I have a 2012 MBZ C300. Do you have any extra tips on how to position the wiring so that I can push back the control module? It seems that the wiring is preventing the unit to fully go back in.

No, both can be used for peripheral devices such as flash disks (for storing mp3, mp4, etc.), but only one USB port is pre-marked (usually the direct USB port from the screen) can be used to connect CarPlay/Android Auto. This USB port can be used to upgrade firmware, change the boot screen, and install apk files from external sources. The other USB port cannot perform these functions.
