      @@Nobletofu lsrActually, "tidal force" was correct, which is the tensile force experienced by an object due to the gradient of a gravitational field. It is strongest near small massive objects, the tidal forces near a black hole are inverse-squarely proportional to the size of the black hole. Some rough order-of-magnitude estimates for an average human "standing" (aligned with the direction of gravity) in various locations:
      40 μN on the surface of the Earth
      10-100 mN near the event horizon of Sagittarius A* (the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way)
      10-100 GN (yes, giganewton) near the event horizon of the smallest known black hole (3.3 solar masses)
      I couldn't find any value for the ultimate tensile stress of a human, but I feel it's safe to assume 10-100 GN exceeds it generously. The gravitational shear near a 1 cm black hole would be about 4 trillion times greater still, so it's imperative you don't forget to use your g-diffuser regularly.

    I'm pretty new to the SMM/Kaizo community, I actually found Ryu's channel while recovering from a kidney transplant in the hospital. Ryu's channel led me to finding GPB/Carl's channels which led to watching Barbs comp of GPW2 rages which is where I found your channel. Love your content man, you are an insane SMW player. I wanted to dive in myself to try some SMW hacks but was having an issue running them in SNES9x and this video completely cleared it up for me, and also introduced me to the Super - NT. I didn't even know that was a thing. I've been thinking about jumping into streaming but have always been nervous to take the leap bc I feel like I would be boring to watch lol.     Do you have an android phone? if so here's how to play roms on your phone;
    Download 'retroarch'
    Download 'unipatcher'
    Download 'z archiver'
    (All of above from the Google play store)
    Download 'super mario world rom'
    Go to z archiver and extract smw rom to archive name,
    Then go online and type in 'smc to sfc converter' and convert super mario world to a .sfc file.
    rename this file to 'clean super mario world.sfc. (just so you know which file is your clean smw rom)
    Now go to smw central and download your Mario roms of choice.
    open z archiver and extract each one to archive name,
    Then open uni patcher and select your patch file, which will be the roms you downloaded from smwcentral, (example, super dram world.Bps)
    in the next box down select your clean smw file,
    Next where it says output, rename that file to whatever you want to, so you know what game it is inside of retroarch.
    Your done!
    Now go to retroarch download snex9x core and open your game, you can hook up a Bluetooth controller and play smw rom hacks on your phone.
    Tip: for less input lag.
    find latency inside of retroarch and select runahead and enable it, set runahead frames to 1 and you should be input lag free.
    Enjoy

    @Whirlybird88 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just so you know, the Super Nt isn't actually "emulation" in the sense that we're used to; that being "software" emulation. The Super Nt uses an FPGA chip to simulate the original SNES hardware on a circuitry level. So for all intents and purposes, it basically IS original hardware, albeit with high definition digital output and custom firmware (and REALLY good build quality to boot). Coupled with a good fast IPS monitor and either original controllers or 8bitdo SNES controllers (the 2.4ghz ones, not Bluetooth) it's basically the ultimate Super Nintendo. The only thing I don't like about it is that it uses micro USB for power instead of USB C or something sturdier.
    Also, I'm surprised about your thoughts about 8bitdo. I have a couple and I have original SNES controllers and I don't see how 8bitdo is bad. But I guess I'll see how they hold up.

    • @MatthijsvanDuin
      @MatthijsvanDuin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, for all intents and purposes it's an emulator, just implemented using an FPGA instead of software, which can make it easier to achieve certain performance targets (low latency, consistent frame rate) but doesn't provide any benefit for correctness of emulation. Regardless of whether the implementation is done in software or on an FPGA, it's still a third party's best-effort emulation of the SNES hardware based on reverse engineering and testing, and I know people found at least one example of a real-world behavioral difference (in some romhack) between the NT and a real SNES (iirc due to accidental use of uninitialized memory).

    • @Whirlybird88

      From Google:
      "FPGA firmware: Though the code deployed on the FPGA is sometimes referred to as its firmware, this is a slight misconception. Firmware is indeed embedded and dedicated code, but the code is executed. FPGA code is written in a description language, then is interpreted, synthesized, and ultimately produces hardware."

    • @MatthijsvanDuin
      @MatthijsvanDuin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Whirlybird88 I know the makers of the Super NT like to pretend their product isn't an emulator, but that's purely marketing and has no technical basis nor does it agree with common use of the word "emulator".
      The article you linked has this marketing bullshit all over, for example the line "The result is the sort of hodge-podge, hit-and-miss luck with game accuracy that comes with all software emulation." tries to imply that software emulation is somehow inherently limited in game accuracy, which is complete and utter bullshit. The accuracy of an emulator depends on whether accuracy was the goal and the amount of effort that has gone into making it as accurate as possible. Whether the emulator is implemented in software or in an FPGA is completely irrelevant in this regard.
      Loudly advertising the use of an FPGA in any product is just silly marketing-speak, it is purely an implementation detail that has no actual relevance to end users since it says little to nothing about characteristics that a user will care about, such as accuracy and performance metrics such as latency.
      I should note that I'm not saying the Supet NT is a bad product; I have no personal experience with it but from what I've heard it is quite excellent, it's just their marketing which is a obnoxious in how they are foulmouthing software emulators.

    • @Whirlybird88
      @Whirlybird88 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MatthijsvanDuin
      Look, I'm not saying it's 100% pristine and perfect (although having a custom UI front-end is probably the only thing limiting that), or that Analogue isn't going a bit overboard with the marketing. All I'm saying is most all of their points about the differences are true. Emulation has respectively come a long way, but it's still inferior. FPGAs are not processors. They execute in real time just like the original electronics, and there is no lag. Any lag would come from the TV/monitor. With a good monitor, there is no perceivable difference in lag compared to original hardware on a CRT.
      I grew up with the original consoles and CRTs, I still have some of those consoles, I've used emulators like bsnes and SNES9X, and they are crap compared to my Super Nt. There's a very noticeable lag difference, and you can't eliminate that lag with software emulation.
      Having said that, I still understand that both methods are achieved through reverse engineering and are subject to behavioral flaws, it's just that FPGA is a much more proper way of doing it, and frankly I wouldn't be surprised if any differences with the Super Nt could be replicated on the original SNES just by putting the same custom front-end on it (if that's possible). At the end of the day, a flawless emulator vs a flawless FPGA shouldn't really show any difference other than lag, but that lag makes a big difference.

    • @MatthijsvanDuin
      @MatthijsvanDuin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Whirlybird88 Again, I'm not _at all_ trying to say anything bad about the Super NT as a product, my beef is purely with its marketing lies. Instead of explaining how good their emulation is they try to establish a false dichotomy and elevate their product by pissing on all software emulators collectively, which is just incredibly rude.
      Their're not only misrepresenting the negatives of software emulators, they're also misrepresenting FPGAs. Let's take another example from the article: "That essentially means this chip can pretend to be a Super Nintendo - or any other machine that can be programmed in - at the hardware level, right down to circuits and transistors."
      An FPGA isn't programmed at transistor level, the fundamental building blocks are much larger logic cells typically involving small lookup tables and a flip-flop. Of course you could use an FPGA to (inefficiently) emulate a circuit at transistor-level, but you can do that equally well with software.
      Moreover, how well an FPGA is at emulating a circuit at transistor level is irrelevant since they _aren't_ emulating the SNES at the transistor level. Doing so would require having access to the transistor-level design (e.g. by slicing the original chips), and emulating that in their product would be legal suicide, Nintendo would sue them into oblivion. The Super NT tries to emulate the _functional_ behaviour of the SNES, just like every other emulator aims to (with varying degrees of success).
      Also, while lag is a common (though not necessarily unsolvable) problem of software emulators running on off-the-shelf computers and operating systems, this problem doesn't necessarily apply if you use a dedicated device where you can get predictable timing. I use signal processors whose input-to-output latency can be as little as 10 microseconds regardless of cpu load, and a real-time processor core whose perfectly deterministic timing allows software to bit-bang signal waveforms with 5ns resolution. Even if you limit yourself to general-purpose hardware, linux systems with an RT kernel are used for hard real-time industrial control processes, and latencies I've seen reported range from sub-millisecond down to tens of microseconds.
      Conversely, an FPGA is not "lag-free", all logic has intrinsic delay and dealing with that is an important part of designing logic circuits for FPGA or intergrated circuit design. Moreover this delay will almost certainly be much larger for a design running in an FPGA than one implemented in an IC, which means that a cpu will normally outperform an FPGA _for tasks for which the cpu is optimized_ while the big benefit of an FPGA is its flexibility, allowing it to outperform software for tasks that are awkward to implement using the instructions provided by a cpu.
      Either way, the biggest impact comes from using a dedicated device whose programming is specific to the task of emulating a SNES, not what class of device is used. The implementation choices (FPGA or CPU? or FPGA and CPU? which FPGA? which CPU? operating system or baremetal? which operating system?) are just that, implementation choices the implementer needs to figure out based on numerous complex criteria, it means absolutely nothing to the end user.

Especially since the buffalo controller dudes talking about are crazy expensive. Thanks for the swift reply and the knowledge, amigo :)

      @@jaykelley103 By the way, if you are going to play Kaizo on SNES classic, try getting the retro receiver and 8bitdo Pro 2. The Pro 2 works on PC, Switch, Mac, and phones so you will get a jack of all trades controller. Also the Pro 2 has thumb sticks in case you like those better.

    You're right that the 8bitdo doesn't last, but it's real easy to replace the rubbers. Do that once for like $3 and it'll work great. So if there is some reason you want (or already have) an 8bitdo, there's no reason not to get/keep it. But if you want to avoid having to mod the controller, then yeah, go with something else.
    Also, thanks for making it clear that you don't need both an NT and an SD2SNES (unless you want to do something like savestating). I've seen too many people buy both to start out because they want to copy the big streamers' set-ups.

      Savestates already work with the SD2SNES/FXPAK Pro for years at this point.
      m.th-cam.com/video/5ZCJoqf9jBg/w-d-xo.html
      Also, using an original SNES console is recommended, seeing as clone consoles like the Super NT can't touch the original and are prone to error, atleast in combination with the FXPAK Pro.
      The creator of the device, "Ikari", confirmed this a while ago.

      @@ericcartman7420 You must have misread my comment, which said that you don't need both- the only reason to get the flash cart if you already have the NT is if you want savestates. Also your claim that the NT can't touch the original console is laughable and obviously does not come from experience.

      @@smkls93 Anyone who knows what he's talking about will choose the original hardware - the one games were specifically designed for - over a cheap-ass Chinese clone console. Unless it's an exact replica using the same parts, issues are likely to arise.
      No idea what "experience" you are talking about, but I for one know, for a fact. If not even the words of the author of the FXPAK Pro can convince, then you're just another idiot on the internet.
