    in 2009 you taught me how to solve a 3x3x3 rubik's cube. now im glad you'll be teaching me how to solve a 4x4x4 rubik's cube 1 year later i hope you have a video on 5x5x5 rubik's cube because when i get comfortable with the 4x4x4 rubik's cube i might just continue to the next one. you rock man :)

    I can solve my 3x3x3 cube thanks to you, by watching your previous turtorials! Now i have the 4x4x4 cube, and these turtorials are needed as well for solving my cube. I would like to thank you for sharing your turtorial, i have to say, these movies are very clear, good explanation and nice sound/voice! Thank you very much !!

    Nice work Dan
    I actually learnt the 4x4 myself before this tutorial came out
    For solving the centres, I think you made it more complicated than it should be. Like you said, it's all intuitive

    Or maybe when you're mixing it up, just don't mess up the centers.
    BAM. GENIUS.

    hey dan,
    i am a big fan of your rubiks cube tutorials, you are the one who first taught me the 3x3. i have moved onto the 4x4 and i have noticed that this tutorial shows the long version of solving the centers.. it can be done completely intuitively much simple and faster. maybe that could be shown instead. i think it would be much faster.

    Funny to see how quickly people blow-up, this guy has spent a lot of time trying to put together a video to help you solve this, I followed his 3x3x3 videos and can now solve a 3x3x3 very swiftly, beforehand having no idea how to solve one, just have some patience guys, you're lucky he's doing this at all.

  • @kumar2313
    @kumar2313 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    you can put the pieces back together with a little bit of patience the center ones go inside the little tread the outer edge ones just gather around the edges and corner edges snap in to hold that corresponding color in place

  • @dranzer26
    @dranzer26 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow you solve the centers differently. I learned to solve them like this. Make 2 by 1 blocks, then put them into place, but to not mess up a finished center you line up for instance the red centers so they are on the same side, then you move the one you need to place up where the other red one is and turn it 180 degrees then put the other red piece back and you will not mess up a finished center and the red center will be finished. I do that for all of the centers.

    josecrosscounty: That sounds a bit like the cage method, which is where you get the edges and corners first, then get the centers last. I've done this method myself quite a few times, but believe me, it isn't quite as fast as the reduction method, which is where you make the centers then edges, and then solve like a 3x3. It's the same exact method Dan Brown teachs in this video.

  • @FreddyGabriel
    @FreddyGabriel 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    In this video, algorithms are not required. It's all about common sense on where the pieces have to go. So don't confuse yourself and just go with where the pieces need to go. The only algorithm you'll need is for the last 4 pieces that don't match.

  • @nancesnake
    @nancesnake 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    hey dan! i think its better the way i make the centrers because its 100% intuitive you dont REALLY need algoriths in this part =) anyway you rock because of you i know how to solva a 3x3x3

  • @Truepatfan
    @Truepatfan 17 ปีที่แล้ว

    He means you have the centers so it can be solved like a 3x3x3. Treat the 2x1 pieces like a single piece on the 3x3x3, and use these to make the cross, then the first layer, then second layer, etc,etc,etc.

    But i do have a question for all the viewers, and you...is it normal to get a little dizzy during or after playing it? 'cause, every time i play with the cube for a few minutes, i get dizzy... this may be a weird Q but i just wanna know if its me, or if its totally normal...

    After knowing how to solve the 3 x 3, I figured out how to do the first 3 layers intuitively. But I solve the inner 2 x 2 squares a much different way to this. I just solved one square, but kept it on the bottom and used the top layer as my swapping layer. But this video gave me some ideas on different ways to approach the squares.

    Last night I wanted to look at this video but no internet, so I played with 4x4x4 for 90 minutes and without alg's I managed to get all the centers correctly, and then by apply 3x3x3 rules I get bottom two (D and d) correct. And then I was stumped. So, technically I need part 3 of your instructions? Yeaaaa

  • @jdouglasusn
    @jdouglasusn 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @hskrwr9495 no need for one. If you can solve a 3x3 and 4x4, then you can apply those to any cube and solve it.

    you just solve the other 8 center pieces around that one.
    The big difference it makes is that now you don't need to figure out the centers' positions on your own....

  • @elnetini

    It's because of the parity, just make sure that the top layer has the pieces in the right place, even if they are not orientated right, you solve the parity at the end. Hope this helps :)

    I have just a quick question... When you do either R*, 2U, R'* or it's opposite, would you really need to do the Prime (outer) layer too. Or could you just do the inner one?

  • @JackofAllTrades799
    @JackofAllTrades799 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It isn't the centers but the edge pieces that is difficult. The center is just a 2x2x2 with extra crap that you don't need to worry about.

    Turn one face of the cube 45 degrees and pull out an edge piece (as shown in Dan's 3x3x3 video) After that the rest of the cube should be easy to take apart.

    If you end up in a situation where, you manage to solve 4 centres completely, but in such a way that the centres are in a ring, and therefore the unsolved ones are opposite to each other, can you still get the centres finished by doing those algorithms at the end?

  • @negativeseven
    @negativeseven 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think that the 730,000 views for each vid are for those who wanted to learn, the additional 470k for part 1 is because part 1 of anything is usually the most watched, and part 3 because people probably have problems with parity.

    If your cube has colors other then that of a standard cube, the easiest way to figure out your colors is to solve the corners as if you were solving at 2x2.

  • @Syncronyze.
    @Syncronyze. 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @SirFlakes It doesn't work, the top has nothing to do with the sides, therefore it's useless. The "corners" on a 2x2x2 are combined with the top face, and all the other faces, it is a rubik's cube of corners. This cube isn't corners, although it does make some logical sense, it just doesn't work... Sorry if thats confusing.

    Great vid.
    I had a question about solving the 4x4. When you solve the green cross (or whatever color you solve first), and you want to put the corner pieces to complete the green side, suppose I put the green-yellow-orange piece in it's correct position, the yellow side of the corner piece faces the orange side and the orange side of the corner piece faces the yellow side. How am I supposed to fix that?
    Thanks. :)

    The second parity algorithm is for a 5x5x5 parity. If you use
    2r, 2B, 2U, l, 2U, r', 2U, r, 2U, 2F, r, 2F, l', 2B, 2r
    its faster.

    If you now how to solve the regular 3x3x3 and 4x4x4 you can solve the 5x5x5 cube professor because the move notation of the 5x5x5 is exactly the same the difference is that in a 5x5x5 when you are solving the centers the centers have 9 peaces which is like a face of a 3x3x3 cube then you solve the edges an you have a scrambled 3x3x3 you now is the same thing the thing is that it has more peaces and more moves but everything is the same.
