Me after buying Pokemon cards for the first time in my life after decades of never touching them.😂 I enjoyed them tho. Tbh I just collect stuff for fun sometimes. Don’t look at it much as an investment.
Same…I got back into collecting over last summer, and i just collect graded Gyarados slabs here and there to treat myself lol. If they go up it’s cool but I’ll probs won’t sell for a long time anyway
I will address my story some point as well as to how I got restarted into Pokemon. But, I have been a TCG fan and enthusiastic for pretty my whole life, from YuGiOh to Duel Masters. I mainly started to focus on Pokémon in 2022. But, I'm a 90s kid, so Pokemon is in my DNA as much as Robot Wars, Power Rangers, Dexter's Laboratory and all the other Fantastic Junk we got fed on Cartoon Network 😂😅
Black Friday definitely is a great time to buy sets but its somewhat of a balance as much of the more desirable product will have been purchased and much of the black Friday sales are clearing out less desirable products. So its a bit of both. Do save for black friday, there WILL be deals. But do buy high demand products if you want to ensure you get one. Case in poont - right as i typed this you saw the 151 UPC is OOS lol. High demand product oos. Paldean fates still in stock given its less desirable. Lower demand so expect some deals.
@@benjaminkappler2255 You make a valid point with the 151 UPC. I did point out that I have two myself already as sealed, it was to get a 3rd in hopes for a Black Friday card/bonus offer, a RT reaction is a RT reaction 😆😅 But, I do agree with the High Demand products, im well aware the US market is struggling to get hold of the 151 UPCs, now UK has joined then i guess 😅 I appreciate your time in making a fair anf valid point 🙂
I agree with wait for black friday but also i remember last black friday deals were bad ps5s only had 10 dollars off while non disk dinit even get a deal. I wasint collecting cards at this time so maybe they were on sale.
What you just described to me is an Investment 😶 Sealed products and locking them away out of sight, out of mind, is the idea! You don't invest for a 'short time,' the ideal investment is playing the long game. You are talking 20-30 years and that product would fetch a nice return 🙂
@Hustlémon I've been doing some thinking... if you wanted to "move the financial needle", you would need tens of thousands... to make flipping etb's or booster boxes worth it. I buy a few blisters and loose packs every year and hide them with my sports cards from the 80's. It's like a treasure for my kids when I croak... 🤣🤣🤣🥰🥰🥰
@@carsenarsen8634 Well if you look at past performances, the XY Evolution ETB. 2016 was £40 to purchase. Now that ETB is worth £240-£300 which is a 5x increase in value, I am aware past performances are no guidelines to future results. But, no stock investment increase in that fold, the SNP500 has an average yield of 7%-10% return, so even at a best push, that £40 investment would be worth £85 now. This is why I believe 'alternative investment' is a good option for people, plus I personally believe it's 'easier to start' as people have attachment to collection. I can discuss your collection and 'loose packs' are okay, but, you need a 'reputation' when reselling them or have them graded. If you don't want to invest in ETBs or UPCs. Then triple blisters are a good options too. If you get a chance, you can watch my 5 Crucial Financial Steps video 🙂 Good Luck with your investment, I respect people who think that long term game for their loved ones 🎯
@Hustlémon agreed 100% just remember that no one in the future is purchasing an xy etb to rip it. The risk is far too great... your clientele for xy etb's are currently collectors who also want to sit on them... the value is inherent to the purchaser only. There will be a point of losing return. Can't invest 30000 in etb's you will need to store them and keep them safe etc. I'm interested in what you think about what product will stand the "test of time". Etb's are great, But you're not going to rip a 200$ etb. You're going to sit on it and invest. I truly believe a 50$pack is more of an impulse buy and will be ripped immediately. Idk. I'm old... I stopped collecting actual cards in the 1990's when opeechee, topp, upper league... they screwed us man. They totally totally screwed the industry and it still isn't back to where it was in 1993... I remember leaving ball games and going to the card shops... now we have game stop... yay
February is usually a rough time for Pokémon sellers. that’s a great time to buy after the holidays when everyone is maxed out and sellers are struggling a bit
That's a good shout! I should've thought that myself knowing online retail World. The lowest recording sales/profit months are between Feb-May, those 3 months every business tend to not make as much in comparison to the rest of the year, glad you pointed that out bud 👍🏽
In my country black friday work in mysterious way that everything is discounted by 40-70% but if someone check the prize of that thing from month before everything was 10-20% cheaper Welcome to eastern europe😂😂
Lmao Sharp Eyes 👀😆 I see how it might seem contradictory, but, my Pikachu video, I highlighted some affordable cards that I believe are worth investing in 'Long Term' they’re low risk, low cost, and more about building a solid collection over time, which can be done whenever you find a good deal! In my latest video, I'm specifically addressing the current market conditions and advising against heavy investing right now on 'Sealed Products' from New Sets and current sought after cards because Black Friday is just around the corner. I'm pointing out that now isn't a wise time to invest in those items, but, even cover fantastic offers in the UK for those you still want something, obviously not Steller Crown cause that would be unwise 😆 It’s about timing, holding off big purchases and waiting for discounts or better deals during Black Friday sales. The Pikachu video focuses more on consistent and small investments, whereas the latest video is about strategic timing for larger investments. TH-cam Video Titles have to be short and sweet, if I go into full explaination and detail just like this long as hell comment response, it's not ideal is it 🤣 Plus, my videos covers the topic on the matter, that's the whole purpose! Singles tend to perform worse than sealed so if you advise people to buy singles now wouldn't they have a greater chance of going down, of seeing less appreciation, than would sealed purchases now? Especially if cheap stock in September is flushed into the market, opened, and more singles are pulled?

I think it's hard to calculate value because there's value in fun. If you have budgeted and can afford it, buy the cards, open the cards and have fun. If you pull something valuable, good, but if you don't, that's okay. It might be a bad time to buy and hold, but if you can afford it, buy and hold, buy and rip!
You are correct in saying it depends on the person's 'goal'. But, when I hear the word 'Invest' it has a certain meaning to it, which is Financial and that's it's original meaning. You can use the word invest provide something of 'valuable' and I suppose that's when it opens the Pandora Box of what do people find valuable, if fun and opening packs does that, then like you said, let it rip! 😊
@@Pokehun85 For 'Investment' purposes, hold fire on getting Stellar Crown and Shrouded Fable as a sealed product or buying Singles at a inflated rate 🙂 I point this out on the video 😁 If you love just opening packs, playing the TCG and can afford to do so, go for it, there's no price on your personal happiness and joy 😁
