@starwindamada5313 I mean that's a mega nitpick. And also you could make an argument his name is Doctor Who based on the all-knowing computer in The War Machines so like let the commenter have it.
@@starwindamada5313To be honest, I used to be one of those people who would say "Dr. Who isnt his real name, you don't know what you are talking about" but when I grew up, I realised that firstly it's annoying and frustrating for myself and others to nitpick, but also it's so much fun to call him Dr. Who. It's like his Superhero name. Like the Doctor is his actual name whilst Dr. Who is the superhero name, or if we wanna get really nerdy, Dr. Mysterio. Capaldi just proves that it's so much fun to say Dr. Who.
The whistle scene REALLY should've been kept especially since because of it being removed there's a continuity issue where the Doctor suddenly doesn't have the whistle anymore.
In the episode it cuts to the time vortex so it appears as if he put the whistle away off screen, so I’d say continuity is still fine but the scene would’ve been cool and it should’ve been included on physical media along with these other deleted scenes.
@@Dano_116 Yeah I know but it still causes a continuity issue since we never see him take it off. I just think this scene should've been included in some form at least
I think the issue with the scene is probably that it cuts the tension of them dragging Sutekh behind them. I'd assume that is why it was cut out. Still, I'd rather the explanation was there, even if it had to be reshot to fit after Sutekh is killed.
the whistle scene adds a lot tbh, makes the finale more clear and gives the doctor a good clever timey wimey moment that i've seen other people complain about ncuti's so far lack of
The "Time is flooding back" scene should have been kept due to how it calls back to the window shots during Ruby's piano playing and gives more of an explicit explanation to the musical ending. The whistle scene also should have been kept in, adds a time travel element to the finale that just seems very Doctor who-y and makes the whistle more believable as a threat against Sutekh. Though I wonder if "There's Always a Twist" was a placeholder or if it's actually meant to be on the jukebox lol
THAT whistle scene just made the Empire of Death so much better, it helped actually make sense of the episode.. the doctor didn't just drag a dog through the vortex.. it was TIMEY WIMEY! RE-EDIT ADD IT BACK IN AND PUT THIS VERSION EVERYWHERE!
@@aaronvasseur6559 Not just about the whistle.. it explains why the whistle was important in the first place.. what he done to the whistle and why it works.. now being able to control the tardis with a random whistle aint so random now...
The whistle scene and the explanation for the musical ending should totally have stayed in, they make each story make more sense. And Donna demanding her family be protected? Of course she damn well would!
And it also adds more depth and insight into the friendship between Ruby and the Doctor - and that last kick at the end calling the Doctor rude is such great characterization!
Gosh if ever there were scenes that were badly needed in an episode, the two short ones that explain why everyone is about to break into song and break the fourth wall at the end would have been nice!
I think I actually prefer the footage before its colour corrected, that deleted scene with Maistro on the roof looks visually better IMO. Also, why wasn't the whistle scene kept in? Even Bonnie Langford thought it should have stayed in the episodes Commentary.
I know doctor who’s always been like this but 40-50% of these should’ve stayed especially the first giggle one, devils chord stairs one and the 2 73 yards ones
I agree they definitely should've kept the whistle scene, but if they were actually planning to play "There's Always a Twist" overtop the climax of that episode... they were right to drop that idea.
it could be that they had that there as a placeholder before they went & licensed another song (like the Bowie in the trailer) but I do prefer to think that "There's Always A Twist at The End (ft. The Beatles & Cilla Black)" was the epic music over the whole leash thing.
They actually were planning that. The Doctor would even end his ‘death to death’ speech by saying ‘there’s always a twist at the end’. I’ve just read the script
I felt like a lot of the scenes should have been kept in. I think the only one I was okay with being left out was 14 and Donna in the halls of the giggle but most of the scenes were good, address mild plot holes, or showed more character development especially between 15 and Ruby which I think a lot of use were missing.
TBH could take the deleted scenes and add them to the Disney+/BBC One uploads (obvs editing with music to make them fit better) as they do add a lot of missing context to some of the episodes and can be inserted pretty fine for the most part, especially Empire Of Death's and the Whistle Explanation (at least if you cut out the "always a twist at the end" part as it sort of thematically clashes with The Doctor's stand against Sutekh bit)
@aaronvasseur6559 most of the scenes showed more interaction between the doctor and ruby and it would've been nice to see more of that to feel more connected to the characters like in the earlier series
Are we serious about the last clip.?? That definitely should have been in the episode. It’s a pivotal moment that tied the whole whistle thing together. And It’s clever on the Doctor behalf 😭 I wanna know who’s responsible. 😂 come on guys.
These are all really great and I actually think a lot of them wouldve been awesome to be included. Even still, great job Doctor Who can't wait for the next episode love heart
Yup. Maybe one day they will re-edit this season so the narrative makes better sense. Put that whistle back in for a start. It's almost as if whoever cut these scenes didn't actually understand the story in the first place. ( they only had to watch either Ecclestons first season for an approximation or understand the script)
Imo the Deleted scenes from space babies would have helped that episode a little bit more, i see no reason why they couldnt add any of the good deleted scenes to iplayer right now.
All of these should’ve been in their respective episodes, it’s a streaming first show now, include them on the streaming platforms. If you have to edit it down for the tv then do so, but we need the full story
Im sorry....but whoever is in the department of chosing which scenes to cut should absolutely be fired...This is a lesson Doctor Who that if a scene affects the plot in terms of explaining something unexplainable, or helping continuity dont delete it lol! That whistle scene makes empire of death 10x better from a 2 minute scene lol, just cut out the filler and put that back in and suddenly the episode is good again! Cmon Doctor Who you're better than this....i dont wanna hate but i mean cmon why would u cut that scene?!?!?
Does anyone else think that "The Mother, Father and Other" from the harbingers speech was meant to be a Lungbarrow reference? Three "creators", of a person/of a planet, two in traditional roles, and an outlier named The Other?
The Devil's Chord!! Of course it should have been kept in - if you want to have a musical at least give an explanation as to why...! If only for form's sake... I didn't think a show like this could suffer from bad editing...
Well some scenes are deleted for a reason, so the Memory Tardis dying isnt Canon for me. Since RTD said Tales is Canon, it makes more sense that the Memory Tardis dissapered and thats how Tales exists.
The Space babies scene seemed like something out of Alien. I love me more doctor who. Here's hoping these also get released physically Also love the Cassandra reference. Moisturise me
Thank you. Thank you so much! My favourite deleted scenes are from The Giggle (0:00), The Devil's Chord (4:254:38), 73 Yards (4:536:13), and Empire of Death (7:318:44) - which should've all been kept in!
The whistle scene really should've been kept imo.
Too true, most of these scenes are lovely
Honestly, I thought it was really funny (despite its cheesiness).
it's very important to the plot but him playing "there's always a twist" feels like a joke. I didn't think empire of death could be worse
Yeah that is a massive oversight. Along with the 1 trick once and song 😂
Series 14 was really messy at times I wish some of these scenes stayed it would've helped a lot
