The challenges presented by the misleading title and the comments tell the story. Many commenting are not musicians and seem to not understand what reggae is especially when presented and performed live... that being said, they're entitled to their opinions.. One other thing to note is the originators and creators of the genre are seldomly recognized or consulted... lol today everyone has the 'freedom' of expression ... which in and of itself tells a story... more importantly the message of the song should be understood and spread.. One love from the Caribbean!

Jamming at a Jamaican bar in NY, the vocalist said to me "sit 'pon it (on the groove) for 20 minutes and no fills" and said to the audience "dubwise" (bass and drums with toasting vocals). This drummer probably plays Gospel on Sundays. Or it's African style. Great skills.

Solid chops. “Best”- nah- no one is truly so egoic ally worthy of such claim to title imho- no one. No one of wise measure would infer it either imo, b/c we all have our own unique views, interests, expressions and artistic approaches and abilities.
Imo- this drummer has great drumming chops and hits “reggae” pocket approach but might be worthy to consider RESTRAINT here. I don’t know. His fellow players on stage during composition could give better feedback. I’d say, back it down a scotch and let those sweet chops and dynamics fit the musical journey. Great chops too often used become like word salad. One of my greatest weaknesses imho to self- is over-playing. Still an issue with me. Plus, notice here- why is no one in audience dancing here. Darn it- get those people a drink and chill that stiff table talk into dance 👣🎵💚. Drum on brothers and sisters. 🌟

Honestly, I can't enjoy the music....the constant rolls are annoying asf. It's like having a conversations and somebody just keeps interrupting you every fuvking sec. That's a good comparison. I'm not saying that he can't roll or insert drum fills but play them to serve the music. Whether that is too emphasise certain phases or words, hint when the verse or chorus is coming in etc. Less is more depending on the type of music or genre of music.
Some of you might assume I'm saying "less is more" because I'm not on his level or can't play drum fills at all but let me inform you, it's not that. I'm speaking from the perspective of a listener or audience in relations to how the music is sound overall. Reggae music is a soothing, relaxed type of music. It's not like heavy metal music where there's a lot going on, jazz is also chill, soothing groovy. Too much going on the drums can kill the overall vibe of the music all together..

In most reggae shows or performance you may have a separate drummer playing the rolls and fills with a timbale. But the main drummer will continue with a steady groove and not playing rolls and fills in every bar. This is a 4/4 time signature song and doesn't need so much rolls and fills. Reggae is all about keeping a clean steady groove.

Defininately talented drummer but a bit too busy. Pick your moments and play to the song. You dont have to be the star of every part of every song. That being said great job otherwise! This is a young man who may not yet realize how much he shines when not trying to shine so hard. I enjoyed his performance for that as well as his drumming. Hes making his way and doing very well, lets not be too hard on him for coming up while he matures.. I give the guy real respect, hes very good 👍

A bit heavy on the hands.
    Carlton Barrett is the best.

Wow! Lots of negative comments here.
I think he's a great Drummer and playing his own Vibe to what he feels.
    That's still allowed, isn't it?
I was in Jamaica a few months ago and watching some of the Drummers there? Was really no difference.
I can appreciate his vibe and how he plays.
