Hope everyone is happy and healthy. I hope you'll enjoy a little escape from the stress of the world and draw something today (maybe even a three-legged mermaid!). 💜
oh also, you have my full permission to yell at me for forgetting the pen is erasable until the last possible second. XP AND also for thinking my purple Daruma was purity when that was the white one....the word 'White' has a big purple stroke on it so my brain told me it said purple. I can't even with how stupid that was...

As a kid I kept stuff like stickers for bigger occasions. Instead of using them even though I wanted to. Of course the age came when they were too kiddish and old fashioned even... so I never used them... Lessons to learn...

My cousin and I were exchanging drawing references yesterday, and I showed her one of your doodleys Rin. (Not realizing Blubby the Blub fish had made a cameo in the sketch.) Naturally, that was the first thing my cousin noticed. I say we slap a blub fish on a t-shirt, pitch the latest and greatest clothing line to potential investors, and market this thing! I don't know if you'll ever see this, but I wanted to say thank you.
Last year was my first year of high school, and since I'd always adored art I decided to take the art 2 class (i had to submit a portfolio and get in). I got in and was extremely excited, and then my teacher was... well, really mwan. She seemed to hate me for some reason and almost moved me back to the lower level class. Now I know it sounds like she was just criticizing my art but it was more than that. She gave me really low grades for things I thought I did well on, made comments on how bad it was, etc.
Anyway, I had decided I wasn't good at art. I didn't take art this year (for literally the first time in my life) and kind of stopped drawing. I knew I loved art but didn't have any motovation, didn't think I was good at it, so I ignored it.
And then, one day, your drawing candy as people video showed up in my recommended. I had heard of you before (I watch superraedizzle and my friend is a fan of yours) but hadn't really checked out your videos. I watched that video and was amazed by your simple yet amazing art style. Soon I binged tons of your videos and got on an amazing drawing kick. I was really inspired by the way you keep your sketchbooks with imperfections and all, and how in one of your videos you mentioned you hadn't really taken art classes. (That helped me realize that maybe my dream of architecture wasn't down the drain after all)
Basically, your videos helped me get out of my art slump and have tons of creativity and ideas again.
So thank you so much! I love your videos and look forward to them every week! I'm subbed on my other account :)

I started sketching in pen too! Usually in pencil im like constantly second guessing everything, so doing warm ups in pen helps me to trust myself and it really shows in my art

When you sharpened the pencil and then lightly rubbed it on your finger it brought me back to 1st-4th grade when i had the pencil sharpening job and i sharpened every pencil in the room (roughly 50 pencils) every single morning and was mesmerized by the dust left over on the pencil 😂😂

I can recommend the Pentel twist erase click mechanical pencils. They have bigger, refillable erasers. I have a blue and a red one and I fill them with erasable lead of the corresponding colour. I use them all the time for sketching and they're great (and not expensive).
I love all of these precious Amabie babies!! They all turned out so cute! I live in Japan and I collect little Amabie trinkets, so I was so SO excited when you started drawing her! Adorable!

My favorite part of the erasable pens are watching people try to open them. They never know if it clicks at the end or like the grip twists. It takes them a while to figure out how they work. It fun watching them struggle.

Ok I need to rant a second. As someone who speaks as their second fluent language, it REALLY bothers me when people pronounce mauve as M-ah-ve. It's the french word for purple, which is pronounced M-oh-ve. I understand that not everyone speaks French, but when I heard my step-mom, who LIVED IN QUEBEC AS A CHILD AND KNOWS (albeit limited) FRENCH, say m-ah-ve and not m-oh-ve, I snapped a little. So please, to anyone this could help. It's probounced m-oh-ve.

I just wanted to make it a public service announcement kinda deal. That said, I do appreciate your looking into it ♡. That said, even pronounciation websites will get it wrong because they just go by what they hear others say and not the actual history and etymology of the word.

While "mohve" is certainly the correct French and Canadian pronunciation and an accepted American pronunciation (as well as the one I use), "mahve" has been in use in America since at least the 1940s and was standardized as an accepted pronunciation in Merriam-Webster's 1964 edition. It's actually the more common American pronunciation! Languages evolve, especially as they borrow words from each other, and vowel shifts are the most common change in borrowed words. Similarly, we pronounce margarine "marjar-ihn"," not "marjar-een." So, not wrong, just different! 😉💕
