    From 1986 - 1995 (10 year span) the NFC EAST won the Super Bowl 7 of those years. The other 3 was the 49ers. Talk about dominance!!

    • @lizardof78
      @lizardof78 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That dominance extends to the NFC as a whole, SF '84, CHI '85, GB '96.

    That blocked punt by Ike Holt started it all, at least that's how I felt. I vividly remember watching this game.

      I know right! That’s the play that moved them to the next level. They got their feet wet in 1991. And then this game opening up against Washington I remember clearly Monday night Ine Holt blocked that punt and the rest is history! And remember blowing the giants out the next week, it was like 34-0 and they almost came back to beat us! But we held on we were a young great team.

    I’m a Giants fan, but man, the Cowboys had some great all time teams in the 90s. Hated them with a passion, but can’t deny their talent.

      Yes but years later the Giants beat Tom Brady, twice, in SBs. The Giants have had some good teams too. And I'm a Dallas fan.

      Classy.

    • @comfortat
      @comfortat ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's how us Cowboys felt when the Giants had LT and his group of Mad Dogs.
      You guys had to deal with 3 other great teams in the 90's, the Redskins, 49ers and Bears, just to get to the SB. And the NFC East was a rough division to win, as well. The Eagles and Cowboys were good teams through the first half of the 80's.

    • @JR-pp3ed
      @JR-pp3ed ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 07/11 Giants got revenge by knocking the Cowboys out of Playoffs and Winning SuperBowls. It sucked but every team has their time eventually

    • @comfortat
      @comfortat ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JR-pp3ed NFC East rivalries were the best in football. Almost every year, you had to beat a great NFC East team if you're going to win a championship, especially before 1996.
      The 70's Cowboys
      The '80 Eagles
      The rest of the 80's through 95, you had the Redskins, Giants and Cowboys in your way. The Eagles had some good teams during that time period, too.
      Call me old, but that 25 year period was the golden age of the NFL.

    This game showed how Charles Haley would be an integral part of the defense. It showed it on the first two drives and it also showed as the season went on, he was the final piece of the puzzle for the Cowboys to make a Super Bowl run.

    • @bosskey7212
      @bosskey7212 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Haley definitely changed the entire complexity of how the defense was called and style they played, you can see even in this game with 2 DT starters out they still played a hyper aggressive game and they were young and fast. They really turned the corner when Haley arrived

    Redskins-Cowboys, Week 1 in 1992.
    I have fond memories of that game, living in the Dallas area and just starting my 5th grade year. The game was one of the most anticipated events in the area in YEARS, and the noise level at Texas Stadium was nothing like I ever heard before. When I think about the previous three years...?
    1989: 1-15 (Jimmy Johnson's first year coaching; Jerry JOnes' first year as new owner)
    1990: 7-9 (Jimmy earns Coach of the Year honors)
    1991: 11-5 (Wild Card spot)
    With the talent they signed and/or drafted, this was a Cowboys team that was gonna be special to watch.

      This was the first NFL game that I vividly remember. I had just become old enough to really understand the game. I didn't see the game at the stadium, but my family all gathered at my grandparent's house to watch this. After seeing the impressive win, my 8 year old self proclaimed that "The Cowboys are going to win the Super Bowl." Of course they all laughed and thought it was cute. Just 4 months later, Jimmy is in the locker room at SF saying "how bout them Cowboys!" A magical time to be a Cowboy fan.

    I was at this game. The blocked punt on the first Redskin drive was the loudest I had ever heard Texas Stadium in my entire life. I had been to dozens of games through the 80s. The change...the beginning of a dynasty...you could feel it. It gave me chills at the time and I will never forget it. The Redskins had not practiced a silent count for this game because the Stadium had been a funeral parlor for the last 6 or 7 seasons. The crowd noise at this game was a rude awakening for them.

      3 Dyntastys collided. Although the Giants only won 2 but the end of Redskins and Giants Dynasty ended as a new cowboys dynasty formed. The NFC East was stacked for a while there, from 1984 to 1994 the NFC East was one tough division.

    The video cut off at the end just as the regional college football games of September 12 were about to be plugged.
    The first game shown was Texas at Syracuse, a game which no doubt interested many Cowboys fans as they are another in-state team. Also airing on ABC that day was Bowling Green at Ohio State (then as now, MAC appearances on ABC are rare), Missouri at Illinois (a rivalry which would be played in St. Louis numerous times in the early 21st century), Oregon at Stanford, and Tennessee at Georgia.

I never made it to a game in Texas Stadium but several years ago I went to the Notre Dame vs Arizona State game in the current stadium. Is the jumbotron nice? Oh yeh. But the two best surprises were how clean the restrooms were (I had been to the Astrodome a few times so my expectations were low) and how good the hotdogs were.

    Dallas finally got there team built to SB Champs specs ! The 91 Wash team would get destroyed by the most underrated team in NFL History the 92 & 93 Cowboys !
    The most overrated NFL Team ever was the 91 Redskins team ! If they would of had to play Dallas a 3rd time in the 92 playoffs ! Dallas would of beat them & win 3 straight vs Buff in SB !
    The reason I can say the 91 Redskins was overated is. They never did anything more off that team ! If that team was so great where was they the next 10 years especially the next 5 ?

    • @Pksoze
      @Pksoze ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn't say the 90s Cowboys were underrated...maybe overshadowed by their off field antics but everybody who saw them knew they were good.
      The 91 Redskins are overrated though...I can't believe some insane people are calling them the greatest team in football history. Are they serious? This is basically the same roster that won the SB in 91 and you can see Dallas is just way more talented.
      Though you have to remember the 91 team was the end not the beginning of their run. This is a team that had been good since the 80s...the Cowboys were on the way up and the Skins on their way down.

      The 1982-,84 redskins would have
      Beat any cowboys team 50 years a Redskins fan respect the great cowboys teams everyone thinks the 1991 redskins we're the best a great team but I have seen every redskin cowboys games and teams I actually think the 1977 cowboys was there best team

      @@christophermarston4491 83 Redskins got destroyed by the Raiders. The 82 Redksins struggled to beat the Gary Hogeboom Cowboys.

      The '91 Redskins went 14-2, scored the most points in the NFL (and one of the highest point totals in history) and allowed the second fewest points in the NFL (including three shutouts). Then won three playoff games by an average of more than 20 points. You seem to forget what the Redskins did in the decade prior - three previous Super Bowls and two wins. The '91 team, while a juggernaut, was basically the end of that run while Dallas was ascending. By '96 the Cowboys of that era were starting their downhill slide.

    It's hard for me to say the 91 Redskins were the greatest team ever when basically the same roster as the sb winning team gets curbstomped a few months later.

      Same? All I read in the preseason was how much better they were with the addition of Heisman winner Desmond Howard

      It's called a Super Bowl hangover.. we went 9-7 and still made it to the second round of the playoffs. Dallas lucky Gibbs quit because we woulda probably been right back in the mix in a year or two, it is what it is...

      @@NoBullsh_tDallas had no Superbowl hangover after 92 and 93. Joe Gibbs knew his time was over. Oh yeah, how did he do in the 2000s? Sucked.

    After a decade of excellence 1992 would mark the beginning of perennial mediocrity for the Redskins/Football Team/Commanders. Who knows we're they might be playing in a couple years. After Dan Snyder did the unthinkable and changed the team name I am not sure most people really care. It's too bad as some of the teams most ardent fans are Native Americans. The team logo was created by a Native American.

    This was a real nice screw-you from the NFL to Washington. Oh you won the Super Bowl with your best team ever last year? Yeah go play the Cowboys at their place on Monday night. Good luck with all that.
