    Guys, please excuse us. This video was filmed before we learnt how to pronounce Vama Veche! We now know that the way we pronounced it sounds so ridiculous🙈 Love you guys, and thanks for teaching us how to pronounce it the right way❤️🇹🇩

      I like the way that you pronounced it : vama vece :))). Most resorts on the Romanian coast are named after the planets of the solar system, I don't know if you knew this, but there are a few exceptions, Vama Veche being one of them. By the way, Vama Veche means in rough translation: old customs, the town is on the border between Romania and Bulgaria.

    Appreciate the time you take to visit Romania. Exploring the culture, the people, the places, history, food gives us the viewers a better understanding of what Romania is about. I left Bucharest 46 yrs. ago and you are showing me a different Romania which I much appreciate and convince me to visit. Thanks.

    I am speaking on behalf of my 40 years of experiencing this place called Vama Veche. At the beginning it was before the collapse of the communism, when the beach was just a natural spread of fine sand with white shells, poppies and sheep. Further to 2 Mai, red clays were mixing with sand, giving the water a magical reddish nuance. The feeling was like nowhere, butterflies shared the flowers, it was silent, waves were giving life music to the enchanted ears. Originally there was a small village and my father was born there. I was a peasant boy, playing in mud all day then going for a swim in the sea. I felt nothing else was in the need. Grandma used to send me gather the geese and the two cows on the fields. In the autumn, together with the kids we were roaming the orchards and vineyards, eating grapes and fruits while being chased by watchdogs and mad farmers.. It was such a beautiful part of my life. Later I grew up, I became a rocker, played guitar and drank vodka. There was no place in the universe better for a jam with friends. It was warm, romantic and I felt home. Under the sun, protected by the only three straw umbrellas on the beach and surrounded by dandelions, I learned my first three chords. It was magical. I made love first time at 'Pescarie' , then broke my leg falling from the cliffs towards 2 Mai. It was horrendously beautiful after all, with good and bad moments. I remember fishing in a boat with my father on every single weekend. He was strong and his eyes were powerful and deep. We used to catch loads of fish then had parties with neighbors, drinking red wine and țuica, juice syrup with ' sifon' :)) Everybody was laughing, there was no financial stress, the place was peaceful. Then after the '90s very few people came there during the weekend, mostly guys from Constanta. They were bringing cars and things started to look a bit different. A small parking was established there where now you have the "La Canapele". It was basically blank fields with ciulini and weeds. No buildings at sight. Wind was blowing the grass and sand. Rockers from Constanta and Mangalia joined together for weekend barbecues, frying fish, dancing on the beach. There was a chill atmosphere, people were singing rock ballads by the fire in the night. The garcea (police) were very very very tolerant, they did not mind drunk guys there or couples doing it on the cliffs. It was something else than back in town. Freedom and fresh air, water and open wild beach, it was paradise. Then in weekdays all went back to normal, a simple village was all you could see. Then came the 2000s. "Bibi restaurant" then opened and there was the full sun eclipse that made animals silent while people moaning all across the darkened place. Rockers opened up various pubs and metal was playing hard and noisy basically all around. Long haired weirdoes and head bangers were everywhere, drinking vodka, smoking weed, doing it in various positions, basically with no shame of the others. Vama Veche suddenly became a total brothel, all chicks were fucking and screaming in the full moon, orgies everywhere, nudists were roaming the place and it was so damn cool!! The brotherhood of rock was taking over, the place had its own character and charm.. The "La Stuf" dancing place was invented and it now still remains as the most central and oldest among Vama Veche. Tudor Chirila then brought Vama Veche (the musical band) and the profit-seekers from Bucharest found a way to take advantage. They have intensively promoted the music of Tudor Chirila to attract the masses, then people from all over the country started flocking to the place. It was beautiful at the beginning, music festivals like 'Folk You' and 'Stufstock' spawned in the area. Then came Expirat madness pub on the beach, there I had the most orgasms. Every single year more and more people were gathering, it was basically like Woodstock. It was one of the most beautiful periods of this place called Vama Veche. But that was the peak before the complete destruction started. Unfortunately, the place became progressively more commercially and financially attractive, so the "cocalars" from Bucharest sought fast profits and started buying land, that was veeeery cheap back in those times. And so came the new era of fast development that transited into the actual cultural cataclysm. Buildings and concrete were skyrocketing like mushrooms after the rain. Five stars villas became a reality in Vama Veche and all retarded nouveau riche wannabes flocked up. Manele became a reality in a place of heavy metal dinosaurs. Year after year everything that was originally charming was basically destroyed on behalf of the mighty profit. People had no choice but to come there every year, even though the atmosphere has radically changed and the original mood and "Vamaiots" disappointedly moved to places like Corbu or Vadu. Posh villas and expensive cars then showed up in Vama Veche together with the scum of society and all the non-cultural people from the country. Vama Veche has become progressively a new type of Costinești. It grew all very shitty, very expensive, the food is now even more expensive than in MamaiaJeg. And all that because of the people from Bucharest, that brought with them their culture of "City old town" just in Vama Veche. They have imported the KITSCH, the foreign names that make no sense to the place and the posh attitude, ruining it eventually without any hopes of revival. As a conclusion, one may ask how come the Greeks, French or British do keep their conservatory traditions for centuries while still ruling the modern world, as opposed to societies like Romania and other developing ones that want to peculiarly stress upon their advancement towards kitschy wannabe development? One of our brightest Romanian minds once said something, and that now makes perfect sense: " La vremuri noi, tot noi.." (In modern times, we'll still be ourselves - the same.) - Ion Luca Caragiale.

Finest sand, no seaweeds, few people, you get boat rides all around the Danube "delta" :D also, the food is the best. It's only fish based food and in most of the local places, you just take a seat and the hosts start bringing you food, all for 60 RON per person (12 eur / 14 usd). I live in Mangalia, only 7 km from Vama Veche, so îs kind of backyard for me. The seaweed îs sort of normal in some days, especially after the wind îs blowing from north east and the sea was agitated or after the storm. Usually the seaweed îs cleaned during the night by municipality. The fact that you said the water îs cold makes me to think that the days before you made
    it there were windy. The sea îs getting cold when the winds are blowing from NE.

    Vama veche is pronounced something like "vama veake" in eng. veake is obviously the wrong spelling but that might work with the pronuntiation :)
    Btw, there are more premium beaches in Constanta too. Vama veche is by far the hippiest tho. But there are Mamaia which is the more luxorius one a bit more expensive there too but the sand is good. Costinesti, Eforie Nord/Sud. Also there are some private beaches as well. Also the seaweed is obviously because of recent storms and bad weathers but they should clear soon.
    Vama Veche is also my favourite because of the vibes. Have fun in Constanta 👍

    Too bad, guys, u didnt try the beaches in Constanța and Mamaia, which r the finest like in the Phillipines. Vama Veche is not the place to be unless one is a little hippy in their hearts. The big resorts like in Majorca or Tenerife or wherever is the Mamaia resort, right next to the Constanța city :D

    • @RaduP3
      @RaduP3 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with what you said, but I have one mention, hope I am not wrong since I haven't visited Constanta in a few years: the Mamaia beach is the beautiful one, and from what I rememember, correct me if I'm wrong, Constanta beach sucks. They are very close to each other, if you can choose pick Mamaia not Constanta

    • @civfanatic8853
      @civfanatic8853 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RaduP3 No, no, the Contanța beaches were rehabilitated and hugely enlarged with rou-eur money and one of its most famous is the place for the NeverSea festival(same like Untold, but at the sea) I know ppl who r in love with the sea and lately dont even go to Mamaia, when dwelled in Constanța, but use the huge rehabilitated beaches of the city :) Constanța rocks as a beach city lately, believe me(Mamaia is too far meantime, haha) :D

    • @civfanatic8853
      @civfanatic8853 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@6876I You are just a hater or a troll. The second half of the beach near the Vega Hotel in Mamaia is finer and cooler than in the Phillipines or Thailand, plus the shade of this and that tree. Im a local too, from Buch, so pls dont tell me where i should go. I love the romanian seaside, although its the ugliest in the entire Black Sea because of the Danube DELTA LOL Danube is spilling huge amounts of sediments just a little north of the romanian seaside, so our sea side is worse even than the north Crimean one, but its unbelieveable beauty just at Nessebar/Burgas from Bulgaria or at all its southern coast along the northern Turkey :)
