Great demo of the Boss GT-100 with the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III and a Strat here.My gigging rig exactly.I appreciate you sharing your settings on the GT-100.I have never liked the chorus setting I had until I saw yours. As a former Boss GT-8 user it has taken some getting used to for me with the GT-100.I also like your sound with the Dyna Comp.Kudos on this video !
Very nice sounds.I have similar setup, but using Boss GT100 with 2 amps(Blues Junior 4 and Peavey Vypyr 30) in STEREO. And i play through Tuner(unmuted), cuz it sounds better for my ears. More rich and harmonics are awesome.
Awesome as usual Brett .. I went that route once and found myself playing with it for hours on end with all the adjustments and I do mean the GT lol somehow that did not sound quite right . Anyway I sold it and went back to analog pedals much happier . But like you said small shindig travel lite quick set .. works .
Great video as always Sir! I'm always looking forward to your vids, I always digest them in order to have a nerd talk with my musician friends hehehehehe! Greetings from Mexico!
I bought one used it. I liked it for bedroom stuff. But I could NEVER use one live. It's just not there yet. So after 4 or 5 months I sold it off and started buying pedals again! Lots of JHS, Keeley and Wampler effects!
Hey Brett! I really like this sort of low maintenance minimalistic setup, fantastic sound. Have you ever been in a situation where you didn't use amp at all (just multieffect and straight to the PA)? It would be nice if you did a demo on that.
Great demo as always. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us in 2015. What is that little drawing in the background?? You lifting weights? Have a Happy & Safe new Year. Lou
great video! i'm thinking about buying one and that would be the exact way to use it (with the manual mode without the amp models). it was hard to find a video which is not overloaded with effects. thanks
sounding great Brett! I dig it when you break out the 80s rawk and whammy bar licks, and follow it with the big 80s chorus toanz. I am gearing up to start doing some demos again, it's gonna be fun to come out of retirement :-)
Hey, sorry to post a comment so long after the video was created, but... How do you control your input volume? I find I have to boost the volume of just the guitar going through the GT100 with no FX on, because as soon as I turn an effect on - it becomes really loud in comparison to dry signal through. Do you do it in the global input sensitivity settings? Or as an EQ volume boost at the start of the digital signal chain? Or, is there another trick I'm missing - thanks!
Niklas - I managed to fix the issue I was having. It turns out I hadn't properly calibrated the input level of my Boss Gt-100 unit (as per th-cam.com/video/wBq_5hvqar0/w-d-xo.html). Hope this helps!
I've never tried the TC stuff so I can't comment there, but I have used an M13 from time to time and it's pretty cool. Also the Line 6 Relay G50 has been with me on stage for the last 6 months and it's been exceptionally good.
Good evening, thank you for your great video, I do not see if you connect the output of the GT100 on the input of the Fender amp, what is your M AUDIO right? thank you in advance
Hi, Brett! Thanks a lot for this video, sounds great. I downloaded all your liveset from Boss Tone Studio, they're the best patches by a mile (sorry, Luke...). Is there a chance you can share this particular patch you're using here with the Hot Rod with us? Thank you!
Combo Amp Output for this one, although it doesn't really matter what setting you have it on if you're not using any of the COSM amps as only they will be shaped by the output setting to suit your medium of choice. (Not documented to my knowledge, but I'm speaking from experience and experimentation).
Love Your videos generally, but this one most. Still use the GT100 in several bands, I play with. For each band, I have several banks, that I use in MANUAL mode. My configurations are very similar to Yours (Tuner on external Pedal), but my external is a BOSS FS6 (=2 Pedals) and with the left switch I turn Manual-Mode off/on, with the right one the tuner. Anyway: I have one question: Which chorus do You use? Sounds absolutely great.
I love Fender amps but not that one I like the Supersonics better. If I could afford a Bassman with some mods I would use that! Have you checked out of he Marshall Dual Super Lead 40 watt tube combo? Great tones and reasonably priced. I use my Marshall as my delay amp, only the delay signal goes through it it sounds killer! Thanx for all the great reviews you do. I never make a purchase until I've seen what you guys at the Pro Guitar Shop!
Hello Brett excelent vídeo. One ask:I use a gt100 and Laney VC30 inclean chanel, I prefere made patchs but only use the stomps, not simulations. Everythin that you made in this vídeos is ok for me.But I not fundo the good hi gain distortion, the Rat is more clone that I like. The problema is ,if I clika on in the bright switch ,the clean sound is ok,but hi gain sounds stay so crisp My ask is,are you usina the bright switch of the clean chanel in this vídeo? .
Hi Brett..old post but hopefully you see this. Im using a Blues Jr and have set my pedal up exactly as you have on here but it not only doesnt sound like yours but the patch levels jump quite a bit...any help would be very much appreciated...Im getting kinda pissed at it lol
Combo. However, it makes little or no difference unless you are incorporating amp models. Even they are compromised unless used with a full range system, in my opinion. The System Outputs simply try to offset and cater for inherent EQ curves found in the choices they offer - stack, combo, etc.
Sounds great Burg's but I still haven't seen you do a demo of an Ulbrick yet. If I lived near Melbourne I'd lend you mine. The boss sounds surprisingly impressive, some of the effects aren't in the awesome category but others are, could be better than the line 6 board?
I'm not sure Dave's still doing amp business, to be honest, Brian. I'd have to take his advice on that sometime soon. The Boss is as impressive as you want it to be. Most of their pedal range is in there, it's just how you decide to voice and use them. This is my 30 minute attempt. I'm happy. :)
hi! the important matter here is if you're planning to use the amp simulations of this machine. if is that what you want then i can tell you that i have the gt001 (desktop version of the gt100) if you have a very nice clean amp, it works just fine if you plug it in the return of the effects loop. its also ok to use it right into your powered monitor speakers, works great! the multieffect let you set wich kind of output are you using. you can still use all of your single pedals and place them in the gt100's effects loop and choose for every patch where they are placed if you are not using amp sims, but you want to use dirt pedals in front of your amp or amp distortion, then you can choose to use it in the effects loop just for boost and modulation effects and delay everb. if you are not using your amps distortion you cuan just plug it in the front input and use the effects loop on the gt100 to place your favorite pedals wherever you want.
Hi Brett, are you still using the GT100? I have always been an analog guy, but am thinking about going multi fx. Tired of cables going bad and want to simplify. I have the ME80 but am not a fan of the wah pedal.
Hello Brett Good Job man. Can you tell some help. I would like to use GT100 with my Marshall DSL15C amp thats dont have return. To use with my front in may I use all the knobs on middle position? Thanks. Luciano.
please can someone tell me what type of connection is required to get this set-up? which cable goes where? I have a gt100 and a 2nd hand peavey valveking . how to set up the gt100 so that I can use the preamp and power amp section of the amp and only use the gt100 as an effects pedal? and I've heard that you can even switch the channels of your amp with the gt100. how is that possible. please help
Hi Steve. If I was using the ME80's amp/cab sims I'd run it through your amp's power amp IN or Effects Return if you have one. If you're only using the effects and no amp or cab sims, I'd run it direct to the front of the amp. Also, a little known trick: If you decide you do want to use the amp/cab sims, plug a mini jack into the headphone output; for some very odd reason this engages the COSM component which improves the sound a lot.
Brett Kingman man thanks a million! i enjoy your demo vids and admire your playing style. i am really really wanting an ernie ball stingray. i was on the fence until i saw you demo one. musicman has a great endorsee in you pal! you deserve it
For me the 4CM is a pain in the backside. I much prefer to run a good clean channel and let it do all the work without the spaghetti fuss of 4CM. Cheers.
Ali Emre Çehreli I believe you can get some of Brett's patches at Boss Tone Central .com. Plus a ton of other ones by other people. Some great tones / patches there. Listen to Josh Munday patches as well.
Question ,-- do you use the amp modeling on the Gt-100 using the 4 cable method and the hot rod ? if you do use - do you turn the send return off on the gt 100???? appreciate you video
Thanks again. The sounds seem darn good. all digital right? Kind blows away some of the old myth. Analog only, Indy pedals ^ all that. This sounded very Schweeeeet!
I've been using a GT-100 live and it's great. No one in the audience seems to care/know what I"m playing thru. lol SO MUCH lighter/easier than lugging heavy amps around after a long day and a gig that's over at 1am/2am in the morning.
Late to this thread, Brett, but thanks for the demo! (And for the patches on Boss Tone Central) Like you I’m no fan of the 4 cable method but a question: did you disable the amp sims on the GT100 - I’m assuming so...
Hi there Mr. Kingman! Great set up sir and great playing too! I just have a question though. Can i assign the manual mode to the M Audio separate pedal to recall the manual mode set up at any time?
Brett I enjoy watching your reviews. Had a question. Seeing as you have demoed and tested the new Boss ME-80 and now the Boss GT100, how would you compare them effects tone wise? Are they much different in quality of effects? Any drastic tone differences? I know the Boss GT100 will have more flexibility and higher price. However, I am more concerned with the effects tone quality between the two units. Thanks..
Jp Huh I have the Me & just ordered the 100. The 100 will give you a ton more options & ability to tweak sounds. That said the ME 80 is great. Much easier & a bit more intuitive to use. If you're not into tweaking with either unit you can go to Boss Tone Central & download some of Brett's patches as well as many others. There are just tons of patches to be had there. & using the USB connect easy to Download to where ever you want on either unit. Interesting if you listen to Josh's patches on both units there is little difference.
Brett Kingman ahh ok cool. I've got the same setup and I'm still trying to justify (mainly to my wife) the reason for wanting to upgrade to the axe fx. I do mostly small cover gigs, but not sure if I should get the ax8 and rub it through the hotrod deluxe, or just go straight into the PA. how do they sound through a clean amp?
fast forward to 2017 and is there any multi-fx unit that has this much flexibility and features of the Boss GT-100 that is anywhere near its price??? closest imo is the Atomic Amps AmpliFire 12 which is a different beast but maybe 40% more in $$$ ... I guess the market has swayed more towards pedals and amp sims mostly for the ios/Apple platform and either standalone or daw hosted vst plugins for pc/mac and therefore most of the hardware has been left behind to some degree unless you are spending big bucks for the flagship products like Fractal Audio AX8, Line 6 Helix series, etc
Great video and amazing playing too.. I have a similar set up to you, but I have the George Benson hot rod III... Has a cleaner sound, although the Hot Rods have a great clean tone anyways with lots of headroom. I have opted to go via the 4 cable method but I see you just go straight into the front... would it be better for me to do that too? I have noticed that using the 4 cable method, the overdrives all sound really thin.. all overdrives going into front of amp, but yours somehow sound a lot fuller and more thicker. I also have an issue balancing the right amount of level with the overdrives to match the clean levels. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks again for a great video
Sweet Jesus Brett how much gear you got? Boss GT100, never heard of it, (I'm not up on boss gear) Good job your a musician by trade! My better half would have had me strung up by my b*****ks if i had the amount of gear you own! :-)
Hey,in 2022 you can use this very well;and it doesnt costs 1000 bugs.....maby 250 till 395 new!!!A good product for us guitarmen!!Thx for post!
Very well done Brett. And awesome playing.
That sounds amazing. What a great rig! Thank you for sharing!
I started watching you in the past year. Thanks for all the videos! You're one of the reviewers I enjoy and trust the most.
Just gone thru this video in slow mo and dialed in each pedal!! Killer sounds which I use alot...Many thanks 👍
I am getting mine tomorrow! thanks for showing the looper!
The real shine of the GT-100 is often overlooked. The STEREO effects - but you need two amps.
I watched plenty of reviews of this ,,, yours was the only one that taught me what i wanted to know. cheers for that.

Excellent Video! Thanks for sharing
Muito bom gostei do som eu tenho a minha GT100 e show o som dela valeu
Thank you for the precious indications. It'll help me to use better my GT100.
Great video as always Sir! I'm always looking forward to your vids, I always digest them in order to have a nerd talk with my musician friends hehehehehe! Greetings from Mexico!
Nice tones and setup mate👍
Nice demo as always 😊🤘
Sounds good, although you always bring out the best of the gear.
Cheers!
Good demo love tube screamer
I bought one used it. I liked it for bedroom stuff. But I could NEVER use one live. It's just not there yet. So after 4 or 5 months I sold it off and started buying pedals again! Lots of JHS, Keeley and Wampler effects!
Got to say, the tone is amazing.
Awesome sounds
I always enjoy your vids Burgs.. have a great New Year!
Thanks Bobby. You have a great one too. :)
Good enough for Johnny Marr i am buying
Cool video Brett, happy new year to you man!
Sounds beautiful.
Would you please how to make a LONG sustain on GT100 thank so much, great video!!!!
Thanks man! Great demo!
Hey Brett! I really like this sort of low maintenance minimalistic setup, fantastic sound. Have you ever been in a situation where you didn't use amp at all (just multieffect and straight to the PA)? It would be nice if you did a demo on that.
Nice, everything works fine
Amazing sounding. Seems to compete with the best.
Me manda o arquivo por gentileza pra colocar na GT 100.
Thanks for posting this!! I'm going to set mine up pretty close to what your doing. I pretty much have the same rig.
Slt maestro brett ! Mr brett est que tout les sons GT 100 ont déjà disposé dans l'orde svp?
Best demos on TH-cam
Yeah - this guy knows how to work it!
Great playing (and demo)! Thanks. Keep running into great resources from "Down Under"! (Recently discovered "In The Blues").
Great demo as always. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us in 2015. What is that little drawing in the background?? You lifting weights? Have a Happy & Safe new Year. Lou
awesome I have the same set up
great video! i'm thinking about buying one and that would be the exact way to use it (with the manual mode without the amp models). it was hard to find a video which is not overloaded with effects. thanks

Really great review. Thanks Brett :)
Digital effects really have come a long way in recent years. Do you have an opinion on this versus the Line 6 or TC Electronics?
I've never tried the TC stuff so I can't comment there, but I have used an M13 from time to time and it's pretty cool. Also the Line 6 Relay G50 has been with me on stage for the last 6 months and it's been exceptionally good.

I'll follow you wherever you go!! your sound is amazing, I've got the same guitar and the gt100, but i don't sound like that 😞😞
Fantastic! 👌
Hi, Brett! Thanks a lot for this video, sounds great. I downloaded all your liveset from Boss Tone Studio, they're the best patches by a mile (sorry, Luke...). Is there a chance you can share this particular patch you're using here with the Hot Rod with us? Thank you!
Please help!! Great easy to follow video but what 'output setting' are you using when plugged in front of amp? Ta very much 👍
Combo Amp Output for this one, although it doesn't really matter what setting you have it on if you're not using any of the COSM amps as only they will be shaped by the output setting to suit your medium of choice. (Not documented to my knowledge, but I'm speaking from experience and experimentation).
***** cheers Brett !
great processor !! Where can I get tutorials for such riffs he plays ?
Hey Brett great video my question is how did you get the tap tempo to work in manual mode
Hi Brett. Thanks for this nice upload. Great review. One question can you give the patch for country effect that you played@4 in timeline.
Love Your videos generally, but this one most.
Still use the GT100 in several bands, I play with. For each band, I have several banks, that I use in MANUAL mode.

Can you make long long sustain ?? V
Great demo Brett! Does the GT100 have an acoustic modeller built in?
Thanks! Yes, it does. But I've never tried it. I must! :)
Hi Brett, Can you please tell me if the Boss GT -100 is a breeze to operate or does it take a lot of instruction to operate? Thx. Bob
Hello Brett excelent vídeo. One ask:I use a gt100 and Laney VC30 inclean chanel, I prefere made patchs but only use the stomps, not simulations. omG finally an awesome review without that much blablablablabla, u convince to buy it now, thanks for the great review
Hi Brett..old post but hopefully you see this.
Im using a Blues Jr and have set my pedal up exactly as you have on here but it not only doesnt sound like yours but the patch levels jump quite a bit...any help would be very much appreciated...Im getting kinda pissed at it lol
in that mode amplifier system you have configured your boss gt ?? Line mix, Jc-120, Combo, etc etc ...
Combo. However, it makes little or no difference unless you are incorporating amp models. Even they are compromised unless used with a full range system, in my opinion. The System Outputs simply try to offset and cater for inherent EQ curves found in the choices they offer - stack, combo, etc.
***** Thanks!!
I'm happy. :)
Hi in did all patch same as u and i saved it wheb i go back to manual mode again the PLOOP AND CTRL PEDAL I SAVED IS GONE
How do you reduce those extra noices which comes from the patches ?
you can use a noise gate or noise suppresor
@@morovmusicproject Does the BOSS GT100 have a "virtual" noise gate?
How did you set the hot rod?
are you plugged into the amp input or effects return?
Amp input.
***** What kind of amps work best with these GT-100's?
Also do you recommend plugging right into your amp or powered monitor speakers? You have great tones here. Is this called the 4 cable method?
hi! the important matter here is if you're planning to use the amp simulations of this machine. if is that what you want then i can tell you that i have the gt001 (desktop version of the gt100) if you have a very nice clean amp, it works just fine if you plug it in the return of the effects loop. its also ok to use it right into your powered monitor speakers, works great! the multieffect let you set wich kind of output are you using. you can still use all of your single pedals and place them in the gt100's effects loop and choose for every patch where they are placed
if you are not using amp sims, but you want to use dirt pedals in front of your amp or amp distortion, then you can choose to use it in the effects loop just for boost and modulation effects and delay
everb.
if you are not using your amps distortion you cuan just plug it in the front input and use the effects loop on the gt100 to place your favorite pedals wherever you want.
Aahahahah you lost a power supply !!!
Good review like Boss me80.
If you don't want to run an amp at all, but rather just run the GT100 straight into a PA system do you need a cab simulator/DI box?
+smartacus88 it already has an amp and cab simulator ;-) you just have to choose it on the boss
I want yours patch plss can you share it sir?
Hi Brett, are you still using the GT100? I have always been an analog guy, but am thinking about going multi fx. Tired of cables going bad and want to simplify. I have the ME80 but am not a fan of the wah pedal.
Can you get away with using the boss gt100 straight to the PA system?
Hello Brett Good Job man. Can you tell some help. I would like to use GT100 with my Marshall DSL15C amp thats dont have return. To use with my front in may I use all the knobs on middle position? Thanks. Luciano.
please can someone tell me what type of connection is required to get this set-up? which cable goes where? I have a gt100 and a 2nd hand peavey valveking . how to set up the gt100 so that I can use the preamp and power amp section of the amp and only use the gt100 as an effects pedal? and I've heard that you can even switch the channels of your amp with the gt100. how is that possible. please help
hello sir. i have recently bought this amp and always use a boss me-80. would you run it thru the preamp out or thru the regular input (front)?
Hi Steve. If I was using the ME80's amp/cab sims I'd run it through your amp's power amp IN or Effects Return if you have one. If you're only using the effects and no amp or cab sims, I'd run it direct to the front of the amp. Brett Kingman man thanks a million! i enjoy your demo vids and admire your playing style. i am really really wanting an ernie ball stingray. i was on the fence until i saw you demo one. musicman has a great endorsee in you pal! you deserve it
Nice demo as always, do you plan on or have you ever used the Line 6 HD500x? If so, how do they compare?
Thanks for the kind words. I've never used a HD500x but I'd be happy to give my opinion and demo if Line 6 wish to forward one.
How come you get a great delay/reverb sound while you are not using the 4 cable method?? :l
For me the 4CM is a pain in the backside. I much prefer to run a good clean channel and let it do all the work without the spaghetti fuss of 4CM. Cheers.
Does this amp have footswitch? I have a Gt100 too, but I'd like to use the amp distortion
yep, you can hook up the gt100 to your amp's footswitch input and use the gt100 to switch the amp's channels!
Are you download patches link please? :))
Ali Emre Çehreli I believe you can get some of Brett's patches at Boss Tone Central .com. Plus a ton of other ones by other people. Some great tones / patches there. Listen to Josh Munday patches as well.
Question ,--
do you use the amp modeling on the Gt-100 using the 4 cable method and the hot rod ?
if you do use - do you turn the send return off on the gt 100????
appreciate you video
Looks like he is going to HRD input. I can only see 4 connections: 1. Power, 2. Pedal to switch tuner, 3. Guitar input , 4. Ouput
9 years on, worth a punt? hassle free for sure!
Lead guitarist Will Sergeant from Echo and the Bunnymen still uses this when touring.
Thanks again. The sounds seem darn good. all digital right? Kind blows away some of the old myth. Analog only, Indy pedals ^ all that. This sounded very Schweeeeet!

Killer demo Brett!! Love the HRD what speaker does this one have? Killer pedal amp! :)
Standard 'Special Celestion'. 80W, 8ohm, UK. Tons of headroom, great for pedals. :) Thanks for the kind words. Have a great NYE and 2015.
Ok cheers Brett have a great night!!
Hi Brett
How did this set up go live??
Late to this thread, Brett, but thanks for the demo! (And for the patches on Boss Tone Central) Like you I’m no fan of the 4 cable method but a question: did you disable the amp sims on the GT100 - I’m assuming so...
HI there! I just got a GT100. is it possible to download a manual mode rig?
Hi there Mr. Kingman! Great set up sir and great playing too!
I just have a question though. Can i assign the manual mode to the M Audio separate pedal to recall the manual mode set up at any time?
Hey Brett how do the amp models sound
Pretty good, I think. Next demo... :)
You say you gig what band(s) do you play in?
Belo vídeo, Só faltou ser legendado para o português

Quick question...do you still use this rig these days, or are you an axe fx man?
Only Axe-FX on stage. This rig was sold some time ago. Cheers, B.

I do mostly small cover gigs, but not sure if I should get the ax8 and rub it through the hotrod deluxe, or just go straight into the PA. how do they sound through a clean amp?
