The only problem I have had with the Hudson was a squeak which turned out to be the rear breaks slightly rubbing against the rear drive wheels with traction tires. The breaks are attached with a single screw, so all you have to do is adjust them or at worst remove the break and add a tiny washer or gasket material to increase the gap between the break and wheel. The 700e Hudson has been perfect other than that and is probably the best running and sounding engine I have. You should get one!

Thanks again for your reply. I did view railroadtrip445's video on the problems he was having with his hudson. For a expensive top of the line lionel vision line hudson, or other vision line engines, i have to seriously consider his comments , & your's earlier to decide to purchase , or not.

@byates59 i totally agree about the vision features!!! the best on the market today!!! and nothing comes close to Lionel! did you try the auto feature yet? its very simple to do! just hold the AUX1 button after start up and as you start to move the engine it goes through all the vision features automatically!!!! give it a try!!!!!

Hi. I decided to purchase the hudson. The engine is hard to get now, however i was able to locate a dealer that is expecting one to arrive soon. He will notify me when it arrives..I expect it will be a while before i will receive it ! Your challenger must be quite heavey ?

Glad YOUR smoke unit works...mine goes out after about 5 minutes of running...had it fixed about six times...out again and not fixing it. Hope yours stays running OK.

Just got my 700E back from Lionel Repair. The marker lights required rewiring and smoke unit and fan replaced for the 4th time. Hopefully this will solve the problems I've had. I really like this model Hudson but it's been much more malevolent than my other Legacy Engines. I will run it on commuter service for awhile before returning it to longer passenger runs...lol
The only friend that I know that had problems with his 700e is Matt youtube name Railroadtrip445. He had several issues with his Hudson, but finally got them resolved after a few trips to Lionel service. Hopefully, if you buy one you won't have any problems, but if you do Lionel service is pretty good about fixing the problem and getting it back to you quickly. The Hudson is a great engine with stellar features and has super smooth low speed operation like nobody else in the business!!!!

Hi Bill. I'm saving for a Conventional Classic (postwar reproduction with same motor and drive) 4-6-4 Hudson. This Model is great.
