The guy offered him salad and tissues , mate he’s in a market, getting a curry and rice for £4.50 and moaning ! You couldn’t even get a meal in a nasty chicken shop for that much, talking about he wants some top end service ! He should stick to his English pie and mash shops ! You can see his bias from his reviews he does of what he is about !
In my opinion, it’s foreign contempt for British white people! The way I was treated at the Bullring in Birmingham by black people and also Muslims was absolutely disgusting. However, on a positive note we went to a Vietnamese restaurant for lunch and they were the most courteous, well mannered people and served us the most delicious food. I still talk about it now and it was almost a year ago. next time somebody treats you like that Darren, I would tell them that they are rude because maybe they are not even aware of what they’re doing!
Gross food and rude customer service, what isn’t there to like!! Strange,it’s almost like they don’t want to be there, and it’s cash only because they don’t pay taxes most probably
You got that spot on I brought my three kids up on my own like I was brought up to be respectful and courteous but unfortunately different generation now
It certainly costs something to be impolite and discourteous. We had a wonderful lady come into our family's nursery last weekend and spend a little over 5000 dollars (Canadian) on shrubs and perennials. She told us how she walked out of the garden centre of a big box store earlier that day after being treated poorly by their staff. I should send their employees a thank you card.
When i go to my local petrol station, one of the Indian guys in there is often on his phone (which is on loudspeaker) chatting away & does not even acknowledge me verbally or even make eye contact while i pay by card ! Good Customer service is fast becoming a thing of the past.
The reason Uber drivers don’t say thank you is because 99 percent of them don’t understand English even though they have supposedly passed a English B1 exam lol righty o ! Love the channel
Chrisp Street market use to be brilliant back in the day. Not a nice place now. Food is hit and miss. That curry place you reviewed I ate there. Ended up with a touch of food poisoning.
That naan looked just like the ones you buy in supermarkets and as for the bhaji biscuit that looked truly horrific. Think you are right Darren service and politeness is definitely changing for the worse unfortunately it's society all-over now what a pity.
If an establishment is going to be discourteous, then they don't really want my money, and they don't deserve it. Plenty of good places to eat out there.
You’re bang on Darren. I feel the same way about these things. I think to myself well these people are customers themselves everyday some place or other. Are they okay being treated like this when they’re a customer?
Agree, There are plenty of good people still, but there is a certain self cantered cohort and we are irrelevant to them unless they can use you in some way . A lot of it is narcissism
Held a door open for a bloke who was carrying a cardboard box , never got any thankyou or even a cheers , next thing he knew was his box was suddenly on the ground and his throat was in contact with my hand - hard school .
Hello brianallan, absolutely agree, I held a door open for a person (a Lady) where I used to work and I got 'I can open a door myself you know' so I just smiled and said, it's the way I was brought up, and I don't apologise for it, have a good day 😊! Y'know, you just can't win sometimes 🙄 !
Wow... that onion bhaji looked more like a hockey puck. I can't believe they served that up. Such a shame it wasn't as good as the last tine you were there but I absolutely love and appreciate your honesty. You call it like you see it. I couldn't agree more in regards to the lack of service and manners that sadly seems to be creeping in everywhere. I mean I remember we had a few issues when I was over there. Like you I was always taught to have manners...please and thank you etc. I'm old school too. The fact places of business treat paying customers like that though blows my mind. Thanks for posting this though. As I've said before it's always brilliant knowing where to go but it's just as handy knowing where to avoid. Continue to kerp it real. Here's hoping the next place is better for your sake though. 🤞🏼😁💙
Hi Darren the bad manners in this country is shocking like most things today I , agree when you pay for a service you are the boss and should get responsible service for your money not the silent treatment or rudeness 😢you are not alone in your thoughts we are all fed up with this.
Gutted that Curry Huts gone to the dogs, it was on my go to list after watching the first video. I’ll still check out Chrisp Street Market though if Maureen’s Pie and Mash is still decent. It’s a good idea to revisit some of the old places you’ve blogged to see if they’re still up to scratch. Thanks for the heads up. Great work as always.
DJ I'm an Uber driver and I always say thank you to the passengers just before they leave the cab, on the flip I often get passengers who jump in and don't say anything and leave also not saying anything slamming my door, btw great honest review 👍🏽
Hard lines on this one my friend. Problem is most of these places don't worry about repeat business or customer loyalty, there'll be another mug along in a minute.
What I don't like is if you're in a shop and you get 2 cashiers talking to each other and act like you're not there. Hopefully you will have a nice curry and good service soon.
Hi Darren, recent new viewer. 1. Definitely not old school to expect manners. 2. Loving the reviews and the chilled attitude, keep it going. Adding the good spots to my list for next visit to London.
Hi mate. I’m probably about in the same age bracket as you, DJ, and I’m always polite to anyone and everyone. I remember when I was a kid growing up in the 60’s and a shopkeeper telling my mum how they loved me because I was so polite; always a please and/or thank you. Costs sod all. Keep up the good work! Cheers.
Unbelievable bad manners, they don’t deserve success, hospitality is all, and good manners cost nothing. You took the hit so we don’t have to. Hope you have a better time next review Darren. All best.
Absolutely agree with you. Politeness to others should be second nature. Why do these businesses employ such people. Nobody cares and its the dumbing down of society. A real pity, however I enjoy your videos..
Another good review Darren. You hit the nail on the head. Good manors cost nothing mate. Places like that I vote with my feet, I'll give my hard earned cash to someone who appreciates it
As Colin Firth as Harry Hart in Kingsman says in the first movieHarry Hart: [Quoting William Horman] "Manners maketh man." Do you know what that means? Then let me teach you a lesson. DJ i love your honesty and expertise.
Good to see you Boyzee as always......These things happen, move onwards and upwards. It did look like crap street but it is what it is lol. Stay Strong!!!!
Hi Darren...Liverpool Kev here....I love your videos...So disappointed when you suffer poor service and /or poor food...I am old school like you Darren...I drove to London from Liverpool to London with a Ford Cortina and a sleeping bag in August 1980...Got a commission only job in Th City next day selling investments....Carter Lane EC4...and stayed for 20 years haha...I miss London terribly as I am not well enough to travel easily these days...I am back on Merseyside 20 years now....For a while I spoke on Cruise ships on 'Customer Service' amongst other things...after volunteering as a passenger to do stand up comedy on P&O Oceania after cancer haha and getting gigs on ships after that for a few years.....You are a good bloke and manners matter like it did for my Mum and Dad...Take care and enjoy seeing London again through your eyes...Liverpool Kev
Totally agree, many a time I have said hello to someone and no response, same as you said, holding a door open for someone with no response. I challenge these people now at the time to ask why did you not respond to me?
So do I, but half of them totally ignore you even whilst paying. Still I think the rude drivers make you appreciate the polite drivers and I use that maxim everywhere. :)
My dad ran a taxi firm and garage in Wallington. Always expected his drivers to be courteous without question. Another thing was he told the drivers never take any tips from nurses. Shame about the meal and service.
100% right Darren, you're not too old school, everyone should have good manners, I think exactly the same, it's especially bad in London, the one that gets me is when you wait to let someone out of a shop doorway and they just walk past saying nothing
Oh my word Darren that "food" looked absolutely disgusting! Agree with other comments saying that it looked like they reheated it. Nasty. Hope your next outing is more fruitful😂
The Nan is more then likely a frozen nan which after warming up you only have so much time to eat it before it goes hard and nowadays if you are white it would be best to cook your own curries at home.
I appreciate your very honest reviews DJ. That place was cheap but very nasty! I’ve never seen an onion bhaji like that. It looked like a cardboard cutout. Unbelievable.
Just seen this vlog now DJ. Sadly, please and thank you are dying phrases these days. You go somewhere and it's like they are doing you a favour😂 Completely agree with what you say mate. Cheers.
If the food and the company good always say! If it's shit always say! Most of the time food got really bad and seems like no-one cares much these days and we went to a fancy steak restaurant Michelin star in tenerife and that was good but not Michelin standen I don't think!! Great videos !!
Oh dear Darren. That was a bit of a disaster. It’s probably new people who have opened it. And again as you say manners cost nothing. That was my most important with my two kids too that they were brought up with manners and it shows in them as adults. Enjoy the rest of your day! 🥰☀️🥰xxx
Hi there, new to the channel 👍. On the subject of courtesy, I totally agree with you. I walk regularly most mornings, and will always say good morning to people I pass by, some ignore, some smile and say good morning back. Also, I regularly take the bus, there is a sign on the bus saying 'please be kind to your driver' so I always say good morning when I get on the bus, and always say thank you, have a good day when I get off. Again, some drivers respond, some drivers don't even acknowledge you. As you say, manners cost nothing, and saying good morning to people sometimes may just make their day. Anyway, as a first comment, I think this is long enough 😊. Great review by the way, shame about your Onion Biscuit 😮. All the best to you 👍
Hi. I enjoy your videos. I’m half indian and have lived in India for many years. I’ve eaten in many everyday eateries in India and there is no culture of exchanging pleasantries. It’s not seen as rude or necessary by the customers. All they care about is the quality of the food. This culture is the same in Bangladesh and Pakistan, many of whom run Indian restaurants in the uk. Of course the savy owner of an Indian restaurant in the uk should change his customer service in line with the prevailing culture; and many do and become successful. In this cafe, it seems the workers may be newly arrived or uneducated or unwilling to integrate and operate the cafe as if in Mumbai. I feel DJ was genuinely upset by one staff member. This staff member probably was not snubbing you but just acting in a way which would be normal on the Indian subcontinent; it was ignorant behaviour not based on malice but ignorance of British culture. The food looked terrible. If he served that in India, he would be out of business in a week.
Hi DJ me again loving the new complaining videos about time people told it how it is. Anyway was down the big smoke last week & went to one of our favourite go to’s for a light lunch The Brass Rail in the food hall in Selfridges always consistent salt beef sandwich & especially the Reuben are fantastic & reasonably good value for money for West End London be great if you could review it in the near future & give me your opinion 👍🏻
The very first time I saw a vlog from you was where you are in this one. However, the food was delicious and you thoroughly enjoyed it - shame about the person who was with you though. I lived 10 minutes walk from there for 29 years. It used to be a lovely market but as with most others they’re a thing of the past. I thought it was all getting knocked down to build a huge cinema but they (Council?) has run out of money. Manners cost nothing, something I’ve instilled in my son. Some people are just rude and for that alone I wouldn’t go back even if the food was lovely. Blimey I’ve “known” you for 2 years! 🎉
No John me and you were brought up properly. Please and thank you. They shouldnt expect a tip and definatley dont pay for service when you dont get it. There's a place in Chiswick nt & Dec own it "Brasserie" . I've never been so i dont no how expensive it is but the staff imaculate and well mannered. Give it ago.
I have a row of various takeaways very close to where I live and I can honestly say that it is very rare to see a cat for more than two days! Had an ‘Indian’ takeaway where I used to live which had a reputation for being generous with the meat, got visited by food safety and found half an Alsatian, several cats, rats, mice and pigeons in the freezer.
Hi DJ, another good video. the onion bhaji appeared to have spent too much time in the deep fat fryer. The nan bread was not a nan bread, flat bread bought in a local bakery and microwaved. This is not an Indian establishment since they serve beef curry. Having worked in the hospitality business for several years, I find their attitude is simply rude. It is another cash & curry, they won't last long. The ignorance of the other guy could be down to the lack of the English language.
Beggars belief that someone would even consider serving that shoe leather Bhaji. You are quite right that manners are fast disappearing in this day and age
Hi. Got to agree with you about manners. Like you I was raised to say please and thank you. Are we old-fashioned at just 59 or 60 or any of that generation. ????
Manners cost nothing...was brought up saying please and thank you and being respectful. I'm sorry but the bloke probably could not understand English but that's no excuse not to at least smile or give a nod of the head to acknowledge you....and i'm pretty sure everyone knows the word "hello" at least!!! Anyway...glad you gave an honest review x Darren do try and go to the old Criterion in Piccadilly...(was featured in Downton Abby (lol) ...but now it's been turned into an Indian Restaurant called Masala Zone...which seems to be a chain in London unfortunately ..but would be interested in your take on it....i don't like the decor they have done in that lovely old historic building...i think they have ruined it personally...but would love to see you review it x
Good manners in London? Don't be silly! In the past 20yrs I've seen morality, courtesy & unruly behaviour in London sink to damn near the dark ages. I wonder what else has been happening in London in the last 20yrs, & I don't mean just Social Media (Social? Laugh!)??? 🤔🤔🤔
I'm totally agreeing with you Darren, I don't care what kind of day you're having manners and good service cost nothing, they are running a business and it should come automatically to give good service
I can't stand rudeness, even from my customers....but the other way around! Not acceptable. Happens more an more nowadays though, I go for the weekly shop and the majority of people are so rude. Manners do cost nothing. Being nice is surely easier than being rude and horrible. ❤as always pal
Hi Danny Well I agree with you 100% good manners and politeness cost nothing but it appears they were never brought up to do this, well when I lived in London I lived about 10 minutes away from the market from what you showed has all those stalls gone,I remember Maureens that was the Fish and Chip place, Well I agree with you that the Curry Hat food did nor look good and ok you pay for what you get. I dont know when you done that video but when I left london in 2022 they were in the process of closing areas of the market to make it more modern have they started this yet or is this still on the drawing board.
Like you DJ I was brought up to be polite to everyone, give respect and hope to be treated how you would want to be, but unfortunately today's society does not understand basic values, people don't seem to have time for each other any more. We live in a very selfish World!!
Omg. You’re getting a bad run Darren. You have every reason to be dissatisfied. Bad food and bad manners. Now there’s a recipe for a successful business!!! Love your content mate. 👍
I used to eat in an Indian in Glasgow with great food and ambience. It was changed into an almost cafeteria style with no Indian ambience and the onion bahji was nothing resembling my idea of one. Also being a single guy you never get decent service.
Agree a million percent....good manners and polite customer service....unfortunately seems to be a thing of the past.
Such as shame.
Culture change throughout the UK is clear to see to anyone.
Maybe it's you.
Many immigrants don't have manners
That onion bhaji was the most ridiculous thing i have ever seen DJ, should have frisbee'd it back in the shop
Gross food and rude customer service, what isn’t there to like!! Strange,it’s almost like they don’t want to be there, and it’s cash only because they don’t pay taxes most probably
One thing I'll say is cash is king. I won't eat anywhere that doesn't take cash. If they take away cash, this country will be like China.
You got that spot on I brought my three kids up on my own like I was brought up to be respectful and courteous but unfortunately different generation now
This is why I value your reviews. Honesty.
Agree 100% about customer service levels like you I’m Old School costs nothing to be polite and courteous ❤
Oh I wonder why...
@chrisbiggs51- Maybe you should tell him how rude it is,I always call it out, not rudely, but how are they to know if never told.
You are absolutely right. What is wrong with people nowadays? Enjoying your videos. Thank you !
The reason Uber drivers don’t say thank you is because 99 percent of them don’t understand English even though they have supposedly passed a English B1 exam lol righty o ! Love the channel
Darren you are 100% right !! You only get 1 chance to make the 1st impression for sure !! 😊
Chrisp Street market use to be brilliant back in the day. Not a nice place now. Food is hit and miss. That curry place you reviewed I ate there. Ended up with a touch of food poisoning.
That naan looked just like the ones you buy in supermarkets and as for the bhaji biscuit that looked truly horrific.

unfortunately it's society all-over now
what a pity.
If an establishment is going to be discourteous, then they don't really want my money, and they don't deserve it. Plenty of good places to eat out there.
I think I understand what you’re commenting on.
One word. Demographics!
DJ, I agree that people don't give a damn anymore. Rudeness seems to be accepted these days. That food looked awful, nowhere near the charts!
London is one of rudest Cities in the world I wounder why?
We all need to stop accepting rudeness,
You’re bang on Darren. I feel the same way about these things. I think to myself well these people are customers themselves everyday some place or other. Are they okay being treated like this when they’re a customer?
Absolutely especially when Boot's on other Foot for real Homie 🤔👌💯
The worst thing for me DJ is holding a door open for someone and they march through without a thank you.
Happened to me today at least 12 times. No exaggeration.
@@muckle8lovely stuff
Hello brianallan, absolutely agree, I held a door open for a person (a Lady) where I used to work and I got 'I can open a door myself you know' so I just smiled and said, it's the way I was brought up, and I don't apologise for it, have a good day 😊! Y'know, you just can't win sometimes 🙄 !
well done for being more critical, bad places need to be called out
Common courtesy costs nothing, that onion thing wow, £9 as well, thanks for educating us DJ 👍👍
Wow... that onion bhaji looked more like a hockey puck. Indeed Penny
I think that bhaji was an ornamental display one like the wax apple in shops
@@johngibson3837 😂😂😂 it definitely looked like it. That bhaji was terrible!!
It’s the technology. You don’t have to be polite with technology.Yup, you and I are dinosaurs.
Hi Darren the bad manners in this country is shocking like most things today I , agree when you pay for a service you are the boss and should get responsible service for your money not the silent treatment or rudeness 😢you are not alone in your thoughts we are all fed up with this.

I am with you on politeness, even if he dosen't speak English, a smile is internationally recognised. 😊 xx
The barjee and the naan were both leftovers from the night before.
When it comes to a Indian, never be the first customer in queue!
DJ I'm an Uber driver and I always say thank you to the passengers just before they leave the cab, on the flip I often get passengers who jump in and don't say anything and leave also not saying anything slamming my door, btw great honest review 👍🏽
You are not having much luck recently! I remember the first review you did and it was very good then. Keep up the great content.
Onion bhajis are very variable - often they're raw in the middle. And it's such a shame, because it sets a bad tone for the meal.
Keep these honest reviews up mate we need see you out in restaurants again
Stay strong buddy there is still decent well mannered people out there there just harder to find .
Totally agree DJ service & politeness especially in the big cities is going down the tube’s gets right on my wick!

Thank you, appreciate it
Hi mate. I’m probably about in the same age bracket as you, DJ, and I’m always polite to anyone and everyone. That concrete starter with a side of plaster would be returned forthwith 😂😂😂 good honest review ☺️☺️👍🏼
Priceless 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The Joy's of multi culturalism and diversity. 🙏
Totally agree - manners cost nothing 👍 so why have bad ones 🤔
Unbelievable bad manners, they don’t deserve success, hospitality is all, and good manners cost nothing. You took the hit so we don’t have to. Hope you have a better time next review Darren. All best.
I watch all your videos DJ and love them, keep them coming 😊
You're not old, or old school, manners are manners and there are some people who don't have them, or want them.
Thanks Darren. the Chefs are perfect for Royal Caribbean Cruises as I had the same quality. Only blessing is the rice didn't have Lice coming out.

Gr8 vids as always
Darren agree running a business customer service should be 1st class sadly lacking with people who do not care.
100% right Darren, you're not too old school, everyone should have good manners, I think exactly the same, it's especially bad in London, the one that gets me is when you wait to let someone out of a shop doorway and they just walk past saying nothing

If they take your money and knowingly give crap food you need to refuse to pay ,I bet the kitchens were disgusting ,

Good rant daz couldn’t agree more , just goes to show if you don’t put love in the food your making for others it’s shows in the taste!!!
I was eagerly waiting to see what the 'biscuit' was, thinking I've never tried one of those... Jeez... Shocker!
Abysmal food and non existent customer service. As always, a totally honest review. x
Beggars belief that someone would even consider serving that shoe leather Bhaji.
You are quite right that manners are fast disappearing in this day and age
Sometimes even if the food is grand and the service is awful, very unlikely to return
Your spot on mate. Courtesy costs nothing.
Hi. Got to agree with you about manners. Like you I was raised to say please and thank you. Are we old-fashioned at just 59 or 60 or any of that generation. ????
At 10:20 the guy in the back ground is delivering the ingredients for tomrrow's fare. Laxatives included . no charge.
Manners cost nothing, i'm afraid the UK is going down the pan
Good manners in London? Don't be silly! In the past 20yrs I've seen morality, courtesy & unruly behaviour in London sink to damn near the dark ages. I wonder what else has been happening in London in the last 20yrs, & I don't mean just Social Media (Social? Laugh!)??? 🤔🤔🤔
I'm totally agreeing with you Darren, I don't care what kind of day you're having manners and good service cost nothing, they are running a business and it should come automatically to give good service
Couldnt agree more
Love to see a food program that challenged poor food and let us know how the food outlet/restaurant in question responded.
Manner’s cost nothing & the food looked yucky 🤢 Thanks for sharing your review DJ 😊👍
Unfortunately times are changing and there are a lot of these sad acts around. Always like honesty.
I'm glad you put it up as that helps others swerve past those establishments?none of it looked appetising 👍
I can't stand rudeness, even from my customers....but the other way around! Not acceptable. Happens more an more nowadays though, I go for the weekly shop and the majority of people are so rude. Manners do cost nothing. Being nice is surely easier than being rude and horrible. ❤as always pal
Hi Danny Well I agree with you 100% good manners and politeness cost nothing but it appears they were never brought up to do this, well when I lived in London I lived about 10 minutes away from the market from what you showed has all those stalls gone,I remember Maureens that was the Fish and Chip place,
Well I agree with you that the Curry Hat food did nor look good and ok you pay for what you get.
I dont know when you done that video but when I left london in 2022 they were in the process of closing areas of the market to make it more modern have they started this yet or is this still on the drawing board.
Totally agree with how its become mate, the ignorance of some of these people is a joke ,!
Keep it honest. Great video.
To be fair for the price that food didn't look too bad. I agree 100% about the manners thing, it something that really grinds my gears as well.
Was that onion bhaji an old ice hockey puck left over from 2012 games .
