Now there’s a confident man, draining the oil before undoing the fill plug. I did it once……😂😂

Confident is one way of describing it 😂

Almost as bad as draining the oil out of the engine in your daily transport at 7pm and then discovering you don't have enough of the right type left to even wet the dipstick.
At least it was only 40 miles around via the nearest supplier of oil, rather than trying to fill a gearbox through the drain plug...

Dumpit is lot more of driver's car than most what's sold these days..

Awesome! I've got a dumpit which looks identical to Dumpit Prime but mine is a 2000 year. Got it cheap as an MOT fail and fixing it up. These videos will no doubt be useful to me, in addition to me loving your videos anyway.
Folks - if you've never experienced a 106, even the basic ones like dumpit, you've missed out.

Most important thing to be wary of is rust, without a doubt.

@@UPnDOWN Mine's somehow quite clean underneath, for it's age. I'll be getting under it and hopefully treating what rust is there over time. I can't believe it's almost 25 years old. They'll always be timeless in my eyes

Good work - so glad Dumpit's stick is no longer loose and floppy. Doubtless all of that lubricant will enhance the user experience too.
I'm sure the missing gearbox filler plug magnet will be safely stuck inside the gearbox somewhere...

@@iainmacrae6982 My Peugeot Expert is like that on purpose - there's no fill plug. It has to be drained then refilled with 1.9 litres of 75W90 via the breather on the top, which takes bloody ages.

Yep correct. In the more common ML gearbox's, incorrect gearbox oil makes the gearchanges absolutely horrible. Crunchy and impossible to get 1st when cold. Bought a pug on the cheap from a dealer because DMF/Clutch was replaced but gearbox was crunchy. Replaced the gearbox oil on a whim... took a couple hundred miles and now it's silky smooth... until 100k miles later when it needed a change!

Getting the drain plug off first without checking the filler one comes undone beforehand can leave you with an empty gearbox you then cannot get refilled. Had this with my early Range Rover, a 20minute job ended up with a dead car blocking up the drive for a couple of days until I eventually managed to get the filler undone.

You could have these plastic bushings 3D-printed. Or better, have a machinist turn them in bronze?
about the MIC. Maybe try a Bluetooth connected MIC? I use a Comset on my motorbike for handsfree phonecalls and it works exactly like that and is pretty reliable.
