although He is Bhutanatha ,connected with all kinds of spirits, ghosts, fairies and demons,he is the Ultimate Shaman(pain reliver) {kshama} meaning peace..Always remember that Lord Shiva himself is ever aboding in the Camphor substance(Sugandhi) ! Pushti Vardanam means that Lord Shiv is the fountain of blessings for every living being of this creation..HareKrsna,Boom Shankaar!

Gourds like cucumber or pumpkin etc disconnect from main plant automatically when perfectly ripe.after fruits ripen and separate, from the main
Plant and the main plant dries up and dies off being an annual
But the cucumber retains its juiciness for many months often stored as monsoon vegetable after(perticularly the sambar cucumber of west coast and ash gourd also.

Why it is used the example of a cucumber and not an eggplant or another vegetable in the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra? According to Paramahamsa Prajñanananda Giri is because this type of cucumber, after it has been planted and it starts to sprout, the vegetable is covered with a straw that is tied at the ends, to protect them from being eaten by birds and animals. After this has been done, one can't see if the fruit is green or not. The only way to know when it is matured, is when it gets detached by itself from the plant. And when they fall in the ground the straw protects them from getting dirt from mud and germs.

Another meaning of Sugandhim, as per The Practical Sanskrit-English Dictionary by Shri Vaman Shivaram Apte, is virtuous, pious, the Supreme being. Please consider that 🙏

The actual thing why they chose cucumber in my opinion is because a cucumber that grows on a climber can be easily removed from the climber likewise we ask lord Shiva to make us easily be detach from the physical existence
    उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् means
उर्वारु means a kind of cucumber
    इव means like
बन्धनान् means relationship or relation /attachment
The inner meaning" make me free from the bondage of this physical existence without any effort like how uruavru is detached from the climber it grown.
If I made any mistakes please apologise.and rectify me🙇

I think [ Sugandhim : Su Gandha ] means [ Su Vasana : Good Vasana ]. Really enjoyed this 5ish minutes.

    Oṁ hauṁ jūṁ saḥ
    māṁ pālaya pālaya
    saḥ jūṁ hauṁ Oṁ ?

Is it bandhanaan or bandhanaat though. And is it significant whether it is chanted either way? Because I have heard yogis recite it both ways and its a bit confusing.

I heard of another interpretation of urvaruka as a type of Himalayan cucumber that bursts to disperse its seeds. In each lifetime, we may in our ignorance, accumulate seeds of karma that will necessitate several more births to exhaust. We seek the grace of Shiva so we not fall into this trap

By attaching translation in words and worldly meaning, one is bound to get mediocre worldly tangible results from the mantra. Do not try to translate literally. Some general understanding is enough , what one needs is unwavering trust in mantra and the source where it came from.
