This has to be one of the best pure performances I have ever seen. The artist of the past where just too special & were truer artist than those of today. You might never see an artist like this ever!!! Long live Zapp and Roger!!!
i was fortunate enough to see roger and zapp live in san diego many years ago...i was seated in an area that i thought would be impossible to even get close to him. but he came in riding on the shoulders of a bodyguard. he passed right by me and slapped my hand. needless to say the concert rocked. i am a veteren of old school and concerts like these including the commodores, earth wind and fire, and the barkays...those were days and music that i will never forget.
Roger was amazing..I remember (maybe I was 10 years old) when I heard for the first time ´´More bounce..´´I was absolutely fascinated..then my father (who likes Roger a lot..I have to thank my father if I know Roger and his music)told me some things about Roger and his music and the Talkbox..and I felt in love with him...and it´s really sad that his own brother killed him.. I will never forget his music.... R.I.P.
My man Roger Troutman...one of if not the baddest coolest slickest funkiest cats to ever walk the earth bar none! And his legacy lives on. Yellow Springs Ohio misses you brotha. Peace in the heavens
I thought I was the only one who still felt this old school funk! I'm glad to see there are others out there who still appreciate the Genius of Zapp & Roger Troutman (R.I.P.) "On The One Y'all!!"
This is the second day I'm looking at this and it's amazin'! They all look so animated and enthused to perform. Those are real musicians with original sound truth be told! Where have the real musicians gone to????
Every misses you Roger if you never seeing ZAPP live in concert you have to check them out they are not only a music they are what you call true entainers. much love and Respect from the Roldans in Southern california city of Compton
You can see some Time in that little sliding dance move and a little bit of Prince in there but Roger's meat and potatoes was the talkbox! One tube to rule them all. HEHEHEHHE
I used to go see Roger's group - ROGER AND THE HUMAN BODY - most Thursday nights at the Boar's Head in Oxford, OH in '74 and '75. He had this same intensity and talent before he got famous.
I've maintained for the last 7 years since I first saw it, that this is the best thing on youtube. Nothing better could ever be posted, and that would be fine. This is as good as anything needs to be. Well done everyone involved. x
Do you see how he holds that note from 5:12 to 5:31 ....Who does that anymore...the man was a genius....so much showmanship...the music was so live and real...just amazing.... One of the greatest performances ive ever seen! Long live Zapp and Roger's music... RIP Roger and Larry
CRAZY ENERGY!!! So HOT!! Every sound is played by a person live - no sequenced tracks/ no laptop / no portastudio/tape/CD backing tracks to hold them back. The whole band is mad talented & knows how to make a show = a party. (even if it's the same routine, it's always unique). "Is this BET?" Not anymore brother
i remeber i was only like 7 or 8 and he had a conert where im from, and YES i fell in love then, with his music, his personality, everything roger and i love him till this day!!!!!
Without a doubt, Roger Troutman was an angel and I had the pleasure of touring with him very briefly in the early 80's. Btw, on the drums is my brother pka today as PleasureMore "Key to My Heart"
OMFG. I can't believe I haven't seen this. This is amazing. What a show. What a SHOW! I love rap, but I can't believe these rap dudes make as much money as they do and they don't rock the house like this. Amazing. Truly amazing!
man i never realized how talented roger was, the man could do it all, play geetar, talkbox, and sing and put on a good show. talent like this doesnt exist anymore and that sucks.
What showmanship...just come naturally...I am trying to find his version to "I only have eyes for you" just an amazing arrangement. He was really musically talented not only just a great performer....
see man...dats wut we missin today...it aint like dat no mo...dat mane all in da crowd cuttin up actin a fool wit it and erbody jus chillin and havin fun...classic...makes me wish i was born bak then so i coulda witnessed all da ol skool artist in their prime...i love dis vid. R.I.P. Roger and Larry!!!
No kidding on the guitar. I love that clangy sound it has. They're definitely the core of the funk. Well, P-Funk is there too. I'm sad that nobody is going forward with this type of music.
Each time I visit the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia, I remember the 5 five U.S. Marines and 1 "Hospital Corpsman" who hoisted the second American flag on Iwo Jima. PM2 John Bradley was an outstanding Hospital Corpsman, whose hand I had personally shaken. The number of U.S. Marines "killed in action" far exceeds the number of Hospital Corpman "awarded" the Medals of Honor... However, who's keeping statistics? LOL RIP, Roger --- WilsDomain (U.S. Marine/Cold War veteran)
This has to be one of the best pure performances I have ever seen. The artist of the past where just too special & were truer artist than those of today. You might never see an artist like this ever!!! Long live Zapp and Roger!!!
