liked the yoghurt more than the nomo bar. Outrageous! xD
Looks so amazing!! Regarding Katsu, I believe Yeung man cooking makes it. His recipes are delicious and pretty easy. Looking forward to seeinv the rest of your trip. The island must be sad you're gone...clouds and rain possible in a few days. 😊
Glad you are in Oxford. I went to that same botanical garden and liked the greenhouse too. My favorite thing to do in Oxford was to rent bikes and cycle to Tolkien’s grave (but I am a nerd). For food I went to the oldest pub in Oxford and they had great vegan options. 🤓
Aww! Great to see you guys travelling! Oxford looked like a wonderful place to stay and discover! Looking forward to seeing your Vegan Campout video and, more!
I am from London and have never been to Oxford- the shame! You have definitely given me an idea for a day out with my kids before they go back to Uni in September - thank you! Wish I could have come to see you and my other fav Michael Greger while you were at the Vegan camp out but I was away on holiday abroad at the time. 😐 Love the way you were so excited and positive about all the things you saw and ate here - we are definitely so lucky with all the plant based options we have . Those Alpro yogurts and their plant milks are my go to every day for overnight oats and general snackage. So good. Thanks for a lovely vlog . 😊
So fun to see you in the UK enjoying what we take for granted. Nomo isn't my favourite vegan chocolate, I prefer the vegan versions of Green & Blacks, they are less sweet and super chocolatey.
The covered market is not a patch on what it was. It used to be a diverse covered market, I remember buying fabric there, their used to be multiple grocers, shoe shops, bakeries, butchers, fishmonger, sausage & soap makers, book shops and key cutters.
It can't have been hard to find Wagamana ( they are part of a chain) as they are in Market Street next to the Covered Market. I'm sorry the vegan curry house has gone, they were great - I hope they have just moved. I would have suggested Dosa Park down by the station or the restaurant in the Jam Factory just round the corner from Dosa Park. Or heading down Cowley Road where there are a load of great places to eat.
The covered market reminds me of the Granville Island Market in Vancouver. I was just visiting relatives in BC for a couple of weeks back in early July and spent an afternoon there. Loved it. Looking forward to the video of the rest of your trip.
Hi guys, so happy you had a great time here exploring. Sorry I missed you at the vegan camp out. Due to commitments I didn't get there this year, I hope you get to come back 🙏 x
Pleased you had a great time in my home town. Haven't even watched the video yet. Sadly being Carnivore, I don't eat the food you love but it's great that I have lots of places I can take my vegan friends when they visit me. Did you get a chance to do the carb crawl when you were here? Oxford has some utterly wonderful patisserie's and bakeries. There are so many vegan foods I miss, that I have been known to 'bad 4 me' food days when I go get all the great vegan food I miss. I hope your having a great time at the vegan festival you mention presumably this weekend?
So nice to follow your adventures in Oxford! 😍 We also have Wagamama in the Netherlands, but I’ve never been. Seeing the delicious food you've enjoyed there makes me excited to try it myself!
HP sauce is a type of brown sauce, usually tamarind is a feature of them, Daddies is another brand of brown sauce in the UK. Glad you enjoyed! Good on baked beans and toasted cheese (vegan of course)
So entertaining watching you enjoy British vegan food! You can make katsu curry at home. Try an Asian Market and ask for the Japanese curry. It's like a solid bar and you dissolve so many squares in water to make the sauce. Highly recommend! 👌
The nomo caramel bar is better than the cookie dough in my opinion. Since you liked the Alpro yoghurt, try the Alpro custard, it’s delicious. Enjoy your holiday!
Thanks for sharing your 'live post card' & adventures! {I love to see places around this world} 🌞 @ some point, I hope to explore Europe and the quaint vegan options out there ☮️💚
Enjoy your time in the UK! British vegans are so lucky, their vegan food scene seems amazing!
It really does! I wonder what's the perception of non vegans about vegan food. I imagine if they have so many options it must but for everyone, not just vegans
we have so much choice over here there's really no good excuse for not going vegan here!
I lived in Oxfordshire when I first went vegan in 1989

are fabulous
no more hunting out the whole food collectives

So wonderful to see your enthusiasm for the gardens and museums. Thankyou for sharing your learnings and experiences ❤
Haha it was fun seeing you critique some of our vegan products here in the U.K! Wagamama is so good! And I always have plain Alpro yoghurt in the fridge to add fruit and muesli to and drizzle Sweet Freedom caramel syrup on top! So yummy!
I wish we had longer to enjoy and try some of the food in the grocery stores.. next time ;)
This was so wholesome. I love seeing you visit my country! ❤
I have a couple of those bromeliads that bloom the pink flower. It takes about 4 years for them to bloom that flower and once it blooms and the flower dies back, the plant does too but it produces baby plants off of it called pups before it dies! So cool☺️. Looks like u guys had an amazing time!!🤗
This was 100% delightful. Loved the music. So so fun
You two look really terrific, seriously glowing, as if you're both aging backwards.... so jelly!
Thanks so much :D
Who else loves Crystal's outfit and the hat! So perfect. The food looks delicious.
She always has a great sense of style!
Totally! She has style
Did you know you those water lily leaves are so strong you can stand on top of them? I was just in the botanic garden of Leiden in the Netherlands, and they had them, too, plus old photos showing 3 guys standing on one leaf🫨
alpro soy yogurt was the first vegan yogurt I‘ve tried and like 8 years later still remains my fave out of all the ones I‘ve tried!
its the best!
If you ever stop by Richmond (in England) you should visit The Royal Botanic Gardens (or kew gardens). It spans acres ans acres and has the most wonderful displays!
What a wonderful trip and experience! Thanks for sharing with us.
Y’all ate super well! I’m from the UK but lived abroad most of my adult life, and the vegan scene back home is so much better, I miss it!
I love the uk❤the people, the buildings, the green countryside,& so much history.thanks for sharing your adventures.cheers from across the pond. 🇦🇺
What a wonderful day. You guys are such a lovely couple. Even though we’ll never be part of each others “real” lives, I’m glad this platform allows us to share some parts. And that food looked ahhmazing!
Thank you so much!
If you think the bread was good in the uk , try the rye bread in Germany! They do the best bread !
Welcome to the UK. Hope you have a great time. Btw, HP sauce IS brown sauce🙂
😂
Wow! That makes we want to go there! You’ll be great at speaking!!
I have been to Oxford and never found these places - thank you for sharing - I enjoyed this !
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks for watching :D
In the UK we have crap weather but great vegan options 😆
this channel is good about mixing up the topics and taking the camera to different locations. i respect that they love their audience enough to keep changing formats, topics, and stuff to film.
I enjoy that. I feel like many vegan channels now are just debunking carnivore stuff and the comments get full of trolls. This channel is a beautiful oasis
Thanks for sharing Oxford UK with us. I'm really missing your content and Faces 😆 Y'all are Amazing! Safe travels home. 💚
Thanks! We are back home safe, and have lots of videos coming up :D
Thanks! I'll be back to doing what I do best soon, I have a few more travel videos to post and then back to regular Simnett stuff haha
Glad you got to eat at Wagamama, such a great vegan menu for a chain restaurant. 🌱🇬🇧
It's amazing, we will definitely eat there again!
Lovely that you visited us in England, next time come to Cornwall. We are very lucky to have such a wide range [ Tesco stores are very good ] of vegan products, I'm usually wishing I could try your products in Canada. Love from The Lizard Cornwall x

Great video Derek and Crystal! All the Best to you! Have fun! Can't wait for the Germany episode.
Wagamamas is the best!! Alpro have just launched their high protein yogurt which are also really good but I generally love the plain greek style. I would recommend trying ‘Hu’ vegan chocolate. They have different bars which are nut butter filled!! Soooo good!!! 🤤
You would both love Australia along the coastline it's very tropical and looks alot like the indoor green house you visited in UK
I wish Alpro would come to Canada . I tried it when we were in Spain and Belgium it is so good !
Happy Cow app is the one vegans use when travelling. Apparently it's quite informative on vegan or vegetarian food places in every country!
Yeah it's great!
Welcome to Oxford! This has made my day.
The food and scenery all looks amazing. What a great trip! ~Tracy
I love this travelogue! Thanks for sharing it with us!
So happy you both came over here and visited Oxford. Hope you come back soon!

You should try out a Pret A Manger bageutte with avo sundried tomato and pine nuts (if they have that one, it's awesome!)
Indian here. You are welcome for everything.
You should see if you can find HU chocolate (Sainsbury's) it's amazing.
Have a great time in the UK 🎉
Welcome! I live not too far from Oxford and have only recently visited the Botanical Gardens myself. They are indeed, amazing. Enjoy your time in the UK , we do have our problems at the moment, but do have some great bread!
I'm from the USA and when I go to the UK I buy Alpro it's so tasty.
Thank you so much for being us. I loved it and appreciate this to us so much. I do love botanical gardens. I have seen a few of them locations on virtual tours with some of my guides, but it is always a pleasure.❤❤❤

Oh wow we didn't know that! That makes sense because it tastes the same. And the yogurt was actually so good, I was shocked.
Awesome video. Thanks guys. Love your vibe x

We have a few more on the way!
A toastie is just a sandwich that has been toasted

Hi I live in Oxford UK glad you enjoyed yourselves.xx
All the food looked amazing, enjoy your trip!

For the katsu curry, look up a brand called golden curry , they have multiple spicyness versions .
Thank you!
My home town! Have a great time in the UK. I'm in Cornwall now 😊

Aw welcome to the UK guys 😊 enjoy! X

U agree. We get it in Australia. We get some Alpro products but I've not seen the yoghurt
