I live in NYC and I go often to Yoseka. It is a wonderful store. The people there are super nice and they love to talk to their customers. In the last few years I bought a Kaweko Sport, a Lamy 2000, a Sailor Kure Azure, a few TWSBIs and a Pilot Custom 823 from them. Also all the pens they carry are on display and inked for customers to try. If ever in NY, you must visit them. Finally, I had so much fun watching your video. I can feel your excitement in your giggles and laughs. 😂
Love love loved watching this! Thank you so much for sharing this on your amazing channel! So relaxing to watch you create something beautiful so casually. How inspiring!
I always enjoy all your content but this one so far is my favorite. The view of your clothing, your table, and that gorgeous rug and burgundy floor. I am here for all of it, I hope this is not the only type of video you bring us of this type of content! Thank you for sharing!
I love Yoseka. I’m fortunate that they are in NYC (Brooklyn) so I go there in person to purchase and pick up products. They are some of the nicest, friendliest people. Always pleasant and helpful. Real gems. If you’re ever in town to visit them, please be sure to let me know, Alicia. I mentioned you to Ashley ( lovely girl) when she and I were talking about Kaweco brass sport pens. What a coincidence that you made a video about them.
This video felt so natural and relaxing, and the impromptu collage turned out amazing! ✨ I like the idea of not pressuring yourself to make it too pretty, so long as it works and fills up part of the page. I'll try and do that. I sometimes don't journal because the fact that i don't have a "vision" for a collage gives me anxiety 😑
Oh man, the pressure can be really stifling! It is nice to be able to create and write without that and let go of this idea of it needing to look a certain way. That can be hard for me too. But, it helps knowing that most of what I do in a journal is never seen by anyone else! So, "dance like no one's watching," or should I say, Journal like no one's watching. ;)
@@adventuredenali you're absolutely right! I need to remind myself that this is for me, lots of personal stuff on that journal! 😅 You and your content have really helped me put more down on the page than i used to. Helps with my mental health. So thank you ☺️
I LOVE Yoseka! My daughter and I order from them literally every month! We also stick our beloved little notes from Daisy, Neil, & the Yosekans in our journals, with samples and a photo of our hauls!
Yay for Yoseka! Back in October I had just 5 hours in NYC (had not been there for 20 years)...and my #1 destination was Yoseka. I can say it was so worth it and I met Daisy who was just as nice as you'd hope. I only wish I had more time there and realized earlier that they are okay with you trying all the inks! I did not know you can swatch ALL the bottles of ink they have sitting out. Luckily I brought my Hobo Weeks and got to play a bit, and walked out very happily with a lighter wallet. So if you go there, plan to spend some serious time and watch their video from last summer about the other cool places in their neighborhood. :)
Oh that sounds like a dream!!! I saw that video, it’s so great! I have a friend that live in their neighborhood too, so really my only excuse for not going is funds, haha. But it’s got to happen!!
I was in New York City last weekend and unintentionally walked by the store. I was with friends who aren't interested in stationery so I didn't stop. Probably better for me since I didn't have any money to spend!
What fun! Visual journaling w/ ephemera flotsam and jetsam is something I love to do. So enjoyable to watch you unbox these lovely stationery things and create a momento of the experience. ✂️✍️✨
This was so fun! Love the end result. 💗Yoseka’s customer service and personal touch is really something special. You’re right, I enjoy supporting their business because it feels like supporting friends. Thank you for sharing!
Love it. This is precisely what I do when I get new things to play with; very relaxing. Love the cactus on the front of your notebook. I have some of my Grandad’s National Geographics; one had fallen apart (from the 1930s), and I found an excellent set of photos from Nevada. They are now in my journal as a word/photo collage, and I think of him and your collages every time I flip to it. Such fun!
It was really relaxing! I've never considered doing something like that. It was so much fun,. Oh your National Geographics would be wonderful to collage with! That is a treasure to have.
I totally understand all your reactions to this--delighting their customers at every turn. I watched a Yoseka video Daisy did with Miwa Neishi (who is a remarkable artist working in ceramics) highlighting what was in her pen case. The whole of it was so compelling I soon found myself (successfully) on the hunt to buy a few of Miwa's works which I found to be "visually tactile". They can be felt with the eyes and fingertips. This was a great video. And a bit of fresh air from the sad, grimful reportage of Russia's attacks on Ukraine. Thank you.
That collage turned out so pretty and your video was such a relaxing watch as I am really stressed out atm over here in Central Europe with these uncertain times...
Oh man, speaking of stickers in journals, I have two stickers books that I use sooo often in my journals when I don’t have a random sticker that fits what I want. They are the same company, The Antiquarian and Bibliophilia. The each have 1,000 Victorian art stickers that are sooo varied. And they have another one coming out in September and I’m so happy. Just a suggestion to help save costs when it comes to stickers and also if you like having varied stickers.
I loved every second of this! The joy and all the crinkly goodness! I can’t help but collage when it’s a yoseka day too 🤣 they always write such sweet notes 🥺
Ahh so relaxing. I used to do collages but i got overwhelmed with all the stickers. But now I want to do collages again. Because this days I kinda lost words to write. And my husband just got Covid so I don't know if I can write for 6 days ahead. You're great, Alicia. I hope you enjoy them more.
That was great fun to watch! I feel another Yoseka order coming on...and by the way, the little card is not for swatching. It's to record your ink sample purchases. When you hit ten you can send the little bottles back to Yoseka ( assuming you use up the ink or decant it) and you get something...a free ink sample maybe? I can't recall. It takes me forever to empty the sample bottles so I've never shipped them back.
OK, I just looked. Should have done that first! When you reach your 10th ink sample color, Yoseka sends you a box and a return label and you can send the empty bottles back. Then you get a free ink sample. This program is described on the web pages where they sell ink samples. I just love the curated collection they sent! I need to find those cards with the typewriters, because I love typewriters too.
How does one cut down a notebook? I just purchased a Pilot Custom 823 and I’m absolutely in love! I’m thinking of buying a regular sized travelers notebook (Midori size) and cutting down a Hobonichi to have the nice paper without having to use inserts. Been writing in my Leuchtturm 1917 in my A5 Chic Sparrow and as much as I love it, it feels intimidating to write in the A5 size and it’s uncomfortable to write in with other inserts. I think a regular TN size with a cutdown notebook would work quite nicely.
I bet they have a traveler’s note size for their notebooks, so you wouldn’t have to cut down the A5. I might try collaging in my journals. I haven’t done much; maybe use washi tape borders, or tape in a doodle I did on a note. One thing I do sometimes when I look at older entries is highlight any long rivers in the text. Like bad kerning in print, rivers just pop out once you know about them. They were annoying me some, so instead I decided to make them a feature and inked a line along them when I found ones that go through at least 4 rows. I use a contrasting color if the text is blue, otherwise use blue to play up the “rivers”. Makes the page a little interesting to see these lines running through the text.
Well, I have these notebooks now, and right now I’ve really enjoyed the standard size, so cutting them down would work for me. They might very well sell that size too, but I don’t want to spend the extra money. That must be really enjoyable going back and manipulate your rivers.
@@adventuredenali At first it annoyed me that I was getting the rivers all the time. Too many short words would make it easier for those spaces to line up. Filling them in kind of made the pages look like an old plaster wall with cracks, and I wrote around them. Certainly appreciate wanting to make the notebooks fit your size preference. You could take the trimmings and make ink sample paper like the col-o-rings.
Thought you’d like to know here ARE some washi tape subscription boxes! Planner envy does some amazingly coordinated ones, and there’s others like Cratejoy washi sticker crate, Little Washi Treat, and Mandy Lynn Plans does one too :)
Is there such a thing as too many journals? I don’t think so. Dot grid is my jam, which has surprised me. I was always a lined journal lady, but no more.
The washi tape cutter comes in 2 different sizes. are you speaking of the ephemera lover "Skyler Hand"? I watch ASMR journal collage from "CHACHA NOTE" and "Hwaufranc ASMR" "London Gifties" has a washi tape sub. box . She includes the best tea and smarties. She also has a few nature inspired washi tapes.

Really adorable video! I also got some dominant industry inks recently to try! :) So many cute things! Wish I could buy from them! But international shipping 🥲 Your diary is absolutely gorgeous! Makes me want to get one, but I have no idea where to get those brass buttons here… I work in a library so I use a lot of scrap material from our displays :) but washi is so tempting! What’s the name of that green? I’m not on shimmer inks but that’s gorgeous!
Thank you! So the Dominant Inks some seem to be only for dip pens, some for medium or larger nibbed fountain pens, and some don't seem to have a preference at all - so just be careful. XD This green one says for medium or larger nibbed fountain pens to prevent clogging - but I wonder how it compares to all the other fountain one friendly shimmer inks. Could it really be that much thicker? I'm so tempted to try it in a TWSBI fine or something. The ink is gorgeous, named Pearl Autumn Forest.
@@adventuredenali I got a couple of ones, a leaf green and base black, really beautiful and fp friendly. Very lubricated as well. Yeah the dip pen ones look very interesting! I’m curious for Gold Path.
