I attended a show of yours in New Hampshire in 2017 just a week or so after my Army buddy 1LT Weston Lee stepped on an IED in Iraq and lost his life. I messaged you all on Facebook ahead of your show expressing some frustration that my buddy was dead but life seemed totally normal here at home without anyone even taking notice. In that message I also asked for you all to play this song if you could fit it into the set. I didn’t expect you all to read my letter during the show and I didn’t expect to have a the Star Spangled Banner followed by this song play in honor or Wes.
I greatly appreciated that. At the time I was shocked enough to just cry right there in front of everyone. I was in the front row so that made it a bit more embarrassing. But it meant a lot to me. Thank you guys for that moment.

I have never in my life cried for some song. My grandfather (age 90) is a Holocaust survivor and tells me stories of WW2. And the “trust me grandson the war was in color” just hits so different. Especially the fact that my 2 great uncles were killed by Nazi’s around age 21 before one had a son. Just so I could live a life full of color.

I love this song. I'm so happy for this. I needed it today. Thank you. My grandfather was a merchant marine in the Pacific Theater.

Still way better than Jamie Johnsons stolen song "in color" 😅❤

Agreed! But in fairness “The War Was In Color” was released a few years earlier so we’ve had more time to appreciate it!😎 😂

I don't know that the two are comparable. Johnson's is more of a broad range remembrance where this is focused solely on the war.
