Loved your video! Very informative, I’m a practical nurse in Canada and I’m debating about taking nephrology nursing, however, after watching this, I think I’m decided now, I will pursue dialysis nursing. Very detailed video keep it up. 👍❤️😃

I was told by my vascular nurse to untie the touniquet before flushing with saline which makes sense.

Hi Mrs. Marta, i see you conect the artery needle in the same blood flow directions from artery. and the vein needle same way. i see other video were a nurse conect the artery needle against the artery flow, to get better flow presure in the needle and line. wich the best technic?

Hi. Yes, the arterial needle could go in an antegrade or retrograde position. This is in the direction of the flow or against. It depends on your patient. We do use the arterial needle in retrograde (going against artery flow) with some patients that have problems with low arterial flow pressure. Otherwise, it is ok to use in antegrade direction (direction of the flow). Hope this helps.

Overall it's a satisfactory video but all that stuff about PPE & infection control is really unnecessary for this video. A quick mention is enough. The video is way too long. I skipped all the way to the actual cannulation which is the main reason I'm looking at this video. I want to get better at cannulating. There are some fístulas which are difficult to access. Thanks

Thank you for your comment, but this video was created for my students and for people that are starting. In that case, the demonstration is perfect.
