Hey guys! I think Trevor having to putt twice from inside the circle and make both instead of flipping a disc would be more entertaining and solve the tap in dilemma. Love the videos! Keep it up!
@@digital0785 Makes SO much more sense. Don't think the idea of the original question ever intended that your chance of making any given C1 putt would be 50%, but that your overall C1 percentage would be 50% which is completely different and doesn't equal missing five footers.
They should do this but for the putting debuff, you have to make the putt twice, and for the buff you get two chances to make the putt. That seems the most fair way to double and half your putting abilities.
Completely agree, but it does put the putting buff at a bit of a disadvantage. I would add the caveat that the putting player gets 2 putts from C1 and C2.
As far as a comparison to the theory I have no words. What I can say is that you guys are like a fine wine. The clever content. The way you sell your sponsors. Not to mention watching your friendship and work relationship clash together. Your guys really have put yourselves out there. Being able to watch it blossom into what is becoming is pretty cool. You deserve all the success you are getting. Thanks for all the hard work.
In the same vain then Trevor could just move his lie to a tap in everything. This helps counter that I think. Maybe make it so Trevor can only get to circles edge or 25 feet, then make him make 2 putts to add to the 50% putt percent
I think you guys should have done where Trevor would have needed to make TWO putts for it to count inside C1, OR let the 50/50 flip be just for one stroke (you miss the putt but guaranteed the next one). Bullseye would be a gimme. It seemed like Trevor’s score relied a LOT on luck.
I think Trevor should have only been able to add 200 feet on his drive. A short upshot doesn’t really change even if you have more distance. Great video though!
I think a big issue I have with this is the putting rules are super simple, but the distance rules are kind of funky and leave a lot to chance. Hunter just has to throw good lines until he's in the circle. Trevor has to calculate vectors and make decisions about using his ability to get inside the circle. And then finally he can leave it to chance. If 400 ft is your golf line. Keep the putting rules the same, and then do 200 ft added distance but only on the drive (or first two on a par 5). Being able to scoot your disc up under the basket 80 ft on your third throw has nothing to do with distance arguments. And then inside the circle he has to make two in a row.
The weird thing is that you throw putters 300ft instead of using a 9-11 speed like most ams that can barely break 300 do. The biggest benefit of throwing far is being able to throw mids and putters on longer shots.
former tournament golfer of 20 years best way to find out what’s more important is to play from 100ft in and see what you shot vs playing from the tea pads. You’ll be surprised how similar the scores are and you’ll realize it’s really about how good your bad shots/ throws are
You should have just moved Trevor’s lie and tee shot 200 ft closer to the basket. Edit, also tap ins aren’t putting imho so the flip should have been for outside 10ft.
To add my two cents, I think if it were just adding buffs to each of your game and alternate the holes? Putting buff: 100% in the circle and 2 chances from 33ft to 50ft. Driving distance buff: Add 150ft, but maybe increase in distance based on drawing the same line +200ft instead of mirroring the casual relief rule. The handicaps hurt to watch. Maybe add other buffs and just make it a game? Accuracy driving buff: 2 off the tee. Upshot accuracy buff: 2 shots from 175ft to 80ft out. Inside circle buff: 100% inside the circle. Outside the circle buff: 33ft to 50ft (2 putts) 50ft to 70ft (3 putts). ORRR create a list of characters based on current pros, maybe using mocks ups of trading cards that are drawn randomly at the start of each hole, each of the characters have a set of abilities, maybe some handicaps? Example? Gannon Buhr Improved circle 2 putting: For all putts taken within 33-66ft from the target, take a second putt if the first is missed. Single use ability: Flex line accuracy: If throwing an overstable flex shot, gain shot accuracy buff and take a second shot. If single use ability is used all concurrent shots must be timed by card mates. If 30 seconds are exceeded, receive one penalty throw.
+200 ft buff should only work if you throw a full power drive, and only if you don't hit a tree. To balance that, ditch the 50/50 putts if you can reach in the basket, so laying up within C1 becomes a valid strategy (but one that Trevor won't succeed with every time).
So on hole 3 when Trevor putted from 40 feet couldn't he have moved up to right outside circle and been closer without having to flip. Because it's up to 200 feet he can move closer right?
You should have done that one could tee from 100 feet closer to the basket, and one could have every put inside c1 as a gimme. Just as easy as that, no flipping discs or such
I feel like for the distance debuff it shouldn’t just be a flat number, it should reflect an overall power decrease so putter max D should be different than driver max D
Maybe I’m mistaken…but since the idea is you miss 50% of C1X (not just C1) it eliminates bullseye…like others are saying, a true tap in isn’t going to be missed but you could say everything 10-33ft you flip for it?
him taking shots from circle 2 makes sense because if he gets it in it's not 5050.. because if he flip and gets tails he has to flip again .. if it was setup so he just doesn't make that put but automatically gets the next one then it would be 50/50 so it 100% sense to run it when he can have a drop in and be hosed multiple times in a row
Absolutely love the concept of this video! However, I don’t think we got to see the full advantage of 200 extra feet. I understand the theory of “keeping the line,” but extra distance unlocks the ability for new lines… I’d think the spirit of the thing is more important than the actual line Trevor puts it on initially (especially if you’re going to keep flipping for tap in putts). Just give yourself a similar look farther down toward the basket (not deeper in the woods or way off target)
Posting this answer solely based off of the video title. I'd settle for just another 50'. Seem to be stuck at 350-370' max. Just those extra 50 feet would give more looks at putts. It would be sweet to hit every putt, but having more looks would be more fun long term. Being perfect at anything would kinda take the fun out of things. At least for me. Now to watch the video...
I think for the putting, it should have just been every other hole the made put is counted as a miss to be more accurate. Essentially it's adding 9 strokes to the round anyway. that's more accurate of MISSING 50% of putts as opposed to a 50% chance you get to keep the made putt or not.
Be interested in how you adjust this game in the future. I think hunter should be able to walk out 250 and place a shot and see what that does. By hunter a mean the guarantee put guy
I love the idea for the video, but we know nobody misses a 3-5’ putt, so the only ones he should have to flip on are ones that are somewhat challenging. Or he could have to make every putt twice for it to count.
Caveat to Trevor's bonus could be: You can add up to 200ft, but you can't do more than double your distance. In other words, if you only throw it 50 feet, you can only add another 50.
Definitely think it should've been c1x is 50% with an actual coin since discs are more likely to land on tails, but his advantage should not have applied to scramble shots as well. Or maybe you can only proceed as far the fair way takes you, if that makes any sense.
As soon as trevor picked the cap rap i knew he was losing. Should have gone with whatever disc has the most dome in his bag, if it hits on the top it will pop right back over most of the time.
Trevor shouldn't have to putt at all inside C1. If he is inside he just instantly flips on if he makes it or not.. If you force him to make the putt it compounds the miss percentage. Say he is 60% C1, if he has a 25 footer and has to putt it then flip his make percentage goes to 30% (.6 x .5) so by making him actually putt his make percentage drops to even lower than the theoretical 50%. Do it again!! Fun watch!
I think to make it a little more fair, you should limit the speed of the disc hunter throws instead of distance. That way he still has birdie chances off a good shot but if he can throw a seven speed 400 good for him
Trevor really shouldn't have to make the putt AND win the flip. Maybe it should have been just flip if inside C1 and keep flipping until he wins a flip. So a strole for every lost flip.
I love the concept but I think it would’ve been better if hunter could throw normal distance and Trevor could put normally. I feel like that would truly give an accurate depiction of simply adding 200 feet and simply being 100% from c1x
I think it goes against the spirit of the hypothetical question to make Trevor have to flip for tap ins too. Having your c1 percentage cut in half obviously means on actual putts, not under the basket drop ins. I'd like to see a video like this again but nerf the tap in putt disc flip.
I would much rather make every put. I aready throw 100-120 meters consistently and as an amateur / recreational player that is more than enough. If i made every put i would be scoring very well for my skill level.
Fun idea but this rule set doesn’t accurately depict the real argument, nobody is so bad at putting that they would miss a literal drop in 50% of the time. I think a better version of this would be always add 1 to Trevor’s putt unless it’s a tap in. Meaning if he makes a 12+ footer you add one to his score. But if it’s a tap in you don’t add anything extra. Simulates someone who can’t putt more realistically. Part of the advantage of the drive for show person would be if they gave themselves tap ins they don’t need to be good at putting. The only advantage the putt for dough person has is they don’t need to approach as accurately/they can run longer putts and make the come backer. But they mathematically can’t make a lot of birdies depending on the length of the hole.
The method you picked for Trevor’s putting made absolutely no mathematical correlation to the entire question. It’s not 50% inside circle 1 if he’s constantly missing 1-3 foot putts.
Why is this experiment even necessary? Distance separates different skill levels. Now when i say distance in skill levels it's a big gap. 20ft isn't going to cut it. You need 60 to 100ft depending on the course. The Little things like putting, approaches, and versatility separates people within those skill levels.
How come Trevor had to make the putt before he flipped to see if he could keep it? If the idea of this is truly what Hunter is convinced of, then shouldn't Trevor have flipped before he putted and just seen whether he "made it" or not?
I don't remember how they worded it on the video but on the podcast they said you lose 50% of your current C1 accuracy, not that every putt is made 50% of the time. Hope that helps!
Not sure why Trevor wasn’t throwing a putter dead straight down the middle and then marching 200 ft forwards. If you throw 600 ft then you’re throwing putters 400 with control
I think the math was wrong for Trevor inside the circle. He should have flipped every time he's inside the circle and not putt. Let's just say he's a 70% circle 1 putter, you're taking 50% of that since he doesn't flip on misses
This was a great idea but Trevor should not have been setting his disc in the perfect spot! Unless Hunter was able to put his in the perfect spot. The one hole is 250 straight and then 450 something left and he can just take it 200 feet or until he has a great line?? I don’t know!!
If you really wanted trevor to have 50% putting in c1x, you should have just taken his number of strokes inside c1, and added half as many to his final score. No putting, same as hunter
Hunter should be forced to rethrow if he throws at least 25 feet past 300 feet. If he does it again on the same throw he is penalized. Trevor should have to make 2 putts in a row instead of the flipping a disc. There is no reason why Trevor shouldn't ALWAYS putt from 10.01 meters if he has to option to. Assuming he is at least 51% from just outside the circle. This would prevent that and actually cut his putting by 50%. This should be done on a course where there are more 300-400 foot holes. For Hunter to have any chance at New London, Trevor HAS to have a bunch of bad flips essentially. Trevor can throw putters and mids and be more accurate to so the 200 feet extra is way more accurate for him on the shorter courses. Since he can easily throw 400 with drivers but putters and mids is another thing.
I feel like the Trevor putting rule negated the experiment. As well as Hunter having to move back. Would have been more accurate without those two stipulations. Just my opinion though. Very entertaining regardless.
I think next time Trevor only gives to move closer on his T shot. Hitting a tree and then getting to move closer seems dumb lol. Either that or he HAS to take exactly 200 feet. Hunters stuck at 300 so if Trevor is taking the distance it should be the full 200 whether that’s good or bad
Hey guys! I think Trevor having to putt twice from inside the circle and make both instead of flipping a disc would be more entertaining and solve the tap in dilemma. Love the videos! Keep it up!
exactly what I was going to say

Yeah I would love to see it with this ruleset
@@elijahs.1429the flip should have been for whether he makes the putt or he just adds a stroke to his score.
Yep. This way ruined the whole point of distance vs putting cause no one is 3 putting from 1 foot away

Great concept, but come on guys, if someone is under the basket, they cant miss, other than that, i liked it.

I mean, I’ve missed 3 footers before, so it’s not outside the impossible realm 😅
This was one of my favorite video premises I’ve seen you guys do in a while. I thought the whole thing was great! Great job guys!
Hey! This was my Patreon question! This is so exciting to see as a video!

Depends on the course
For the 300 foot person should map the course for perfect 300 foot shot to C1 and that’s your score to beat.
I didn't realize that was Konner on the Shaman - I thought it was Post Malone.
Trevor really shouldn't have to make the putt AND win the flip. Maybe it should have been just flip if inside C1 and keep flipping until he wins a flip. So a strole for every lost flip.
I think counting tapins was silly, but otherwise made sense. Just because it's almost 100% physically impossible to miss a tap in.

putting is way more important in my opinion
Putting is more important than extra distance until you have to throw a shot 350ft+ over water 😁
Trevor should only be able to advance to the next tree. Throwing it harder at a tree doesn't make it go further.

I feel like the Trevor putting rule negated the experiment. As well as Hunter having to move back.
Would have been more accurate without those two stipulations. Just my opinion though. Very entertaining regardless.
moral of the story... if you can't hit your line, it doesn't matter if you can throw far or putt good xD
Hunter should have been able to go up to 300ft on the same line of his disc
I dont understand why trevor didnt use his advantage on hole 18 at all!
I think next time Trevor only gives to move closer on his T shot. Hitting a tree and then getting to move closer seems dumb lol. Either that or he HAS to take exactly 200 feet. Hunters stuck at 300 so if Trevor is taking the distance it should be the full 200 whether that’s good or bad
in order to prove it you have to repeat the results so now do it with the roles swithced
didn't like the 50/50 for EVERY putt. no one is missing that many putts once they are inside the circle.
Trevor shouldn’t be able to move forward if he hits a tree. Even if you can throw a disc 200ft further, a tree still knocks it down.
I was lost until I was rangefound
