  • This video focuses on how to convert units with scientific notation. I work through three examples involving converting from one unit of measurement to another. Some of the units involved in this video involve picometers, centimeters, nanometers, etc.

    So helpful. Helped me learn in 5 minutes what I was not taught in 4 months by my chem teacher. Thank you!

      Glad it helped! This is a tricky topic to teach! Sometimes you just have to see another approach.

    this was really helpful, our teacher didn’t explain the process and thus most of our class got confused, ty

      I am glad you were able to learn from the video! This is definitely a tricky concept to teach. You need strong math for science, especially in physics and chemistry!

    Thanks a lot 💖
    I forgot the scientific notation method after not using it from a lot of time haha.
    I guess you gotta revise this stuff from time to time 😁

      You're welcome 😊
      It is very easy to forget the techniques when you do not use them for a while. If I had to take one of my old college math finals, I do not think I would be able to remember much!
      Thanks for supporting the channel.

    I am confused, the last one. Why is the answer 10 to the 16th power and not 10 to the negative 8th?

    • @vinteachesmath
      @vinteachesmath  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We are dividing 10^4 / 10^-12, so we use the algebraic property a^b / a^c = a^ b - c. Your answer would be correct if you were multiplying 10^4 x 10^ - 12, then you would add the exponents to get 10 ^ -8. (Note: a^b x a^c = a^ b + c)

    See im confused. In number 2 how did you get 10^-2?

    • @vinteachesmath
      @vinteachesmath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      .053 = 5.3×10^-2
      I converted the original number to scientific notation. Also the prefix for centi is c which equals 10^-2

      he changed it into scientific notation and when you move to the right to get the s.n the power is negative!

      @@V_ennmath but when he converted 60 to micro, it became 6 x 10¹, but for 0.053 m, it became 5.3 x 10-². How came it became negative?

    This helps but how would I do this with exponents on the units of measurement like km^2 to mm^2 or mm^3 to m^3?

    • @vinteachesmath
      @vinteachesmath  ปีที่แล้ว

      You would need to square the whole conversion, for example 1 ft ^2 = (12in)^2 = 12 in x 12 in = 144 in^2

    Thankssss so much but what if its 25km/h to m/s? Is the process the same?

    • @vinteachesmath
      @vinteachesmath  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it is the same concept! You would also need to convert hrs to seconds using the fact that 1 hr = 60 min and 1 min = 60 sec.
