If you truly enjoy the experience of shooting with an M, why not get one just for that pleasurable experience - and not for work. I have found that having a camera that gives me a lot of pleasure using, and using it exclusively for my personal photography, allows me to really let go of work and to fully enjoy my 'for-pleasure-only' camera. Only you can decide if that possibility is worth the sticker price. For me it definitely is; it is very liberating.
I’ve been using the M10 for 5 years now. I came from a Canon system and had always used autofocus cameras. I always wanted a Leica M and was really nervous about the learning curve but my experience seems much less daunting than yours. Leica loaned me a Leica M10 and 35mm summilux. The first day I took 150 photos. Maybe 2 were out of focus. I found it not difficult at all to focus as the patch makes it super easy. So I can’t relate there with you but perhaps wearing glasses and shooting at 28mm has made it more difficult? And yeah shooting manual with a Q and hoping it relates to an M does not help unless you plan on just using the live view.
I'm glad you enjoying it! M10 is just a fire experience, I always want to sell it, then I shoot with it, then I fall in love with it again hahaha. Love all your photos and the tones are from the Lord. yes live view drains the battery so much! but if I don't use LV then battery can last me all day! ive been using it at portrait shoots with 28mm for wide environmental establishing shots, and on my sony I rock the 70-180 for any close up vibes
Great video Luis! Thanks for sharing. I feel I have been prepping myself for the next jump to a rangefinder by using manual focus on the q2/3. I just can’t decide what I want. I’m very partial to a M10M but my budget says M240….haha
M10 series is pretty good. Is much way better than other digital M series camera. However, in low light there will have a issue with a chance to triggering. My M10P was had this problem once. This led me to sell it in the end.
@@luischavezphoto When you shoot at a light source like a lamp in a dark environment, the photo will show a black line. I think this should be a sensor issue, but my friend thinks it's a data issue caused by the motherboard.
@@KN1F3_GODThat sounds like a "dead Pixel". I had a blue line appearing at a high iso in scenes like the one you describe. Basically, a Pixel gives of a faulty signal that then affect the rest of the pixels in that line. If it is a "dead Pixel", it can usually be fixed with remapping. In more modern cameras there is often a build in programme to do that in camera. With the M10, for me, I just made contact with Leica customer support. They asked me to send a raw-file where the line was showing. The next day I received a file to install on the camera. All free of charge and I never saw the line again after that. Could be worth to try :)
@@luischavezphotoI recently picked up the Voigtlander 28 2.2 color skopar for my M240. Impossible to see framelines with glasses. I need to roll my eye around but am still really guessing as to framing and it is always wider than I expect. OTOH with zone focus it is really easy to shoot from the hip and there is room to drop later. Enjoy the 50 mm more but I did want to try to go wider.
Leica M11-D is around the corner, you could sell the X100IV for more money then what you pay for. A pure photo camera has always been a dream for me, I don't need video, a LCD sceen, I even hope Leica get rid of the Wifi on the M11-D
You should try a used canon 5D MK II, Sony A900 or a nikon D700, you will be amazed by the build quality, perfect ergonomics and great IQ. If you miss the Leica experience, just switch to manual on these japanese gems and buy an adapter for your lenses.
I've used so many camera over the years and while I think there are no bad cameras, there's definitely a camera out there for everyones shooting preference!
I've had a Q3 and am picking up my first M10 tomorrow!
Hope you enjoy it!

Good to know! Thanks for sharing your experience. I haven’t really shot it in low light at all yet.

Is it hard to see 28mm framelines with glasses?
It’s a bit annoying but not a deal breaker!

@@ciscognzbut I like wearing glasses 🥲
